As a professional musician in the business for just under 34 years based in Birmingham, UK, I always use Fair Deal Music as one my options for purchasing new musical equipment. I know the staff and management very well and likewise they always try to accommodate my needs when investing in items such as stage pianos etc and the like.

In this particular case I was hoping to part-exchange my 1 year old Yamaha YC73 Stage Keyboard, which I no longer required and was looking to move to a new Yamaha CK61 Stage Keyboard.

I was previously offered a part exchange deal through a music store in another part of the UK, but I was not looking forward to driving almost 130 miles each way to secure the deal.

Fair Deal Music offered me the same deal and were also able to price match the new Yamaha CK61 with the current Google street price together with the matching carry bag for this keyboard. After completing the calculation, I had enough credit on my account to purchase a used Fender Vibro Champ XD Amplifier as well as a Shure "Green Bullet" Harmonica Microphone through Fair Deal Music thus completing a very satisfactory purchase that met all my required needs.

To conclude, I would like to thank Wayne, Paul and store manager, Gary for accommodating my purchase and I can highly recommend this store to anyone looking for an up close and personal shopping experience, but where they also give you the time and space to demo your intended item or items until you are satisfied before parting with any money etc.

Cannot fault Fair deal music. I bought a 100W amp, that when delivered I did not think was suitable. When I contacted these guys and asked to exchange for another there was no problem at all. Customer service was very good, and the exchange happened no problem.

Excellent service. I mistakenly bought the wrong guitar pedal and Fair Deal Music handled the exchange to the gear I wanted brilliantly. The guys I spoke to in customer service and the warehouse were great. The whole procedure went smoothly and speedily, and I was kept fully informed throughout. They went above and beyond; actually phoning me several times within ten minutes of my call to verify the situation, and one guy went to the warehouse to get the pedal I wanted to make sure I got my replacement! Great customer service, great prices and rapid delivery. Thoroughly recommended as a company who actually care about their customers unlike the big music chains who care up to the point of sale and then seem to have very little interest in after sales. Not Fair Deal Music - they do care, before and after you get the goods.

Friday I phoned Fairdeal and asked about a bass amp. Tommy said he would get one to the shop from the warehouse. Monday I went to the shop and met Tommy who was cheerful and very helpful. He demonstrated the amp. We talked about guitars I had owned in the past and I was offered a fair price for a guitar, part-exchange. I was pleased with the visit.

Big thanks to Paul in the keyboard department for sorting my purchase of a Casio PX-560M Stage Piano. I reluctantly purchased another stage piano previously from a different retailer 3 weeks earlier and found the instrument too heavy to carry after performing at a few gigs. So I opted for the Casio, but was hoping for a good part exchange deal or even better, a straight swap. After very good consultation with Paul and the store manager, a straight swap was arranged and I was provided with a new Casio. It should be noted that Fair Deal Music were the only retailer in the UK with current stock and due to my forthcoming gig schedule, I was very lucky indeed that they managed to sort out my scenario in a most professional and customer friendly way. 10 out of 10 to Paul, his encouraging support and of course the management for agreeing to the deal. Will definitely use Fair Deal Music, Birmingham again!

Fair Deal Music is a really good, well managed shop, with friendly staff, many who have been there a long time. Some have moved on to other competitors, but at least they're still in the industry.

I like the no quibble exchange and they're always fair, (well I guess you'd expect that), even though there's very little mark up on what they sell.

Pile it high, sell it cheap is not what these guys are about. They may have a wide range, and possibly get discounts for bulk purchases from their suppliers, or special deals on end of line, but they do pass it on.

It is a real shop, with new and used bargains throughout. I remember going in and asking to see if they had a used hardcase that I could have really cheap. They found me an odd me one which was a bit marked for literally nothing.

The new shop is great addition to a long established shop in Birmingham. In fact, since it started in the late 80's, all the existing city centre shops have closed. I know that's not a good thing, but some have come since, and still remain, so amazingly, 30 years on, I think it is now the longest running?! There's a couple of branches of well known music retailers chain, close to City Centre, so I've included them, but one (guitar, guitar) has only been there for about 6 years or so, the other, (PMT), about 20 years.

We'll worth a visit, whether newest or oldest.

Bought a second hand £400 worth of guitar on Ebay from Fair Deal Music. The guitar is marked as used but described as like new, customer exchange. Guitar arrived within 3 days, perfectly packed. Most of all, to my absolute delight, it is not like new, it is sparkling NEW as far as I can see. Perfect purchase. Very happy

Bought an electro-acoustic guitar from FDM for my daughter. Had an issue with buzzing/vibration (a common problem with this type of guitar apparently) and was given advice on how to address. Although this seemed to resolve the issue, my daughter wasn't completely happy.

The store agreed, without issue, for return of the guitar and to arrange a courier. After discussing options, they have offered to exchange for another model at a significantly discounted price.

I had a minor issue with a guitar I had purchased, but Fair Deal were happy and willing to help me make an exchange. Service was friendly and helpful without the slightest trace of negative attitude.
