As others have noted, £11.95 was taken from my CC without my consent but, on complaining (through their website), it was reimbursed.

The way this outfit works is to charge you 95p to email you a PDF of a manual if it finds one. Then, 7 days later, it takes £11.95 on a bimonthly 'tacit' basis - which means your account will continue automatically to be debited unless you cancel. I cancelled on day 6 but the debit still went ahead...

Findanymanual is part of HINX ltd, whose registered address is Flat E, 14-18 Sloane Court East, London, SW3 4TG. I should have been suspicious: this is just a residential block of flats.

Their reply to my complaint started 'Dear valued customer...' They were at pains to say all these charges were clearly stated on the home page of their website. Yes, they are: but ONLY if:

* You are NOT logged in. The home page is not accessible if you are;

* You scroll down past loads of (possibly fake) testimonials to some pale grey text on a white background that is very difficult to read. The statement of charges is buried within the section headed 'Benefits of our Premium service'.

* Don't look under 'Terms and Conditions' - under 'Subscriptions' these just say 'You will be billed at the current rate and at the frequency advertised on the Website' (without saying on what page). Talk about being evasive!

As for the manual: it was for my new TalkTalk modem (a Sagemcom FAST 5364). Sagemcom's website wasn't remotely helpful: this modem is proprietary to TalkTalk, who want to keep such information secret. Google turned up Findanymanual, so I pursued. As is happened, the 'manual' was just a load of screenshots that didn't tell me anything I couldn't have worked out for myself.

Previously, I have nearly always found manuals just by Googling - manufacturers' websites are usually the best bet, especially for new(ish) kit. Don't touch Findanymanual: use Google instead!

£99 rip off

I was charged £99,95 for a pdf my bank picked it up and have blocked this company. I am disgusted that they try to rip people off like this. I accept that there was probably some mention of the £99 fee but it was so well hidden that it was impossible to find, my bank have been wonderful £99 is an awful lit of money for a pension to lose.

My elderly parents did the same as…

My elderly parents did the same as everyone else and didn’t read all the information properly. I emailed them explaining this and that the download that was sent was not the owners handbook they were looking for. I had an email back explaining the service and telling me they would refund the money. That was excellent as they did not have to do that. Thank you.

I had a charge of £49.95

I had a charge of £49.95 taken on November 20th which was only 4 days after initial 95p charge for 7 days “ discovery “. I reminded them of their ts&cs and pointed out they were in breach of their ts&cs rendering any subscription null and void
Got an email saying as a gesture of goodwill they were refunding my £49.95. It’s already been paid into my account

Total scam avoid

I payed 95p for a bread making instructions. A week later they took £99 out of my Bank account. Bank couldn’t stop but blocked for any other attempts. Emailed company loads told me it was a monthly subscription of £99 for something I never asked for. Eventually I have been refunded. Total scam how many people havnt realised they are taken money out of there bank accounts unknowingly.

I've just had the same experience as…

I've just had the same experience as everyone else. Paid £0.95 for a manual which was completely illegible. Asked them to send again. A few days later £99.95 had been taken from my account as £0.95 was a promo for 7 days and was then 'by default assumed I was subscribing and £99.95 would be charged monthly. Trying to sort out. Have you all noticed how pale the print is on their web site you can hardly read it If like me you are a spectacles user you simply cannot see it. I am 80 years and I cannot tell you how upsetting this is plus I cannot afford to be £99.50 down in my monthly expenses. Crippling

Fraudulent Charge to my Credit card.

I paid for a manual €0.95 on 19th December. They sent me the wrong Manual. On receiving my credit card statement I find they have debited my account on 27th December for €99.95. I phoned Credit card company to tell them that I had not authorised any such pament. They tell me there is nothing they can do and I should contact findanymanual to ask them for a refind. I doubt very much I will get any joy but what surprised me was that the Credit card Company said they could not stop any future payments! I will be following this to see what steps I can take to stop these people. Since posting this report, I have been doing some research and find that Findanymanual is owned by a company called Hinx based in Romford Essex. I have also just read their Terms and
Conditions to quote, "We want you to be happy with the Service that we provide. If, in the first 30 days You decide that the Service is not what you expected or as advertised, you may contact us for a full refund of any charges incurred."

"If you believe you have been billed in error and wish to apply for a refund you should contact our customer services team. You may only be entitled to a refund if you have not used the service - please note that the charge for the trial period is non-refundable."
I have applied for a refund by email and await their response!
Having written to them, threatening to report them, to my surprise, I finally got a refund.

Total scam

Total scam. Avoid at all costs. My experience is similar to most of the other people posting here. Paid £0.99 for a manual (which incidentally was the wrong one) and then had £99.95 debited from my account 6 days later. I am totally appalled. Apparently, to add insult to injury the £99.95 is a monthly cost!!! I am trying to sort this out with my bank, but God knows if I'll get my money back. I'm apoplectic with rage about this. How can this happen in this day and age???

Findanymanual deserves NO or NEGATIVE STAR

if there is a choice of no star, that would describe it. I googled a manual on Feb1, 2023, and found FindAnyManauls. The GBP0.95 offer for download sounded good, and I tried. Didn't think I got anything/the right thing and I forgot about it. Until a few days ago, I saw that they have charged me bi-monthly for GBP36.95 bi-monthly since for the same manual I haven't downloaded (GBP 221.7! I have not received any emails about payment during this whole period. So I wrote a complaint a few days ago and a reply came just now, which says, "the price information relating to this subscription policy has been available to you on several occasions in the Terms and Conditions (validated during the payment) " I am sorry, I don't think that has happened, and it is certainly a very dishonourable way of doing a business. and this is a complaint case straight to the Trading Standards for me.

Email on website gets bounced
Phone number does not work
Can not log onto account as they say my email is not registered but they emailed me using it ( the only email I have)
Got email reply in German
Who in their right mind needs a £99.95 per month subscription for the occasional PDF manual ??????
