Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 280 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about unexpected baggage fees, hidden charges at the airport, and rude customer service agents who completely lacked empathy. Travelers also noted severe flight delays, unhelpful support when trying to resolve booking issues, and major difficulties getting prompt and timely assistance from the company representatives. Some reviewers were happy with cheap flight options, noting that certain journeys featured smooth boarding processes and genuinely kind staff members. Passengers deeply appreciated these rare moments of positive service and straightforward procedures when navigating their travels successfully on a budget airline.

Low air fares get you but be aware afterwards

Unfortunately we were nabbed by Flair airlines for ridiculous baggage fees. Believe that this is simply a money gab by them once they have you as a customer to make up for their low airfare offers. Their measuring device for bags is by far smaller than other airlines - the bags we had fit easily under the seats once we were on board. BUYER BEWARE !! I should have heeded the warnings on other reviews myself. Save yourself disappointment here and use another carrier.
Update- they sent us an email when we got home to try to make things right and when we responded and called they did absolutely nothing. Can't understand why they even reached out !!

Less than 1

Less than 1! Zero or negative would be best.
I booked and purchased the ‘Flex’ option which supposedly allows you to make a change without a fee. Somehow doing that still cost over $200 even though the price of the fare was the same as the original! Also tried cancelling the ticket altogether thinking I would get a credit (like ALL other airlines when you purchase the higher level AND flex option). Oh no, they charge you a cancellation fee plus deduct all of the airport taxes, seat price, etc even though you will get a voucher and fly with them again and pay those fees again! So my $509 ticket becomes a $104 voucher even though I purchased the higher flex option.

A “Full Refund” That Wasn’t a Refund — Stay Away from Flair Airlines

I had an unusually frustrating and disappointing experience with Flair Airlines. In today’s competitive market, where companies are constantly trying to provide better customer service, I find it astonishing that an airline can operate with policies and systems this unfriendly to its customers.

I purchased a ticket, but due to a change in circumstances, I called Flair within two hours to cancel it. Flair’s website stated that cancellations made within the first 24 hours were eligible for a full refund. After a long conversation, however, the representative informed me that my money would not actually be returned to my original payment method. Instead, I would receive a credit toward a future booking. This is not what most customers understand as a “full refund,” and it appeared to contradict the information I had carefully read on Flair’s website.

I reluctantly accepted the credit because the representative told me I had no other option.

When I later tried to use that credit, the situation became even more absurd. The system would not allow me to apply it toward an entire round-trip booking. I could only book and pay for each flight separately. As a result, the exact same journey cost approximately $100 more simply because Flair’s system would not allow me to use the money I had already paid them toward one complete round trip.

I called customer service again. Despite my explaining the problem clearly and repeatedly, the representative did not seem to understand why I was calling and could not offer a solution. Eventually, I ran out of patience. I did not want to argue, so I thanked her and ended the call.

I am writing this review to warn other travellers: if Flair’s prices appear lower than those of other airlines, do not assume that you will actually save money. Any small initial saving can quickly disappear through restrictive policies, confusing booking limitations, wasted time, repeated phone calls, and unnecessary stress.

A refund should mean a refund—not a restrictive credit that forces the customer to spend even more money. Based on my experience, Flair’s current policies and level of customer service are completely unacceptable. I strongly recommend staying away from this airline.

Scam Airline, Predatory Tactics

24 hours before my flight, i attempted to buy a check in bag (for 103 CAD, for a 2 hour flight mind you)
I tried 3 different credit/debit cards that are 100 percent working elsewhere, and they gave the same error message

so i called customer support and they said there was nothing they could do except for me go to the airport where i'd be subject to "dynamic pricing", which basically means i'm going to pay 150 cad for a bag. when i asked to speak to a supervisor they said it wasn't possible.

insane predatory scam tactics. i've flown on airlines literally across the world, this might be the worst one i've encountered and that's saying something

Abandoned again

Abandoned again. Previously delayed the flight for 10 hours then cancelled. Left stranded for 4 days. Because they decided to change their aircraft. It never showed up.

No food no water no accommodation no alternative arrangements nothing. Applied for compensation. NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING. THE CEO SHOULD BE THROWN IN JAIL or made Donald trumps press secretary.

I was sitting in the emergency row and…

I was sitting in the emergency row and asked the flight attendant where I should put my bag and she responded with “ I don’t care where you put your bag”. Then I asked for an extension belt she said “ you can’t sit in the emergency exit row if you need an extension belt” super loud. Then she told me to move! I don’t appreciate her tone or attitude!

The worst experience I’ve ever had with…

The worst experience I’ve ever had with an airline.

Flair Airlines was definitely the worst airline I’ve ever flown with. The boarding experience was terrible.

Even though I had already paid for my baggage, I was forced to place my suitcase into an extremely small metal measuring sizer. My suitcase got completely stuck, and while trying to remove it, I almost seriously injured one of my fingers.

The most frustrating part is that even after you have already paid for your baggage, if the suitcase does not fit inside the sizer, they try to charge you additional money.

But the worst part of the entire experience was the customer service: terrible, unfriendly, and completely unwilling to help. Instead of making the process easier or treating passengers with consideration, they make an already uncomfortable situation even more unpleasant.

I have traveled with different airlines, and I have never had an experience like this. After what happened today, I would avoid flying with Flair Airlines again.

The most shameful airline in the world.

The most shameful airline in the world.

A five-hour flight, and passengers are not even provided with drinking water unless they pay for it.

Five hours in the air and not even a basic cup of water? If you are thirsty or feeling unwell, you still have to buy it. I have never experienced anything like this with an airline before.

I understand that Flair is a low-cost airline, but charging passengers for basic drinking water on a five-hour flight is completely unacceptable.

Imagine feeling seriously unwell during a flight and needing water, only to be told that you have to purchase it.

Flair Airlines — the most shameful airline I have ever experienced.

Worst service what I ever had,First the plane was late, then they made me pay for a small bag on my belt like a wallet because it's a separate item, then they didn't let me sit with my wife on the plane because the ticket said mine was one seat away from my wife and they said I had to pay for it.
half of the staff is rude and unfriendly

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Flair Airlines.

I was flying from Halifax to Toronto. When online check-in was no longer available, I had no choice but to check in at the airport. Flair then charged me CAD $34 for airport check-in.

What is particularly frustrating is that after this experience, I could not find an accessible customer service email or chat to submit a straightforward complaint.

My issue is not simply that Flair charges for optional extras. My concern is being charged for airport check-in when the online option is no longer available, combined with how difficult it is to contact the airline afterward.

I have now submitted complaints regarding this experience to Expedia, the Canadian Transportation Agency Compliance team, and the Competition Bureau of Canada.

Passengers should be aware of these additional charges and the difficulty of reaching customer service before deciding to book.

Worst airline I've flown on

Worst airline I've flown on. booked a mid-morning flight from Abbotsford to Calgary. At 5am day of flight, they notify me that the flight has been canceled and they've rebooked me on a late evening flight. It exceeded their 9 hour window so I called CS and asked them to rebook me on a Westjet flight that was scheduled to leave 5 minutes earlier than the Flair flight. They rebooked me. I kept getting messages from them while I was pre-boarding the WJ flight that said the evening flight was also canceled and they booked me for the next day, mid-afternoon. By the time I landed in Calgary, another message said that the afternoon flight for the next day also was canceled. On my evening return flight, it has been delayed more than two hours already. I'm guessing they will cancel the flight entirely. It's unacceptable.

The Biggest Scam I’ve Experienced in Air Travel

Very disappointing experience:

• Flight delayed at departure and arrived late.
• After landing, we waited another 40 minutes just to open the aircraft door because they said there was no ramp crew.
• Charged $117 for only one 23 kg checked bag.
• We booked only for two person, but our seats were separated. We were then asked to pay extra to sit together. It's not only with us! Other passengers were having the same issue.
• This airlines charge $34 for in person check in at the airport.

At every step, it honestly feels like a scam. Never again.

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Flair Airlines. Our flight was scheduled for 3 PM but was delayed until 10 PM — a full 7 hours. We basically lost an entire day because of this delay and had to completely change our plans.

I understand that delays happen, but 7 hours is not a minor inconvenience. After this experience, I simply can’t trust Flair’s schedule. I’d rather pay more for another airline next time.

Three-Hour Delay and Not Even Complimentary Water

Low Fares Come at a Very High Cost

Very disappointing experience with Flair Airlines. I understand that Flair is a low-cost airline, but there is a difference between being a budget airline and making passengers feel like absolutely everything is an opportunity for another charge.

Our Cancun-to-Toronto flight was delayed by approximately 3 hours, and during that entire delay Flair did not even offer passengers complimentary water. No water, no refreshments and no meal vouchers. We were travelling as a family and had to make our own arrangements while waiting.

The experience on board wasn't much better. The seats were extremely cramped, uncomfortable and did not recline, with very little space between rows. There were no entertainment screens/devices, and practically everything beyond simply occupying your seat costs extra.

Another policy I find particularly frustrating is seating. If a family doesn't pay extra to select seats in advance, family members are assigned different seats. It feels like another way of pressuring passengers into paying additional fees simply to have their family seated together.

Some of the flight attendants we encountered were also quite rude and unfriendly, which made an already frustrating experience worse. When a flight has been delayed for hours, a little understanding and good customer service can make a huge difference.

I knew Flair was a budget airline and expected fewer extras. What I didn't expect was such an extreme bare-bones experience: pay for seat selection, pay for food, pay for drinks, very little legroom, uncomfortable non-reclining seats, and not even complimentary water offered during a roughly three-hour delay.

I understand that the original disruption that day involved weather, and weather is obviously outside an airline's control. However, passengers still judge an airline by how they are treated when something goes wrong. In our case, the delay had cascaded through several earlier flights before eventually affecting our Cancun departure, yet the level of passenger care we experienced was extremely poor.

By the time all the additional charges and compromises are considered, the lower ticket price simply isn't worth it for me.

Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not choose Flair Airlines again.

No comfort, not cheap!

Flair airlines is the worst airline I ever used.
The ticket was not cheap, they charge for seats, carry-on($200!!!) and even the water on board and if you want a printed boarding pass, they charge you too. No drinks and food during a 4 hour flight, there are no pillows, or blankets, only 3 washrooms for 180 passengers and on my flight back from Calgary on August 5th to Toronto, one washroom was out of order, and one had no water to wash hands.
Not to mention the seats, which do not recline, are super tight, have no legroom and of course no entertainment device.
In addition, the flights are late, sit on the tarmac for a long time, and are assigned gates from which you have to walk a kilometer to reach the main airport building.
After paying for all the extras, I would have been better off using Air Canada and pay $50-100 more. In the end the flight was almost as expensive as using a better airline, with no comfort at all.
My verdict: stay away if you need to fly for more than an hour !

I recently flew from Toronto to Vancouver on your 9:40 am flight. I had a small carryon that I have used on many other airlines in the past at no charge. You charged my a usary $120
I had no choice. I will not fly flair again. I have advised my four family members to not fly flair and will tell my friends to not select flair.
