A NIGHTMARE of INCOMPETENCE
I needed to move some items from Berlin Germany To Sweden. I booked this company because I had a nice chat with the first contact person (Hugo) I spoke with.
I was told the move would occur on a Monday, most likely Jan 23 and that I would pay 50 % upfront and 50 % upon delivery. I asked if it might be possible to have an earlier transportation date and Hugo said he would check.
No one got back to me. I called to follow up and was told that Hugo had since left the company. I spoke with about 5 different people (A Sam, a Daniel, a Mike, and some others whose names I did not write down) No one seemed quite aware of what was going on over the next week. I started getting very nervous since I had a contractual obligation to move these items and had to coordinate with an agent on site in Berlin to open for the movers. I was reassured that indeed the move would happen and that they would contact the Agent on site.
I sent a moving list, photos, some emails and the contact info. NO ONE BOTHERED TO CONFIRM/ANSWER.
I received an invoice which was priced incorrectly and had to contact them to correct it. The moving list was also wrong so I reminded them of the email I had sent.
Friday night, I received a call from a new person Jessica saying that they would deliver that Monday the 16th after the weekend. I contacted the agent in Berlin to ask them to open for the movers. I paid the 50 % half as agreed before delivery.
MONDAY NO ONE CAME. No one came/ and no one called with an update on Monday. I called Flyttgubbarna and was bounced around and told someone would call me back.
Someone named Anton called back and said he was the region manager. I was told it had been a mistake. He had not given clear instructions to Jessica who had mistaken me for a client in Spain. Anton said he would return with confirmation and that the move would most likely occur that Thursday/Friday.
Come Thursday I had not heard from anyone.
I called and now Anton changed his story. He said he had never said that. He said they would probably come on Sunday. I said the agents do not work on Sunday.
He said that this was not his problem since they had never been informed that an agent would be on site to open. You really should not gaslight your clients. It had been verbally confirmed with a few people I had spoken with and in an email dated 3 weeks earlier.
Anton sounded stoned and totally tone deaf. By now, my impression was that he had no grasp of business management, logistics, or customer relations, and is sorely under-educated for any leadership position. I am not even sure that this company is legit because his style reminded me more of a street hustler than a competent logistics professional.
I lost my temper and said I wanted my money back. This was not possible, so now I had to use these guys.
A few days later, I got a call from someone named Maria in Spain. I was told the delivery would arrive the following day! Knowing what chaos reigns at this place by now, I asked this Maria to double check with the Stockholm office.
She did, and of course she had been given the wrong information. No one was arriving with my things the next day.
HOWEVER, this Maria was the first professional I spoke with during the month. She promised to maintain contact with me and make sure that the transportation occurred.
If the owners of Flyttgubbarna have any sense, they will put her in charge instead of Anton. She was educated, diligent, excellent with customer service and could put two and two together.
Thanks to her, the shipment happened. Had it been up to Anton at the Stockholm Office, it would probably have been relegated to the next month and I would have lost my items in Berlin and failed to meet my contractual obligation there to empty the items in time.
He seems utterly incapable of organizing anything and understand any interlinkages between actions and consequences.
On the day that the truck was arriving, there was an impressive spike in efficiency from the Stockholm office. Suddenly, everyone was calling to tell me to pay the remainder 50% BEFORE the items had even been delivered! The moving guys said Anton refused to let them carry anything up into my apartment until I had paid IN ADVANCE.
I was furious and told Anton you do not hold the clients furniture hostage like this and that business custom is to carry up the items, go through the moving list and confirm that everything is fine and then pay. He said that this was irreverent because it was not a lot of money and that if something was wrong, I could just file an insurance claim.
He rambled on incoherently seeming high and out of touch with reality. I let him rant on while I went through everything in the truck and the moving guys carried everything upstairs. Then I paid. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. Every moment was a nightmare. I would not wish this on anyone.
