Way too expensive
Way too expensive, attempt to find a better value plan with them, weren't interested. Went with another provider now saving at least $70 dollars a month.

First company ever to have a ‘call back’ system where they call you back and then make you wait 10-15 minutes to answer. What a joke.
Switched to Frank energy as their rates…
Switched to Frank energy as their rates looked better than my previous provider. Got an email to say they would be in touch. They weren't. Finally got an email to say the switch had occurred and they would be in touch to confirm rates etc. No further contact...So, I phoned their 'customer services' number. Took the option of having a call back in 20 minutes, but when they called back it went directly to hold an I had to listen to music for another 25 minutes before someone actually spoke to me. They were both helpful and pleasant - but overall it is a pretty poor first impression.

10 years a customer
I have been with Frank / Energy Online for about 10 years. I have never had a problem with them. I regularly check for cheaper prices elsewhere and have not found any (in my area).
I see a lot of bad reviews here, which is inconsistent with what is said at Consumer.org. Many seem to be about communication.
I have used the online chat a couple of times and had replies within a day.
I have moved house and had no problems.
My only issue with them is they deliberately obscure the name of the plan you are on. No idea why.

Worst power company to deal with. Been charging us gas when we don’t use it. When I told them, they said I have to find someone to disconnect it at our own cost.

This company is unbelievable they turned power on after applying then same day switch us off had no power over the weekend . They paint a big picture of what they all about. After diconnecting power sent invoice for $150

So hard to close your account, you cant call them and you cant close an account online just move house its like a trap

Terrible service. Notified recently that they were no longer providing bottled gas (no other alternatives) and now faced with a significant increase in prices for power. Poor customer service, no replies to correspondence and generally a terrible power provider who I hope goes belly up soon as everyone switches to better power co's.

Had no problems during my time with frank energy until we moved house. I went onto the app to change addresses. Then 3 weeks later once we had moved I rung frank energy to confirm the change of address. The person I spoke with could not help me in confirming this and suggested I wait while they transfer our account over to the new property. Although he confirmed he couldnt see that a transfer of properties was taking place! A month goes by, I continually tried ringing and using their online chat service. No one ever picked up the phone and i got no where online. I came home yesterday and our power had been disconnected. I am on a sleep apnea machine and have 2 young children. To say this was inconvenient would be down playing it. Iv now signed up with good power who used to own our power. If you are in the waikato region I suggest going with them. There is no one more affordable then these guys and they connected us the same day.

They connected my power on the wrong month
They connected my power on the wrong date and in the wrong month! Trying to sort it out has be horrible. Unable to connect with a real person it is done through email and 'chat' which is very inefficient. The problem has to be repeated over and over because there is always a different person. There is no follow up or clarification of whether there will eventually be power on the date you wanted. All very inefficient and frustrating. Will the be power or not? Who knows.

Reason
1. They do not give you email back when you ask something
2. They try not to refund when you return gas bottles.
3. They make up the weight of gas bottles when you return them
Story
I canceled them because Frank Energy increased 45kg gas price from $140 to $164 all of sudden. I sent an email asking for refund but no reply for nearly a month. Finally reached them with web chat, however they said they refused refund because two bottles were not full even when newly delivered 10 days ago. Fortunately a new gas provider gave me the proof of weight at the time when they picked them up. Those bottles were 45kg and 40kg. I talked to Utilities Disputes (UDL) reported with the evidence. They would not have accepted my compliant unless UDL early resolution team had moved in.
