Broken electric and terrible after sales service

I purchased a very expensive electric armchair from AHF/FABB Furniture for over £1k, and particularly got the 10-Year Peace of Mind Warranty covering recliner mechanisms and motors. I chose this chair specifically because of that guarantee, thinking it would give me confidence and protection if anything went wrong.

Less than 7 years later, the electrics completely failed. I raised a claim and was forced to pay £72 for a technician to attend. He confirmed the electrics weren’t working but didn’t test or diagnose the fault. Instead, he speculated that the chair was too close to the wall (3 inches) — yet never asked me to move it or tried moving it himself. After I moved it further away, the chair still didn’t work.

Despite this, FABB Furniture dismissed my claim, saying it wasn’t a manufacturing fault. No repair, no replacement, no support — just a closed case and a broken chair, even though their guarantee explicitly covers motors and electrics.

Reading other reviews, it seems I’m not alone. Many people report the same poor after-sales service and refusal to honour guarantees. Sadly, my experience confirms this.

If you’re considering buying from AHF/FABB Furniture, be warned: their 10-Year Guarantee is meaningless. They will find excuses not to honour it, leaving you out of pocket with no support.

AVOIF FABB FURNITURE!!!

***Assume this is FABB Furniture - if not then disregard***

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!! Seriously save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere!!!

If I could give a zero or minus rating I wouldn't hesitate...
Bought a 3 seater and 2 seater couch (electric recliner) - sales staff in store were all fine but as soon as they have the order and you leave the store the whole process goes downhill and they couldn't care less...
Pretty much immediately and in the next few days after delivery we could see issues. One of the seats on the 2 seater looked distorted (leaning inward) and on the 2 seater and the recliners on the 3 seater the reclining foot rests were hitting the floor when putting down and the seats made a clunking noise when sitting in them/reclining them.

We reported this and they sent out a technician, who stated the frames were faulty and the bases were to be replaced...so had to wait 3-4months for new bases AND they had to be delivered to our house and stored by us until they could send someone to fit them (4 Very large and heavy boxes).
A different technician fitted them...but same issues soon returned so reported again...I asked for the original technician who said there was a fault first time but they sent the second technician who fitted the parts...and although he sees the issues he has said 'no manufacturing fault' - so we have 2 reports with images that show the same issues...BOTH acknowledging an issue, first technician said was faulty and tried to repair, 2nd technician who obviously doesn't want to admit he hasn't fixed the fault or can't be bothered to do further work, said no manufacturing fault so FABB have basically said they won't do anything else - and very blunt about it too!

So in summary ordered a couch, paid a handsome price, hasn't really worked since delivery, tried 1 repair, which didn't work and now can't be bothered to do anything else and have said (quoted exact words) "Should you wish to escalate your claim you can do so by seeking advice outside of Fabb Furniture" End of conversation.
Can't take it any further or speak to anyone higher up even though they can see the matching images, etc. on the reports they simply choose to hide behind the one that supports their own cause!!! They even said the 1st report is irrelevant - not sure how it can be when its all part of the same fault but they say because they 'repaired' the 1st report is irrelevant - pathetic!

Had couches before from other larger stores (DFS, etc) and wish I'd never heard of Fabb!

Absolutely Fuming!!!

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. We purchased a 2 seater sofa on 14/09/21 and were given a delivery date of 15/12/21, but to expect a month delay at worst. On 15/01/22 we were advised there would be a further delay due to COVID and delivery problems. Delivery would now be mid March; 3 extra months. Mid March has come and gone and now, after chasing multiple times I'm being told the sofa will be in the warehouse on the April 4th 2022. As others have said, a trail of lies and dangling carrots appear to be the common approach taught to staff at all levels. Meanwhile they have my £529 deposit and close to 7 months on, 4 months over the original 3 month delivery date, I still have no sofa. As others have said buy elsewhere, because buying from FABB sofas is like throwing cash out of a moving car, that's many customer's experience. AHF are refusing a refund despite not honouring the terms of the contract and delivery dates promised, and by some margin at that. I have paid by VISA debit and have instructed my bank, NATWEST, to request a charge back on the basis that this company has failed to deliver services or honour their terms of delivery. They have failed us very badly. I'd strongly suggest others in a similar position do the same before it is too late; there can be limits on how long you have to do this, so do not wait too long. I have also registered a dispute via the furniture ombudsman. I have never had to do this but there's being asked to be patient and being taken advantage of for being patient. AHF need to recognise that poor business ethics, and a blatant disregard for their customers is not acceptable, and will not be tolerated. Taking responsibility for their failure to deliver to delivery times needs to be taken seriously. It is no one else's fault but their own and there should be consequences for companies that employ unethical tactics like this. Taking money and not delivering goods is deceitful at best and theft at worst. I have legal insurance with my house insurance and will be taking legal advice in addition to the steps taken already. Consumers have rights, they are there to protect us all from unscrupulous companies willing to hold onto our hard earned cash for unreasonable periods of time whilst withholding the product they are contracted to deliver. Further advice can be gained through citizens advice refunds or the Visa chargeback process where the contract between seller and buyer is broken by the seller failing to deliver the service within the time frames agreed. (See 2015 Consumer Rights Act section 28) A contract is considered broken by the trader if they exceed the agreed date for the delivery of goods) Unlimited delays are not acceptable.
What if a trader has a 'no refunds' term written in the contract?

A trader is not allowed to exclude or restrict your legal rights in any way. If you inadvertently agree to a term in a contract that excludes or restricts your rights, you are not bound by it because it is considered an 'unfair term'. The 'Unfair terms in consumer contracts and notices' guide gives more information. If a trader tries to restrict or exclude your rights report it to the Citizens Advice consumer service.

If a trader had a 'no refunds' policy, it is likely to be an unfair trading practice. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 prohibits unfair trading practices. If you think a trader is trading unfairly report it to the Citizens Advice consumer service for referral to trading standards.
