I am completing the Postgraduate Diploma course jn Fashion design online. The information provided for the course is great and the support available is fantastic. I work in Education so have a high standard of expectation and this course exceeds them. The support and feedback I've received on my coursework from Fiona as I've been progressing is outstanding. And the information provided to help you complete the assignment and course content independently is over and above what I expected.

I have been with the academy for three years now. I have taken long to finish as i am doing it alongside my job and raising my daughter. The academy was so understanding and supportive helping me carry on with my course.
The course itself the national higher diploma has been brilliant so far. I can’t believe how much i have learned. I like how they the assignments have been developed. I learned so many things just doing the assignment.
My experience with British Academy of Fashion Design has been nothing but great.
I am learning so much and I am so happy I chose this Academy to study my dream.
Teachers are always quick to respond to any queries and so helpful!
The course is complete and thorough
Thank you British Academy of Fashion Design.
What can I say, first of all after working through 2 assignments, I was notified on a Friday that the course structure was all changing on the Monday coming and that they added a foundation assignment of 4 units within that. Unnecessary stress over a weekend of not being able to get hold of anyone for an explanation.
Fine ok, they gave a free year on the basis of that change. They tell me I have to do this foundation unit regardless, in no period was I told that student handbook was changed. I find out after finishing foundation unit reading new handbook that if I have previously BTEC qualifications I could skip it. Fine ok, I already did the unit, just extra wasted time.
Help on forum isn't really help, questions are always replied with a "video tutorial" over web cam that I do not have and that you can see student work and ask questions there. It is assumed that you're willing to pay £200 a month for Adobe illustrator. Any examples shown on online lessons jump from one student work to the next, some still refering to old course structure, it's hard to tell what you're supposed to submit.
Advise is inconsistent, so much so that I have a record of all advice given to me. First I was told they could check assignments before submitting, I asked to review and told they can't review, but they can check it on track for missing parts. 2nd time I asked if they can check if missing parts, I was told they cannot, that can only check on track. 3rd I asked if they could check on track, I was told they cannot, that I should just submit. I'm pretty sure if I'm in classroom it would be different matter. The problem is the brief isn't always clear, I'm literally guessing some of the things as it is not clear which section it goes in, like someone rushed the brief and materials without double checking. And why can't they write in simple English, I feel like I'm given the run around.
Only thing you have as library is Bloomsbury and that is only Bloomsbury books and only a limited subscription. Fine, because I have lots of books.
Some of the things I expected as part of HNC course and not HND, even if you have HNC, it seems in HND course either it was never covered in HNC or they simple think you are stupid. I never took their HNC because I already have that. In HND, it seems students never learnt to draw, know fabrics or sewing from HNC course, what exactly were they learning if I'm learning this in their HND course?
I'm having to harvard reference everything, like as if I don't know fabric properties, sewing or drawing, almost as if I'm not allowed to have previous knowledge and sewing skills. Really degrading, my thoughts apparently could plagiarise someone else's opinion when there is a limited number of words in the English dictionary. Someone famous would have been repeatedly described in same way. I was told I used n.d. for harvard referencing, but all the examples given as examples in lessons are all n.d. what a great example!?
Coursework generally takes about a week and a half for marking on average. They say 2 weeks, it's slower in comparison to other courses, I have had a couple marked in 3 days though.
I hope it improves as I go along, so far forums is full of introductions, barely any material about assignments. My only plus side for this course is that, almost halfway into course before you do any sewing for a full garmet, so it maybe cheaper.
The in person class was helpful and fun. The teachers were excellent! When I started submitting my assignments, I got detailed feedback and there was always someone on standby to direct me on every step. All you have to do is ask a question pertaining to a particular assignment and the answer will come in no time.
Overall, my experience has been great as a diploma in fashion design student . The history of fashion and all the various movements in fashion were eye opening. What this course will make you do is think outside the box and help you to appreciate every fashion piece you see whether from the past or now. I loved it! Thank you BAFD!
I am still at the beginning of my course, but I believe that it will give me the knowledge and skills to become a successful fashion designer.
I am learning so much with British Academy of Fashion Design I can but recommand for those who have a goal in Fashion.
I am currently a post graduate diploma student. I have truly enjoyed the course. It has exposed me to more of what fashion entails. The tutors are very supportive, very cleari, and on time with their responses. The library they partner with, Bloomsbury, is also a very helpful resource. All together I will recommend this academy. They definitely give the confidence to achieve.
I am really happy to be a student at this wonderful Academy, because all teachers and staff here are very kind and helpful. Although it is online course but I feel like I am in class, as the teachers always in touch with me, they explain very well and reply to my emails and questions promptly. They give me the best explanation and advice. In addition, the Academy is providing the up-to date resources, I can access easily to my course materials and I can find all resources that I need, such as assignment's documents, videos about the units and etc. Furthermore, studying this course is very beneficial for me because when I finish this course I can achieve my ambitions and goals such as finding a good job in fashion design and making my own business.
The home study course does not provide enough support for students to complete the assignments. The questions are vague and being a course where you are completing the assignments on your own, it is difficult to know what they really expect of you. The result is that so many students end up paying the full money for the course but never finish the programme. I feel like they don't really care as long as they have received all the money.
I had a wonderful experience with the British Academy of Fashion Design. From the start, their tutors professional, supportive, and truly passionate about helping students succeed. The course was well-structured, engaging, and filled with industry-relevant knowledge that gave me the confidence and skills I needed to grow.
What impressed me the most was the support I received after completing the course—they, especially Sara Alves, went above and beyond by helping me secure an internship in the fashion industry working with a designer I admire.
I’m incredibly grateful to the academy and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to break into the fashion world.
I’m doing a post graduate diploma in fashion design. Have been on the course since 2022 and have enjoyed it more that I expected. The assignments are designed in a way that after finishing each one you end up learning so much without even noticing. The tutors and supporting staff are brilliant and never let you down if you need their help. It’s a nationally recognised degree and i 💯 recommend it .
I am currently doing the Higher National Diploma, and have enjoyed every moment so far doing the course. I get so much help and support from my tutors Patricia and Sophie and do encourage me on each assignment. Because I work full time, I do find it difficult to work around the course and time scale, but there are options out there available for you which is reassuring.
I am determined to get this course completed.
I would recommend 100%.
the Programs they offer are the best to reinvent your creativity. and I will definitely recommend their Fashion Design courses for the people who already have a idea in design and want to design a solid collection that meets a global standard.
They absolutely the most helpful and supportive team, I had some issues to start the course and it was going to be expired but when I spoke to Sara and I explained to her my situation they gave me 1 extra year to finish it and they waved the fees after I submitted my documents. The course is rich and I guess it will make a huge difference in my career.
I am currently doing the Higher National Certificate home study and I am so pleased with my experience up until now! My tutor, Patricia, is very helpful, always answers any questions I have very quickly and explains the assignments very well. The only thing that takes a little more time is the grading, but this is usually not any longer than a week which is definitely not a problem but sometimes tricky when you’re on a time crunch. I am very happy with my experience at BAFD and would definitely recommend!
