In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve. Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans. In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you. Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products. Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees. The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges. Our Story Our story began with the simple goal of insuring the vehicles of rural farmers but as the world changed, so did we. Visit our timeline for a tour through the decades of Farmers.

I filed 2 claims
I filed 2 claims, totaling $1500. I called my agent to ask if my last claim would negatively impact my insurance policy and was told "probably not". I filed the claim and was cancelled 3 months later. Now I'm having trouble finding ANY coverage. If my agent had been honest with me, I would not have filed the claim and would not be in this very difficult and frustrating situation.
Terrible company all around
First off we have been customers of Farmers Insurance for 13 years with zero claims. We moved into our current house 2 years ago and of course stayed with Farmers. When asked by our agent the age of the roof we told him it was replaced in 2020 it’s right on the house listing. For some reason he decided to go with the default, which is the age of the house. We were hit by a major hail storm on April 17, 2026 and our adjuster pointed out the incorrect roof age listed on our policy. She told us if we can come up with a permit or contractors invoice they would make it right. Guess what?? They did not make it right. They depreciated the roof 21 years and sent us a $1,700 check. When asked how they could rely on an incorrectly listed roof age over credible evidence they simply replied “We don’t care”. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with any company.
To anyone considering Farmers…
To anyone considering Farmers Insurance, I would like to share my experience.
I recently applied for homeowners insurance and was told that I was not eligible because I had filed insurance claims in the past. In my opinion, this makes very little sense. The purpose of insurance is to protect homeowners when unexpected losses occur. If customers are penalized for legitimately using insurance when they need it, it raises questions about the value of having coverage in the first place.
What was even more surprising is that I have never had an insurance policy with Farmers Insurance. Despite never being their customer, I was denied coverage based on my prior claims history.
While every company has the right to set its underwriting guidelines, I found this experience disappointing and frustrating. As a result, I will be taking my business elsewhere and would not personally recommend Farmers Insurance based on my experience.
I encourage others to ask detailed questions before investing time in the application process.
Farmers Insurance has to be one of the…
Farmers Insurance has to be one of the worst companies to deal with when it comes to insurance claims. I recently had an incident where I hit a deer. They had fought back and forth with the auto body shop.Refusing to pay certain things based on the standard.Which no one seems to know the standard.I have full coverage.Because I do have at least vehicle in pennsylvania, which is required by law.And I pay my premium. After three months with my car at the auto body shop. They refuse to pay five hundred dollars that the body shop needed to release my car.I ended up paying an extra five hundred dollars on top of my deductible, just to get my car back. I already notified the pennsylvania insurance commission.I have reported it to my agent. No one seems to be able to help me in this matter.I will definitely be canceling my policy with this insurance company and finding another one.I used to have nationwide where I had no issues with any accidents or repairs or anything done on my car. They always took care of me and they were fair if you're looking for automobile insurance or any other insurance for that matter, stay clear of farmers.
Farmers lied, refused our claims.
After inspecting our home and writing our policy farmers said our contents policy of over 200k was void because our roof was not new. This is after they inspected roof and wrote the policy. We are having to sue Farmers as they underpaid nearly everyone who filed a claim in my town after a hail storm. My agent would not take my calls and all claims for the storm were farmed out to a cutthroat out of state adjustment company. Farmers also wrote us that we refused to let their adjusters examine our damaged home so our entire claim was void. When the farmers hired inspector came an attorney and 9 witnesses saw him on our roof and in our house. He was welcomed and stayed for an hour. I HAVE PHOTOS. Farmers is terrible and should be forbidden to due business in NM. They also cancelled our policy because we filed a claim. This company is a disgrace and a stain on the industry.
I was a 35 year customer of MetLife, Farmers is a scam.
I was a 35 year customer of MetLife. When Farmers bought MetLife, the customer service went to hell. I attributed it to integration pains. Then over the course of three years my insurance cost went up 3X. Then i had a minor claim where my truck mirror was struck and broke, $675 claim. The next policy they doubled my auto insurance... for five cars, four drivers $9000 for six months. I got rid of the five vehicle and they raised my six month rate to $11K. WTF? I asked them for a rate review and I was told more cars cost less. If i raised my deductible from $200 to $1000 they would save me $300 per six months. These people clearly did not want me as a customer, There were no claims accept the one small mirror, no home owners claims, always paid on time. Farmers sucks, ruined MetLife thru aquisition. Go to any other insurance company. Run if you are a customer. I'm now paying $2800 for six months same coverage - Farmers is a rip off scamming icehole company.
I would give 0 if possible.
I would give 0 if possible.
Don't ever have anything to do with this insurance. They recently apply for > 30% rate increase again in CA. However, what did they do to their customers? nothing. They will reject your claim based on "wear and tear" which literally reject 99.9% of claims.
I have a roof leak during two severe storm in CA recently. Farmers insurance adjuster told me that my roof is not due to wind damage because there was "no wind". Excuse me? wind gusting at 80mph nearby at the peak during the two atmospheric river storms. Worse, neither of Farmers Insurance people I interacted with, including this adjuster, showed any sympathy to your suffering from disaster.
No support for clients
A friend had Farmers home insurance and needed repairs due to damages. Neftali Rodriguez was the adjuster and referred a contractor who wrote questionable invoices, and Neftali was in agreement with it. When they tried to talk to Neftali’s boss, she was also on Neftali’s side. Be careful with Farmers Ins., the insurance adjuster named Neftali and wrongful claims on invoices. They all work together and do not support you as the client.
Don’t insure with farmers insurance
Title: Farmers Insurance – Bad Faith in Clear Liability Claim
On March 17, 2025, I was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Las Vegas caused by a driver working for Uber. Farmers Insurance, who covers the at-fault driver, has already accepted 100% liability.
Despite this, Farmers has:
• Only offered $18,085, which barely covers hospital charges and would leave me with nothing for lost wages, pain and suffering, anxiety, or ongoing medical problems.
• Insisted they must pay the hospital directly due to a supposed lien, yet have never provided proof of any properly recorded lien under Nevada law.
• Ignored my repeated requests for documentation and refused to issue funds directly to me, even though I am the injured party.
This process has gone on for months. I have not been able to work, I continue to suffer physically and emotionally, and Farmers has made no meaningful effort to resolve this matter in good faith.
In my opinion, this is bad faith claims handling. I have filed formal complaints with the Nevada Division of Insurance and the Nevada Attorney General Consumer Protection Bureau, and I will continue to pursue accountability.
Consumers should know what they may face if they have to deal with Farmers on a clear liability claim. Enrique Hernandez
Petty Service From Agent
I attempted to call my insurance agent at Farmers to get my claims history letter. It became apparent that they started ignoring my calls and emails after I mentioned that I wanted to cancel my insurance, even though I was still covered at the time. The behavior was quite petty. If you're looking for professional and satisfactory customer service, they would definitely not be my first choice.
Absolutely an awful insurance company
Absolutely an awful insurance company. I've had claims in the past from car accidents to hurricanes and the insurance company always did their part but not Farmers Insurance, they don't even show up and only give a run around.I would not want anyone to go through what I had to deal with which is still an ongoing nightmare. AVOID FARMERS INSURANCE AT ANY COST
Absolutely horrible customer service
Absolutely horrible customer service. As a contractor I deal with 10 to 15 claims a week. This entire company from the agents to the adjuster are beyond unprofessional and rude.
Anyone shopping around for insurance please use someone else. They will deny your claims, give you the run around, low ball your claim amount. I highly recommend anyone other then this company.
Refusing to Cover Full Cost of Drywall Repair Despite 10 Years of Premiums
# Review: Farmers/Foremost Insurance - Claim Experience
## 1-Star Rating ★☆☆☆☆
After 10 years as a Farmers/Foremost policyholder with consistent on-time premium payments, I am documenting my recent experience with an interior drywall damage claim.
The facts of the situation are as follows:
1. Farmers/Foremost has acknowledged that my interior drywall damage is covered under my policy.
2. The insurance company has issued payment of approximately $700 for the covered damage.
3. I have obtained three separate professional contractor quotes for the necessary repairs. The lowest quote is $3,500, and this does not include all required materials.
4. When presented with these three independent professional quotes, Farmers/Foremost representatives stated that all three quotes were "unreasonable" and suggested I continue searching for lower-cost options.
5. Upon inquiry, the claims representative, Kevin Moser, explained that the $700 payment amount was determined by inputting data into a spreadsheet program that calculated the payment, without apparent consideration for actual repair costs in my area.
6. My premium payments to Farmers/Foremost over my 10-year history as a policyholder exceed the amount of this claim. When I inquired about this fact, the representative declined to address the question.
7. This matter has remained unresolved for one month despite multiple communications with my broker, contractors, and Farmers/Foremost representatives.
8. Communications with Farmers/Foremost have been consistently one-sided; representatives do not return calls unless repeatedly contacted.
The end result is that I must pay over $2,800 out of pocket for repairs that Farmers/Foremost has acknowledged are covered under my policy.
I am providing this information so that other consumers can make informed decisions regarding their insurance provider selection.
EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was in a minor automobile accident June 6, 2022. Irma Ashton has been my Farmers Insurance Agent for about 29 years. My first call was to her, then to the claims agent who was not very good at following up with me. So I spoke to her Supervisor, Julie Morcos. OMG, this lady is AMAZING. She either answered each call I made or same day returned my call. And I have to admit I was not at all the easiest person to deal with. I was very upset that from a very minor accident the plaintiff felt she hit could easily walk away with a huge settlement. Absolutely ridiculous. Over the last 2 &1/2 years Julie has been more than patient spending literally hours explaining the step by step process. She is not only professional, knowledgeable, and so kind. When we end the call, I genuinely feel she really cares and I am not just another client. She is such an asset to Farmers Insurance. If Farmers acknowledges superior customer service, she should receive the employee of the year award.
Rips Off Non-Customer Not At-Fault Accident Victims: Pays Off Low Value On Totaled Vehicles vs. Other Companies Pay High Value
We were rear ended in our Ford F150 by a Dodge Ram that had a huge bull guard on the front. It completely totaled our truck. My husband and daughter were seriously injured, the impact was so hard. Our truck was in great condition and had a resell value of over $31,000. Our insurance offered high value of $31,000 and Farmers offered $27,000. We rejected their offer, and never signed paperwork, and told them we are accepting our insurance's offer, but they sent a check and never returned the calls to the claims dept. of our insurance, who needed them to release possession of our truck. Farmers is a rip-off, they charge the highest rates in the nation and low balls victims of their insureds. They really don't even deserve 1 star.
No Accountability Farmers, Scammers
Absolutely outrageous customer service. Their claims department is populated with disingenuous people who lie - Elizabeth Cruz and Monica Ivicevic - who talk an circles to avoid accountability and taking responsibility for APPALLING CISTONER SERVICE - they won’t investigate Farmers own customer service even though you called them to investigate insurance fraud - they operate without any regard to the facts, give the benefit of the doubt to others, and screwed me out of a my good driver discount, without my knowledge for a suspicious claim I could have settled on my own. This is an awful company that is not to be trusted
I had a small VERY SMALL accident in…
I had a small VERY SMALL accident in September 2022. When I got my renewal I felt at the time my increase was exhorbitant. i am here to tell you it is not their fault. Why people have the audacity to file injurious claims to collect from your insurance. THIS HURTS YOU TOO. This is not a victimless crime. They have been working diligently to resolve this. I had a minor accident in April 2024, when stopped at a light, and a young person hit me straight in the back. I was blessed not to be injured. The car sustained minor damage. It ended right there.
Farmers Insurance has had a claim that…
Farmers Insurance has had a claim that I have tried to resolve for many weeks. They have failed to communicate with me, lost documents, failed to work in good faith to resolve the issue and now I will have to file a law suit to collect a small sum of money just to resolve the matter. I have asked multiple times to talk to a senior claims agent. I was told the claim agent was new, had issues and the matter would be handled. He has not resolved the issue, lost emails, failed to obtain records and now a law suit is the only option with the multiple emails, calls and documented efforts have failed to resolve the case.
Jaw-dropping incompetence
Farmers is not my insurance carrier, but I had to deal with them recently after a car accident that was the fault of one of their customers. The car was declared totaled, although still completely driveable. They told me, not once, but twice that I needed to notify a repair shop to release my car to Farmers, even though my car was not at either shop. One of their few prompt actions was then to immediately notify me that they wouldn't be responsible for storage charges. They changed claims adjusters repeatedly, to the point where even the local Farmers office didn't know which adjuster I was dealing with. When they sent me to assessment of my car's value, they requested that I sign a form electronically. Two places in the instructions it said the name on the form had to exactly match the name on my car title, which it didn't; however, there was no way for me to change the name on the electronic form. After 4 days of trying repeatedly to reach the claims adjuster by email and phone, I gave up and electronically signed the form. In several weeks of dealing with various claims adjusters, none ever answered a call. My calls always went to voicemail. Five business days after I started trying to reach them, I finally received an email response telling me that the name on the form was correct, even though I had the title and could see that it wasn't. Apparently it didn't really matter, because they then told me that a check had been issued. Seven days later, the check still hadn't arrived, but it was a good thing, because I got an email saying the check was issued for the wrong amount, and they had stopped payment on it. It also warned that I shouldn't cash or deposit the check because they wouldn't be responsible for any related bank fees. I did finally receive the check for the correct amount, and the check cleared, but this process was exceedingly frustrating and stressful. I hope I never have to deal with this company again!
Bad experience with Farmers …
We've been with Farmers in Springfield / Ozark Mo. for 10 years with several automobiles. a home, and rv insurance .Our payments have always been on time.
The company has had 4 new brokers in the last year and a half.
Tornados have passed close several times in the past three years doing minimal damage to our home property which is a rare occurrence and the prior 7 years and no claims
This is nature (act of God) and no fault of ours.
Now comes Farmers with a consultation notice saying we no longer meet their requirements. What is insurance for?
I'm contacting the federal insurance commission for help on the matter.
