Very bad airline

Very bad airline. They change schedule constantly - and the personell is not helpful at all. Our trip was orignially scheduled to the 1. january - is now changed to the 31. december - and now changed again so we have a 9 hour lay over in Lisbon.

Less than 0 stars - incompetent and failed airline

Terrible airline – they just do not care about customers. Advertised services do not exist. Full ignorance, incompetence and failed airline. Inbound flight totally fraudulent business class, which is just cheap, bad and inexistent in terms of comfort. On the return flight system breakdown in Lisbon and there’s no Plan B. The staff doesn’t care, there’s no service, elderly people really struggle not to collapse and nothing is done. This airline doesn’t have a Plan B in case things go wrong. Do not fly with this terrible company.

DO NOT FLY WITH TAP

Booked a return flight to porto from london 6 months in advance. i had a medical procedure booked in the meantime so booked a flight to porto a few days earlier and missed the tap flight. was preparing to get on the return flight when i found out that tap had automatically cancelled the flight with no warning or information.
called the help centre, the woman said that this is the procedure and even if i had done the check in and not turned up for the flight, they would have cancelled it anyway.
asked for a refund and she couldnt do it, it has to be done online
asked to issue a complaint, she couldnt do it because it also has to be done online
there is nothing they can do by phone.
I have no flight, no way to return to london and was supposed to work tomorrow. Well done tap, you are proving to the world that you remain an unreliable company that puts money first and customers last. never boooking a flight again with tap

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE, HOLIDAY RUINED

We booked a return flight with TAP Air and we were due to fly to Lisbon on 1st September 2024. Due to the 48 hr baggage staff strike at Lisbon Airport over that weekend we decided to postpone our journey and booked another flight with a different company for a day after the strike. As a result of us not turning up for the flight to Lisbon, the following day we discovered that TAP Air had cancelled our return flight without my authorisation. We thought this was an error, so when I rang to check and they said it was correct and would only reinstate it for £4,000 !! We had paid for a return flight and they were not authorised to cancel our flight which we paid for. Looking at all the other reviews for this company they do definitely deserve the very low rating. I've had to give 1 star here because there isn't an option to give no stars.

DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE

I have recently had to cancel this flight (and three others) due to my mother being diagnosed with cancer (she was meant to be on the trip with us). Due to the absolutely terrible user experience on the website I have been unable to submit any of the reasons for cancellations and explain the situation - resulting in receiving next to no refund.

Today I called the customer support phone number to speak to an operator and explain the situation and request a refund on compassionate grounds and to understand the policy in place for this. At this time I spoke to Luis who when I asked what can be done on compassionate grounds given the situation, responded with "but did they die". This was a shocking, disgusting and completely unacceptable response from a customer support operator.

I requested to be transferred to a manager and was distraught by this response, while already dealing with a horrific family situation. At this point Luis said he would transfer the call and instead terminated the call.

The worst customer service I have ever received, incredibly shocking and added so much stress to an already terrible time.

Unprofessional staff

Porto airport, flight to Newark

At the check in counter there were huge sign Drop off point on lane 20, we stayed 40 minutes there, and when we approached representative she told us that our lane is not this, but the one saying Newark, it doesn’t say what Newark, so by default it should be for people who need not only drop off baggage but also check in, so we chosen drop off because we just need drop off, disregarding logic they told us to go to the end of the Newark lane 21, what means 40 more minutes just because their mistake, rude, unprofessional and never again

Don't book if you want to bring a pet.

I booked tickets for my family for a two week holiday in Porto. I specifically chose TAP because they state on their website that pets can be brought in the cabin. I called to book tickets for our two chihuahua dogs that are very small and cannot be held in the cargo hold. Again, there was no indication that the flight I booked was any different from other flights. The help desk agent told me that apparently the flight both ways was already booked full for dogs. When he inquired further it turned out that flights from Lux to Porto do not allow dogs in the cabin at all. Instead of saying TAP is pet friendly, state that you should call for availability first, before booking. I now had to cancel the whole holiday, which is a big disappointment for my family. They were looking
forward to the first flight since Covid. Instead, I had to cancel the hotel and rental car which could have cost me a large amount.

Avoid TAP at all costs! The discount is not worth it, your vacation or business plans will be spoiled.

I've been flying TAP for many years. The service is mediocre, but since they are usually cheaper, I've accepted the inconveniences: bad staff attitude, lost luggage, poor customer service, etc. This has been a very bad decision, and I should have paid attention to the thousands of negative reviews. This airline has serious management issues, and my day of having my own TAP nightmare finally arrived. My flight was canceled while I was at the gate, waiting to board. They didn’t notify anyone, just removed the flight completely from the board, leaving everyone confused. When someone finally appeared to give information, they just told everyone to recollect their checked-in luggage and wait.

It's clear they are saving every penny and don’t have enough staff, who were completely lost and acted as if they had no idea what to do (and they didn’t). In Paris Orly, they had three people to manage hordes of people from the canceled flight and those waiting to check in. After several hours of waiting, they offered some very bad connections and, when they realized that everything was overbooked, decided to send us to a hotel. They struggled to book the hotel and had very confusing information on transport, leaving us to carry our luggage on foot. I was with an elderly person, and it was not easy.

When we boarded the next day, the entertainment screen on my seat was not working properly. The flight was filled with very discontented people sharing their horror stories about this airline. It took me four days to reach my final destination. Note: this was all in business class, so don’t expect any premium service. Flight attendants are rude and seem very irritated all the time, and the food is very poor and limited, served in a single tray like in economy. They have a tendency to call business passengers to board first but leave them in line for up to an hour at the door of the plane without the AC.

Economy requires even more resilience. When we left the airport after the canceled flight, the line for passengers flying economy was even worse. The atrocious situation of this airline is compounded by the fact that Lisbon airport is way beyond its capacity, so expect delays and failed attempts to land. This has happened to me several times—even the pilot admitted this situation during a go-around. Everyone is fed up with this airline and this airport.

Cherry on the cake: without warning, my return trip was canceled, and they told me they would not refund me. Follow the advice of thousands of people who had their vacations and business plans spoiled by this airline and please avoid TAP.

Good Experience, Surprised by The Bad Reviews

Reading these reviews had me convinced my flights would be delayed, cancelled, or I’d pay hundreds in baggage fees. Safe to say none of these happened. I flew internationally with TAP AIR. All 4 flights were on-time with friendly, attentive flight attendants. They didn't measure my bag sizes or weigh them. As long as you’re aware of the baggage policy and plan according, your trip should go fine.

I know TAP AIR isn’t immune to flight delays/cancellations but what airline is? These ~200 reviews are unrealistic and too pessimistic, and don’t accurately reflect the airline. The Portugal lounge was full on both my arrival and departure trips. This demonstrates many people rely on TAP AIR. Much more so than 200 people who had a bad experience.

Giving 4 stars due to their buggy website. I checked in at the airport as it wouldn’t save my passport information.

They destroy the luggage

Every suitcase from our flight was scratched, scuffed, or punctured in very serious way. I wrote a complaint, they replied that it is just "attrition from circulating on baggage belts". This is a scandal. Before choosing TAP I used to fly many airlines, even bad rated low costs like Ryanair and Wizzair. They treated my suitcase normally and it was never damaged in any way.

Don't flight with TAP.

The 4th world country airline

Be aware of this scam airline they are the worst of the worst if you call their Call center is like talking to animals if you talk to a supervisor called Tiago Santos, be carefull he will make up laws and rules so that he can be right. Hes like the king of the jungle. Me as portuguese citizen Im ashamed of Tap Portugal, I apologize to the world of this scam airline a 4th world country airline. Please go bankrupcy and start from the scratch.

To avoid specially with kids

They advertise themselves as a child-friendly company in the website of company “stokke” who sells this bedbox jet kids luggage that you can convert into a seat extended. However, I am in a flight right now with this company and my 2 year old has not been allowed to use it … Do not advertise yourselves for something you are not. A cheap, poor service airline one should avoid at all costs. Rude staff, poor service, bad food. Terrible.

Horrendous Service

The desk on our flight was dirty with leftover food from the previous flight and the infotainment system stopped working. A long-distance fight without having the opportunity to charge the phone and no legroom whatsoever.

Unable to receive full reimbursement for flight disruption

In October 2023 despite being told that a bank transfer had been initiated I only received part of the reimbursement promised for the disruption to my flight from Lisbon in March 2023. I am still owed £137 and have tried phone, emails and an online form without an acknowledgement or a response. It is terrible customer service and has put me off flying with this Airline again.

Last minute cancellation. I filed several complaints it's just ridiculous how do they replied to them. First it's adverse weather then it's external strike in order to not to pay me.
They do not respect passenger right at all as I read through other reviews. It's real worse airline I have ever known.

Just the regular lowcost airline

Just the regular lowcost airline. Cheap flights, the seats are same as in ryanair or wizzair airplanes, just you actually can have a normal cabin luggage together with bag included in price(in wizzair you have to pay extra for that)

I booked two return tickets from…

I booked two return tickets from Toulouse to Funchal with TAP Air for my wife and me. When the tickets were issues they both had my name on. I contacted TAP Air customer services and was told I would have to cancel one of the tickets and re-book. I will lose the cost of the ticket. This issue was caused by TAP Air's defective booking system, not by an error on my part. This is appalling customer service. My advice to anyone considering booking with TAP Air is to avoid this company. They have no idea how to treat their customers. I am absolutely disgusted.
