Approved claim but No inspection No Repair
Barrie received massive snow and many homes had snow ice damage Feb 18th. My home has 20 yr shingles that are 7 years old. Never had an issue. Eavestroughs cleaned and balcony railing area re caulked Oct 2024. The home is in pristine condition inside and out.
TD Claim approved to remove damaged material, repair and restore the area that leaked. Told it's my job to remove snow and ice which I paid to have done immediately. Drywall and insulation removed by First On Site after 6 days, no inspection no repair. No repair from Feb 19th to March 29th because they are 'backed up.'
Freezing rain occurs in Barrie, thousands affected, it is another extreme incident and again, it leaks exactly the same, in the identical location (see photos) but more serious damage. Because no inspection or repair completed to prevent recurrence.
This is a copy and paste of First on Site's response to my numerous pleas to complete the work and clean up the damage they caused by their delay:
"So if anything goes wrong with your house insurance is suppose to just fix it all ? It called home ownership and home maintenance, if insurance covered anything that went wrong with a house, insurance premiums would be so high".
This is the response, not an apology, not a quick response to complete their work and mitigate the damage. No, despite TD stating the estimate was for REPAIRS none were done. Requested multiple times to please do the work, finish the work, I get a blatant refusal. Exact leak, exact location, no inspection, no repair. Then this ludicrous statement. Unethical and dangerous behaviour is what I received. Your home is at risk using this company. It will be in an unstable, incomplete, vulnerable state for as long as they please. TD insurance states they are under no obligation to adhere to reasonable timelines. First on Site says it's the homeowners job to mitigate the risk incurred by no inspection no repair and no renovation on their part.
See photos of the two weather emergency incidents Feb 19th crack from Extreme snow in Barrie and relatively small leak. April 3rd after Extreme Freezing Rain bulging water in plastic in the exact same location and the home remains in this condition. The hardwood floors are not dried out, the attic never inspected but closed in with plastic and likely getting mouldy by the day. After endless begging to do their job the third photo shows the condition they left it in and the work has never been finished. This is following the approved TD claim for repair, removal & restoration as of April 9th 2025.
