In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve. Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans. In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you. Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products. Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees. The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges. Farmers let me down after being a long time customer.

I was a Farmers Insurance customer with my car insurance for 47 years and with my homeowners insurance for more than 30 years. After Farmers paid out a couple of fairly large claims on my home, they canceled my homeowners insurance with a weak excuse that my house had increased in value by an amount more than they were willing to insure in my area (near Eagle Mountain Lake in the 76179 zip code). With this cancellation I had just one month to find a new policy. I was concerned that this might make it difficult for me to find the best deal, but I was surprised to find that no one else wanted to insure my house due to my relatively recent claims with Farmers. I cannot believe Farmers discarded me with just a month's notice knowing the difficulties I would face in finding a new policy. Speaking with my Farmers agent, I learned that she had known of the predicament I was going to face for over six months but had chosen not to share that information with me so she could try to find alternatives and retain me as a customer. Ultimately, she had to admit that she had no viable alternatives, and I finally found a no-name insurance company for my home, which I question will even pay if I have a claim. I could not be more disappointed in how Farmers Insurance and my Farmers Insurance agent treated me after all the years I remained loyal to their company. I would also like to point out that it took three years and the engagement of lawyers before Farmers completed the repairs that ultimately led to the cancellation of my policy. I had always believed them to be a very reputable company but have come to regret my confidence in them. I never thought Farmers would penalize me for having a claim after going so many years claim-free. I hope you have better luck with Farmers than I did if you find yourself facing a large claim and I hope they don't drop your insurance just for asking them to provide the insurance benefits you have paid for during all the years with no claims. I now give them a one star rating for leaving me in such a predicament when it was completely unnecessary.

Farmers Insurance lost my business…

Farmers Insurance lost my business after 30 years. This is a lengthy story but my insurance agent advised that he couldn't provide me with the best rates because my file with LexisNexis showed claims. I didn't remember making the claims so I reached out to LexisNexis asking them for details about these claims. Weeks later LexisNexis replied back that the claims could not be verified. I let my agent know that. He checked my file a couple of weeks later and those claims were still listed. I reached out to LexisNexis again and this time they advised me that Farmers insurance did confirm the claim from 2020.

There was no claim filed, the "accident" was the fault of the illegally parked vehicle and trailer. A truck with a low trailer that could not be seen from my rear view mirror was illegally parked on a strip of grass behind a row of legal parking spaces. I taped the back of my bumper against the trailer. I got out and could see no damage to the trailer and minimal damage to my bumper. I did what I thought I was supposed to do and reported it to Farmers. I never filed a claim and Farmers paid nothing. Their report shows I was not at fault and the representative with Farmers assured me this would in absolutely no way impact my rates.

That was not true because I am not being told I am not eligible for the best rates because of this illegally parked vehicle on my file as an accident/claim. I have reached out to the Florida Department of Financial Services they said I needed to have LexisNexis remove it. I've gone back and forth between LexisNexis and Farmers and niether want to take ownership and keep bouncing me back and forth between them. So I'm being punished in the form of higher rates due to someone else's negligence and LexisNexis and Farmers will do nothing.

Lies

We had Farmers for 18 years and had no claims. on 11/21/2023 we had a garage fire. We called Farmers and they came out and investigated. They said because we have a business they wouldn't cover anything. Meanwhile when the agent came out to take pictures i said we have a business and he said yes i can see that, I then asked him will they still cover everything? he said YES However they did not. I would NOT EVER refer them to anyone.

No longer blinded

I had been a Farmers customer for years and always loved how personal and great the customer service was, but lately have been struggling with this company. Upon renewal my policy shot up a most ridiculous amount. I missed it the first two times, but later discovered they were charging me $400 more for another driver on my policy! I had not agreed to this, nor knew who this person was. Once I renewed my policy, they agreed to then remove the other driver. With this person and their cost removed my policy was still a couple hundred too much. In conclusion, loyalty gets you nowhere. Every 6 months the cost rises a few hundred dollars more despite filing no claims, no tickets etc. all the while they say it's due to inflation and so many more statewide accidents. Guess their customers will be dishing out another couple hundred more, because I won't be contributing to the pool any longer.

Great company and service!

I recently had an outstanding experience with Farmers Insurance that truly exceeded my expectations. From the onset, their customer service was impeccable - friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to assist. When I faced an unexpected issue, their response was prompt and efficient, ensuring a smooth resolution that left me thoroughly impressed. The comprehensive coverage options they offered were tailored perfectly to my needs, providing peace of mind and excellent value for money. Moreover, the ease and clarity of their claims process stood out as a highlight, making what is often a stressful situation remarkably hassle-free. Overall, Farmers Insurance has proven to be a reliable and customer-focused provider, deserving of the highest recommendation for anyone seeking quality insurance services.

Horrible experience

Was courted by Farmers with a great price on auto and home. Switched to them and for 1st year 2023 all was good. NO claims. In 2024 renewal cars went up 100%. From 342 for six months to 852 now. Home went up 30%. What really angered me was I paid in full on both policies and they charged me an extra 30.00 because even though I bought both policies from Farmers rep they weren't the same company. They cared so little about me as a customer so I will be switching from them soon.

I am shocked with the quote Farmers…

I am shocked with the quote Farmers gave me for my homeowners insurance. I get dropped by QBE because their relationship ended w/ 21st century. I have been with 21st Century for over 20 years. I always paid my yearly premium on time and filed no claims. It turns out Farmers bought out 21st Century. So naturally I called them to get a renewal of my homeowners insurance. They quote me $5500.00, absolutely unconscionable. I was paying $1500,00 every year, now they want to jack me up. It's unbelievable. I then called AAA and they gave me a $2200 quote. Farmers is an insane company. I would not ever use them.

I would give no stars if possible, but…

I would give no stars if possible, but it does not allow it. Before using Farmer's for insurance, we had only had 1 claim that was quickly processed and approved by our prior insurance. Farmers is completely different. We had 2 claims. 1 for our roof, that was denied. They came out, stated "Only hail damage is covered",and denied the claim, though there was water spots on the upstairs ceiling. Result,we paid out of pocket to have the roof repaired, with the adjuster apologizing profusely, but "As much as I want to,there is nothing I can do,because only hail damage is covered". Our second claim was for a water heater failure, which resulted in water damage and mold. After nearly 2 weeks of dealing with no water, multiple contractors, and an extremely irritated family, Farmers denied the claim. They would help with nothing. Thetre explanation was it was not covered. So,we were stuck with an estimate of nearly 20,000 dollars, which our insurance would not help with,at all. Not the water damage, any of the mold,or anything else. If you do insure with Farmers, understand you have the required policy for your mortage, but you have no actual coverage. They will deny all claims regardless of cause or condition. I would not reccomend using them at all.

Run away from this horrible company

Run away from this horrible company! They refuse to cover anything ... tree falls on the house, sucks to be you ... hail, really sucks to be you ... cars damaged, 🤣 (I was literally asked why I would want to fix my car and not just replace it because it's so old ... 2011 w/30k miles, paid off) ... refuse factory parts. They make the claims process is so complicated, convoluted and infuriating so you'll give up on the claim and they won't have to pay out. You'll spend hours on the phone and never get an answer to your questions. They'll raise premiums regularly w/o cause or explanation. They'll treat you like a scum bag.

Got Home Policy for my 95 yr old Mom, Canceling!

I just signed my 95 yr old Mom up for a new policy 2 days ago and will be canceling. These people are the most rude and inept I've ever dealt with. I'm so sorry I brought my Mom to this. I should have read reviews. I'm surprised Farmer's remains in business. You will need an outside Public Adjuster to settle every claim with them. From what I've read in so many other claims, these people are Charlatans, worse than Allstate! The ineptitude and rudeness of their customer service in dealing with a new customer is enough to scare me! They also insist you must have a Smart Phone to be able to login to your account. This is very short sighted. Goodbye!

If I Could Give Zero Stars I Would

If I could give zero stars I would. Farmers Insurance is the shadiest insurance company with whom i have done business. They will lie, cheat and collaborate against you to save their bottomline $$. I have been a loyal client with Farmers for 16 years. One of the reasons I chose them is because the homeowners insurance covered roofing cost no matter the age. They changed my policy without proper notification to me. Now, they are refusing to cover the cost of repairing my roof. About 7 months ago, Farmers changed my roof coverage without notifying me. I spoke with a Farmers representative, Eric, who told me my policy was emailed to me. He said I requested to receive it paperless. This is not true. I have auto and home insurance policies with Farmers. My auto policy/billing statement and my home insurance billing statements are all mailed to me. Coincidently, my homeowners policy is the only one supposedly that I requested "paperless." Makes No Sense. I have never requested paperless policy documents! Therefore, I would not be looking to receive my policy by email.
My insurance agent Annette Adamcik said my homeowners insurance should have been sent by mail then she said email and then she changed back to by mail. Annette Adamcik (my agent) tells me, "oh those new representatives don't really know anything." She said, "I spoke to a seasoned representative and he said you should have received your policy by mail." Bull. They lie and say anything to save their dollars. I received nothing by mail or email. If I had received the notice and became aware my roof coverage was going to change I would have had it inspected before the renewal, BUT OF COURSE THAT IS WHAT THEY DID NOT WANT. They are confused and they try to confuse you with all their fast talk. The company and my agent say they will "investigate" the matter. They do not call back until you email or reach out to them. Claims representative Kyle "investigated" and said that I requested paperless so it was emailed to me. Then in the next sentence also states my policy was mailed to me on October 4, 2022. Why would Farmers do both when you said I requested paperless and that's been your grounds for not honoring RCV coverage of my roof. Meanwhile, I am left with a $15,000 roof repair. They are BIG Liars! Beware! Please don't think they care about your business. They don't! I think they operate by the motto that a "sucker" is born everyday.

My agent Annette Adamcik told me the agents decided not to inform clients about the roof coverage change because Farmers was sending communication. Mrs. Adamcik and I speak on the phone throughout the year, specifically during policy renewal time. I even have her cell number and she has mine. My agent can talk to me about her daughters, grandchildren, mother, family life and everything else, taking up 30 to 40 minutes of my valuable time, but NEVER mention that there would be a change to my homeowners insurance coverage!! That is complete NEGLIGENCE on the part of the agent! I trusted my agent because of the relationship I thought we had. Annette Adamcik knew my roof coverage change and allowed this harm to fall upon her client. Don't be fooled by the friendly conversation. Annette is about the business! I want them to honor the policy that I have had for over 15 years.Farmers and Annette Adamcik were intentionally negligent in informing me of my homeowners policy changes. The confusion they caused worked to their advantage. I would not recommend Farmers Insurance!

Bait and switch. Quote you a low rate and increase your rates every year regardless if you have zero claims and tickets. Terrible company. Local agents are unavailable and I have never been able to talk to them.

Nothing but problems!

I have had nothing but problems with Farmers Insurance since they acquired my MetLife auto and home policies. MetLife was great! They handled updates to my policies and claims seamlessly. Farmers is completely different.

First off, there is no such thing as first call resolution with their customer service center. They really don't know what they are doing as a whole. I needed to have the effective date on my auto policy corrected. It took 3 weeks and something like 25 calls. Not exaggerating! I had to get my job involved since I have the discounted policy with Farmers through them, and the DMV was sending me letters saying that I need to pay a fee because I did not have Auto insurance.

Right now I am trying to have my rental office added to my renters insurance policy as an interested party, which is normal for renters, for about a month. CSP 1 instead added them as a mortgage company to my RENTER'S policy. Not sure why they did that since the word mortgage never came out of my mouth. CSP 2 said that it could not be done. CSP 3 sent me some form and said that I needed to fill it out. I filled it out and sent it back a week and a half ago and heard nothing back about it. I've reached out to them on Twitter both using a DM and posting public tweets together response. It should not take all of this to make changes to my insurance policy. Now my renter's office is emailing me saying that I'm out of compliance with my lease for not maintaining renters insurance with them listed as an interested party.

If it wasn't for the discount through my job, I would have left a long time ago. This is ridiculous! I'm about to do some insurance shopping to see if I can find something that's close to the discounted price they offer. Hopefully I can find something that comes close because any insurance company has to be better than this.

Update: I switched to Geico the day after posting this. Now Farmers doesn't know how to cancel my policies despite my sending a written request. 🤦🏽‍♀️

getting bent over

have had farmers for some time, never made any claims,2023 statement comes up with an increase of $70.00 dollars, called agent his response was they anticipate storms in 2023 so the cost goes up,told him that i was going to shop around on pricing, come to find out that they were the highest out of the 3 other companies, contract was up so i decided to try other company and save $200.00 since i am retired, they decided to charge me for breaking up the bundle pkg of $265.30 and put it on my home insurance, that really irked me off, they were $200.higher than the other companies from the beginning and come to find out they will be higher than normal for the house insurance because of the storms, both my accounts were paid in full, so do not believe that you are getting a savings when you bundle you are being taken by there numbers game they play on the people, shop before you commit. sharks in the water.

TERRIBLE

We have been customers with MetLife since 2011 until they switched to farmers! Unfortunately, that was when all of our issues started and we weren’t even aware yet. Hailstorm in April so we filed claims on 3 vehicles. 2 of which to find out that they had liability instead of full coverage so they weren’t gonna cover. They have told us they have the telephone call where we asked for full coverage. They even sent someone to look at one of the vehicles bc it was an antique so there were extra steps to make it full coverage. Close to $10k in damage that they aren’t covering. The 3rd was an RV in which they didn’t even have the correct coverage on so our registration got suspended through the state. $100 fee to reinstate. Next, although I’ve made numerous phone calls since October, they have yet to remove a vehicle so I’ve paid an extra 8 months on this vehicle in addition to my others. I have been told the manager will call me, but have yet to see that happen. They transfer me to claims since we have open claims but then claims state it’s a policy issue so back to policy they send me. I’ve spent HOURS of wasted time being transferred back an forth. At this point, I’d never recommend farmers again unless they go above and beyond in making this right. After being a LOYAL customer for so long, you would think they would take care of you.. don’t count on it! Make the switch before it’s you!

Farmers bails out for even loyal customers

As a loyal customer of Farmers, we followed their advice for 42 years. The one time we really depended on them to reimburse us for a car accident that caused two stroke buildups and concussion symptoms just before launching my business and losing 5 years of income, they failed to show any integrity at all.

I strongly suggest you avoid Farmers as they avoid us when we as customers need them most. The reviews below are legit. There should be a law that punishes negative patterns, such as Farmers has shown to most with legit claims.

They dragged this case out for 5 years and low-balled us way below the $500K we should have gotten.

These company's that claim to work for…WHO?

These company's that claim to work for you, have some strange formula that must allow them to really believe any of that. To have auto and home coverage for 5+ yrs w/ no claims on either policy and totally receive the least amount of communication from these agents, who have no concern if you cancel! And cancel due to Auto rates that never once were less due to their input or corporate required revenue!
I mean I would think that any concerned agent who truly had any concern for their client, might ask if there was any thing that could be offered or reviewed to continue to be of service and possibly understand what led to our needing to dump them.
Another interesting. feature is how they can collect nearly two months early on the annual home Ins. policy.

Horrible insurance company

This is a horrible insurance company. I have been a long time policyholder without any accident claims. Last month, I was involved in an accident that wasn't my fault. The company denied my claims for the damages. On top of that, they increased my premiums as a result. The company is focused on profits over the policyholders.
