I cannot stress this enough: DO NOT EVER give Finder.com.au your details. I was simply browsing their website, not signing up, not handing over my consent for marketing, and suddenly my phone starts ringing at 8pm with a sales call.
This is beyond shady – it’s a direct violation of privacy, consumer trust, and likely multiple laws around unsolicited communications and misuse of personal data. How did they even get my number? There is NO legitimate way this could have happened without Finder harvesting my information behind the scenes and selling it or passing it around without my knowledge.
This is exactly the kind of predatory data abuse that regulators warn about. Finder.com.au is clearly operating without regard for basic privacy rights. Imagine a company that snoops on your browsing activity, digs out your phone number, and then has the audacity to cold-call you in your own home at night. That is harassment, plain and simple.

We understand your frustration with receiving an unsolicited sales call, especially one that came at an inconvenient time. However, we want to be very clear: Finder does not have a call centre, nor do we engage in any outbound sales calls.
The scenario you've described – of a company scraping your information from a website and then immediately calling you – is not how our business operates.
The call you received could be a case of "spoofing," where a scammer or a different company uses a legitimate business's name to make their calls seem more credible. This is a common and unfortunate tactic used to deceive people. We have no control over this type of activity, but we are genuinely concerned that our business name is being used in this way.
We encourage you to report this unsolicited call to the relevant Australian authorities. You can lodge a complaint with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), which is responsible for the Do Not Call Register and for enforcing telemarketing and spam laws.
Reporting the incident to Scamwatch will also help the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) monitor and warn the public about new and emerging scams.
Again, we apologise for the distress this has caused you and for the misuse of our company's name.
