I renewed a domain with GoDaddy but decided to transfer it to Cloudflare right after. Because the transfer fell within the 45-day ICANN Auto-Renew Grace Period, the central internet registry automatically voided GoDaddy's renewal year and credited them back on the backend. This forced me to double-pay Cloudflare for that exact same year of service.
When I contacted GoDaddy support via live chat and phone to request a standard manual billing refund for this canceled transaction, I was completely gaslit and lied to. First, agents claimed the year carried over (which public ICANN WHOIS data explicitly disproved). Next, they shockingly claimed I hadn't even paid them yet, or that I needed to buy another transfer service and pay them all over again just to sort out their own mistake.
When I demanded a billing-only refund for the invoice, they stubbornly insisted they could only issue a refund by executing a full "product cancellation/deletion" on their end. I explicitly told them I did not want my domain deleted, but they refused to process a standalone billing credit. Because the domain is already actively registered at Cloudflare, forcing an automated cancellation command through GoDaddy's backend would have permanently deleted my live domain off the internet.What they are doing is completely illegal. Holding onto my cash for a transaction that the registry officially voided constitutes Unjust Enrichment under standard consumer law—they are taking money for a service they know they aren't providing. Furthermore, using deceptive "dark patterns" to scare a customer into risking their live digital assets just to receive a lawful refund violates basic consumer protection standards.
Their front-line staff is utterly untrained on ICANN policy, completely incompetent, and their billing tools are actively dangerous. I had to resort to a bank chargeback to get my money back from a service they never even delivered. To top it off, the woman I spoke to on the phone was lying, gaslighting, and mocking me. Her stalling tactics are appalling. What an awful human.
Avoid this company at all costs.
Extremely disappointed by GoDaddy’s handling of an unexplained domain suspension
I have been a loyal GoDaddy customer for more than four years and currently have five companies registered and hosted through their services.
GoDaddy suspended one of my business domains without first giving me a clear explanation of the alleged issue, the specific policy involved, or the corrective action required to restore the service. The suspension also affected our business email, leaving existing customers unable to contact us and causing significant disruption, reputational harm and financial loss.
I contacted Nominet directly, and they confirmed that the suspension was not imposed by them and advised me to resolve it with GoDaddy.
Despite repeatedly contacting GoDaddy and asking for the matter to be escalated, I have still not received a substantive response. I have made it clear that I am willing to cooperate fully and immediately correct any genuine concern, but it is impossible to rectify an issue when GoDaddy will not explain what the alleged problem is.
For a long-standing customer with multiple businesses and services through GoDaddy, the lack of urgency and communication has been extremely disappointing. Suspending a business website and email without promptly explaining the reason or providing a clear route to reinstatement is unacceptable.
I am still waiting for:
• The precise reason for the suspension
• The policy clause allegedly breached
• Details of the complaint
• The corrective action required
• A realistic review timeframe
• Confirmation of whether email or DNS can be temporarily restored
I will update this review if GoDaddy provides a fair explanation and resolves the matter promptly.

I had a self-made website that was workable, but not professional and I let it expire. My Go-Daddy rep not only helped me renew my domain name, but assisted in using AI to re-create the old website into something more modern, coherent and workable. He really made my experience simple and was tremendously easy to work with.

The GoDaddy portal suggested I call their technical support number. I anticipated speaking to bots and having to repeat myself.. instead, the call was answered promptly, Jessica immediately understood the reason for my call and resolved the issue right there & then! Amazing in today's day and age of bots.

I recently discovered that my hosting package had automatically renewed for €599.88. What made this particularly frustrating is that the same hosting package was being advertised on GoDaddy's website at a significantly lower price.
When I contacted support, I was told that a discount could have been applied if I had contacted them before the renewal date. However, because the renewal had already been processed, I was told that no discount, refund, goodwill adjustment or exception could be applied under any circumstances.
As a customer of approximately 15 years, I found this extremely disappointing. It effectively means that loyal customers on auto-renewal can end up paying substantially more than customers who know to contact support beforehand and negotiate a discount.
I escalated the matter to a supervisor and spent considerable time discussing the issue, but the outcome remained the same. The response was simply that once the renewal is processed, nothing can be done.
I also requested copies of the documentation and notifications relating to the renewal. While support stated that an email had been sent, they were unable to provide me with a copy of the communication itself during the conversation.
This is not the first difficulty I have experienced with GoDaddy. Over the years I have found that tasks which should be straightforward, such as managing or transferring domains, often become unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming. What should take minutes can easily turn into hours of support chats, account reviews and navigating multiple systems.
Ironically, during this dispute I placed another order with GoDaddy, which makes the lack of flexibility even more disappointing.
After 15 years as a customer, this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the company. My advice to other customers is to check your renewal prices very carefully, disable auto-renewal where appropriate, and review all upcoming renewals well in advance.

SUPER SCAM!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! I ordered a man costume on their website and when the costume arrived, it was nothing like in the presentation on their website- They claim a natural linen fabric and the costume came as a 100% polyester, super bad quality and teribile look of the outfit. When I requested to refund, they said - yeah sure, if you pay a courier to return it to China - because that is the address of this company, and the price of the transportantion by courier is as much as the costume cost. MEGA FRAUD!

**1 Star Review – 25 Days and Still No Solution**
For the past 25 days, GoDaddy has prevented me from editing my DNS records. The dashboard only shows:
*"We're updating your nameservers. Reload the page to check for updates."*
Multiple support agents have asked the same questions, told me to wait, and claimed they opened tickets, but I never received any ticket number, email confirmation, or follow-up. One agent even promised to make the DNS changes on their side, but nothing happened.
After 25 days, the issue is still unresolved. Zero support, zero transparency, and zero accountability. This is unacceptable for a paying customer.
