I had an hour flying with Matt in the Super Cub to revalidate my licence and to reacquaint myself with taildraggers. The weather was perfect, the plane fantastic and Matt was brilliant. Friendly, professional and obviously pretty damn good with the Cub! In the cockpit his explanations were calm and clear, as was the feedback.
Overall I had a bloody great time and I will return for a bit of farm strip fun along with some time in the J3.
Many thanks Matt thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and flying with you.
Over the last two months I’ve had absolutely excellent, friendly, professional - yet relaxed - instruction from Matt, Arthur, Quinn and Neil at Farm Strip Flying (FSF). After a considerable number of years “away” from aviation, to be able to get back up to speed and pass my skills test with these lovely people, flying their J3 and modified Super Cub, has been a totally enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Defford Croft is located in unrestricted airspace and surrounded by gorgeous country, it’s honestly hard to think of anywhere better than FSF to either rebuild experience, as I have, or do a tailwheel conversion (as everyone should, just for fun if nothing else). During my refresher hours, which have been completed at a pace very much dictated by me - my somewhat rusty ability has been challenged at times, as is only right - we’ve visited five other airfields and strips so there’s been plenty of variety. Matt tries unbelievably hard to be accommodating on schedules and is also committed to offering superb value in a welcoming, refreshing, environment where the flying and adding a skillset is a joy. I feel lucky and privileged to be able to aviate with these guys. Highly recommended…..
Most recommended tail-wheel conversion experience! A friendly, professional, very accommodating, patient instruction, all with well maintained aircraft. Had a large choice of farm strips to practice on which boosted my confidence. In short a very pleasant and memorable experience that I will always cherish!
Highly recommend a visit for anyone who wishes to experience tailwheel flying or wants to build skill and capability in real tailwheel aircraft!
Arthur & Matt offer a unique, professional and very friendly flying operation at a fantastic little grass airfield in Worcestershire (Croft Farm). Having two Piper Cubs (a J3 & PA18) they are uniquely able to offer a broad range of tailwheel training including proper back country 'bush flying' on the PA18 which is truly epic, comparable only with the freedom & intensity of float flying! Their operation has a definite 'group flying' feel and the location is beautiful & free of airspace restrictions.
Once you've experienced it, you'll be left wanting more!
I've been flying with Matt in his L-3 Grasshopper for about 6 months. During this time I have completed a tailwheel conversion, taken part in formation flights and gained confidence in flying in and out of farm strips.
His instruction style is very friendly and sure to make you a better pilot!
