Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 36 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported significant difficulties with the claims process, often experiencing denials even when the other party was clearly at fault. People consistently found it nearly impossible to contact the company, with calls going unanswered and messages unreturned, leading to prolonged periods without resolution. Reviewers frequently mentioned extremely slow response times, waiting weeks or months for updates or callbacks. Poor communication was also a concern, with customers feeling ignored and struggling to get explanations. This often resulted in significant stress and potential long-term consequences, such as insurance record lapses.

How to beat First Chicago

Their email is claims@firstchicagoinsurance dot com
Management phone # 708-734-8249
They have the most Insurance complaints in Illinois. You still need to report them to the Illinois insurance commission.

But also call and write to the Federal Insurance Office of the department of Treasury. I contacted them, NAIC, Attorney General, IL governor, illinois insurance commissioner, Just reported them to the FTC for bogus and fake reviews on their website. Go to your local newspaper and get media coverage, or make a youtube video.

If you are injured I have spoken to lawyers who will take the case for free. Try 1 man shops or small boutique firms. They don't have as many clients and will be eager for the business.

I have gotten 2 checks so far, I am still going to battle them and sue until I get my 3rd check.

Their best excuse or line to get you to give up or wait months. We haven't been able to get a hold of the insured driver. It is a lie. You need to get their contact info from the police report and call or text the person.

Also if they don't affirm or deny your claim within 60 days, email them on day 62 and ask for a written statement for the delay, like I did. They than asked me for a copy of the police report. Which proves they didn't investigate within the 21 days as required.

Took way to long to process claim I had full coverage eventually my car was totaled I paid the tow yard to pick up the car and bring it to my home I contacted my gap insurance myself and did the whole process the person I was involved with all of a sudden was hurt behind the accident which was her fault this case was just settled early 2024 they paid my car off I’m done dealing with them I had them briefly when I got my new car I received nothing from them besides my car being paid off I believe the lady from my accident received nothing they’re a headache and I felt like I took care of my own claim the way I was calling around just simply stay away their communication sucks only way you hear from them is if you contact them yourself.

COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

COMPLETE SCAM DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! someone tried to steal my car on the morning of halloween and these people have did nothing but give me the run around because they don’t want to pay for it. when i started my policy there was a question asked about past accident, however the question was not clear at all. i answered no to the question. when the person that was assigned to my claim FINALLY called (after 12 days) she took a recorded statement of what happened. she asked if i had any accidents within the past 3 years. i answered yes and fully disclosed the details of the accident. the question was plain and clear this time. she then proceeds to tell me that i did not tell the representative when starting my application. if i wanted to lie about the accident why would i tell the person assigned to my claim? it was a complete and honest mistake. she told me she would investigate the accident and get back to me. she said she would keep me updated. she did not do her job at all. i spent DAYS trying to get ahold of someone. i finally was able to get the contact # of her supervisor. this was 2 weeks after the recorded statement at this point. i left her supervisor a message then she just so happens to call me within 2 hours with “new” updates on my claim?? lazy. just for her to tell me they have no progress on my claim and to accuse me of willingly leaving out details of my past accident. they are making it out to seem like i have lied and then told me it could take another whole month just for them to tell me if my policy is canceled and the potential theft damages will be covered or not. WHAT? lets be honest, they just do not want to pay. i know they are cheap and sometimes that is the more convenient option but please learn from my expensive lesson and go with someone else! you will regret going with first chicago when you actually need them. these people are complete scammers!

First Chicago Auto Insurance is horrible!!

First Chicago Auto Insurance is horrible!! The claim adjuster NEVER answers the phone. The claim adjuster almost never returns calls. When my car was towed to a tow yard, it took First Chicago almost a month to pick up the car.
As a result, the storage fees were over a thousand dollars which First Chicago passed on to me. The car was totaled which I knew almost immediately.
It was a leased vehicle. It took First Chicago over 4 months to issue a payout to the leasing company. As a result my credit score, which had been excellent, took a huge hit. It also took about 3 months to get reimbursed for my car rental expense.
So if you want cheap auto insurance, go with First Chicago.
Just make sure you NEVER have any claims!!

It has now been 17 days with no vehicle and no communication with anyone. I have called, texted, emailed and am yet to get a person other than the operator to speak to me regarding my claim. I pay almost 700.00 a month for full coverage on two vehicles and have received nothing but piss poor service and a headache to boot.

I wish I could give this company no…

I wish I could give this company no stars!! This is the most horrible place to get coverage from. I had full coverage from this company for a 2024 KIA and someone broke into my car outside my home and tried to steal it but couldn’t due to it being a new model and stripped the steering column. I filed a claim and the company has been playing games! Sent in all my documentation and they claimed my adjuster quit, so they reassigned a new one and it’s been over a month and I am yet to hear from someone regarding my claim. Scam company who treats their customers the worst!!

I HAD A WRECK WHERE I WAS REARENDED BY…

I HAD A WRECK WHERE I WAS REARENDED BY ONE OF THEIR INSURERS ON JULY 8, 2024. I FILED THE CLAIM ON JULY 9, 2024 AND WAS GIVEN A NUMBER TO SEND PICS TO OF THE DAMAGE. AN INSPECTPOR CAME OUT AND TOOK PICS ON JULY 10, 2024. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS BEFORE I GOT ANYONE ON THE PHONE AND WAS GIVEN ONE ADJUSTERS NAME AND THEN A WEEK LATER I WAS GIVEN A DIFFERENT ADJUSTER. I CALLED AND KEPT GETTING THE VOICEMAIL SAYING SHE WOULD CALL BACK IN 48 HOURS. NO CALLS. I GOT SOMEONE ON THE PHONE ON AUG 14 SAYING THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN ESTIMATE ON MY CLAIM SINCE JULY 23, 2024 AND NO ONE HAS CALLED OR RETURNED ANY EMAILS THAT I HAVE SENT. ONCE I FINALLY GOT MY ADJUSTER ON THE PHONE AUG 19, SHE STATED THAT SHE COULD NOT TELL ME THE AMOUNT OF THE ESTIMATE BECAUSE IT HAD NOT BEEN APPROVED. AND THAT SHE HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE INSURED. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO VERIFY IF THE INSURED HAD INSURANCE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW IF ONE OF YOUR INSURED WAS INSURED BY YOUR COMPANY THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT. THERE IS SO MUCH THAT I COULD SAY ABOUT THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY. THEY WONT BE AROUND MUCH LONGER. WHAT DO YOU GET OUT OF IGNORING PEOPLE AND NOT WANTING TO PAY CLAIMS? I BET THEY HAVE SEVERAL LAWSUITS.

The worst insurance company

I really wish I could have given them zero stars cause it would the service I received from them. I've been calling them from 2 weeks straight and have never gotten nothing but music. And please don't expect a call back.

Surviving First Chicago

Surviving First Chicago is all I have to say… very shady/fraudulent and we should all get together and protest this company! First Chicago is all about giving you the run around with no real solutions. We all have a common theme… waiting for recorded statements, no call backs, and etc. We should stand together!

Fraudulent Insurance Company

They are fraudulent and will not answer you. I’m not sure if they even have people working there as there is no way for you to contact them at all. They will string you along at the beginning and completely ghost you.

This company is the worst

This company is the worst, they sent me a notice dated 12/26/23 that my policy expired and to pay the amount of my policy by 2/8/24, I called today which is 1/19/24 to pay my policy the rep took my payment then when I asked for a renewal card she said, oh wait your policy canceled and expired and that I would have to pay an extra $430. FOH that’s not what your letter said. She said they will refund my money back in an hour back to my card. I am ready to start a class action lawsuit against this company for poor representation… I would not recommend this company to anyone

First Chicago Insurance Fraudulent

My parked car was hit in an accident cause by one of their insurers on 11/9/23. I filed a claim with First Chicago on 11/13/23 providing an email with pictures of the damage, a police report, and video footage of the accident.

An appraiser from SCA Appraisal Co. (another terrible company) came to look at my car on 11/16/23. The estimate information was available and sent to the company 11/17/23. I spent a month calling them every week to get a hold of the adjuster, got her information from a claim representative on 12/1/23 but wasn’t contacted by her until 12/16/23.

I have never hired an attorney and she leaves a voicemail talking about how she needs permission with my attorney to speak to me about the details of the claim and estimate information. Never hired one, I’m representing myself. They make up lies so they don’t have to pay me out for my car damages at this point.

Terrible company, terrible customer service, a scam. Who knows if this will get settled but figured I’d start leaving reviews now and spreading awareness of this shady company.

Report First Chicago Insurance as a fraudulent company to your state attorney general, let local news outlets know your story, spread awareness to expose their scam company!

company of thieves

I do not recommend this company at all, they are thieves, I had insurance with them to pay my month of $185.60, on October 12, 2023, I canceled it on October 13, 2023, I only had it for one day on the 13th, when I asked them what How much they wanted to refund me, they told me $155.60, they are stealing $30 dollars for 1 day of insurance, that is ridiculous, they should have charged me for 1 partial day only, apart from the fact that they stole the DOWN PAYMENT that I paid, they should have returned some money from the DOWN PAYMENT. Don't take anything from them other than thieves, the staff is extremely rude. When I spoke to them they told me how much I told them $30 and the person answered, oh my God, they weren't even charging him $100 dollars. But $30 for 1 day, this is abuse. Now They released the version that they are charging me another $10 additional because my payment is made late in September, I had to renew on September 11, that day my payment is made, they are thieves.

Poor business practice

Dealing with First Chicago due to being hit by their client in an auto accident involving injury. It's been 3 weeks in which i have had to take the initiative to do all the contact. Just told me that they will not do anything toward this claim until their client submits a recorded statement and he has up to two months to do that. if he doesn't respond they will then do their own investigation. until then, they told me to pay for everything out of my own pocket. The representative was rude when i asked to speak to a supervisor and then placed me on hold for 45 minutes. I'm still on hold.
