If only zero stars were available to rate this company

The only reason this has one star is because there is no option for zero stars!!
Worst company I've ever dealt with, paid in full for my treatment in November 2019 and was promised no end of times across a period of around 6 months that my retainers would be delivered despite the bankruptcy. I was even told one time they were on their way in the post which was a complete lie.
Months after this disaster, I was emailed to say because I paid on my debit card rather than a credit card.. I was not covered or entitled to my money back.
Disgusting excuse for a company, they should be ashamed of themselves!

Terrible scammers

Terrible scammers. I paid in full but my aligner didn't fit properly. They assured me they'd find a solution but then the communications petered out and eventually stopped completely. A week later I got the email that they'd filed for insolvency. I thought I'd be able to get my money back from American Express but I missed the 120 day window (because I was trying to sort it out directly with Franksmile first) and they've refused my section 75 claim because apparently I paid via Stripe, so they won't get involved. I'm so annoyed! Did anyone manage to get their money back?

I've just found the Facebook group and have asked to join. It's "Frank smile group". I found it by clicking on "discover groups" and then searching for it there - make sure you select "all" in the filters.

Totally abandoned.

I completed my treatment and I'm fairly happy with the results. My fortnightly email check ins were never answered so I'm completely in the dark as to whether the treatment has gone well from an orthodontist.

Also, I need to get new retainers, as after the advised 6 week period of 22 hour wearing them after the treatment ended they are now knackered. How am I supposed to carry on wearing the retainers if they ore no longer fit for purpose?

So after 12 months and over £1500 my teeth will eventually go crooked again. Excellent!!!

In response to below don't think email addresses can be shared but started a private FB group called 'Frank smile group'.

Hope this helps you find the group! Annoying that you can't find it 'a'. I have had one person join so far so it's not hidden? Just checked settings and it's visible.

Just checking are you putting a space between Frank and smile?.

Tabeo insist that I need to finish my loan payment and they will not be refund

Hi everyone,
I still have 4 pending payment to tabeo and I have cancelled it. And I tried to claim the money from them. My treatment was started in Oct 2019. Now I receive an email from Tabeo:

Thanks for writing in to Tabeo and we're sorry to hear that you're not happy with your treatment.

You may not be aware but Franksmile filed for voluntary insolvency in December 2019 and Tabeo pushed them to ensure that they fulfilled their existing orders. Your contract with Franksmile is to provide bespoke medical equipment which you have received. As the terms specifically say, results are not guaranteed. Provision of aftercare service was a customer support they were offering while they were still an active business.

When you signed your loan agreement, we transferred the full price to Franksmile. As they have been liquidated, they will not be in a position to consider any refunds and Tabeo will also not be refunding you.

As stated on the top of the first page of the loan agreement which you signed, your loan is not regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974. As the loan is not regulated by that act, Tabeo has no liability for provision of the goods and services. Your loan repayments are due whether you are happy with the quality of goods supplied or not

Your loan is currently 1 payment late and you have a payment coming up on the 16th. You can log in and catch up on that payment by going to app.tabeo.co.uk

Missed payments can affect your credit score and your ability to obtain credit in future. If you do not catch up with the missed payment, we will also follow our standard collections procedure as with any other late loan.

All the best

Tabeo

Have anyone got the same situation? And what is your action when they tell you that you still need to pay ?

Bankruptcy has really messed with…

Bankruptcy has really messed with understanding whether or not my invisaligns are functioning / need replacing. I paid good money for this service and yet, the email doesn't work? I hope to get some reimbursement once the insolvency plays out, but i feel like I'll get nothing from it...

Would give ZERO if possible

Would give ZERO if possible. Maybe they were legit to begin with, but my first batch of 10 aligners were way too tight, even after doing the moulds for them, and going for a free 3D scan at their London store. I dont know how well their dentists made the moulds, or what the technical problem was here. Then, after maybe one or two months' payment, they seriously went bankrupt. These things were obviously probably not planned, bankruptcy, but they did not inform me about it until I contacted them with a query and got an odd feeling. I decided to check out reviews again (had done so before signing up with them to check they were legit and had no problems then). Reviews online had similar problems about bankruptcy and scamming money from people afterwards still, so got money stopped from going to their account from my side (bank direct debit) asap. Months on, having problems with Tabeo asking for money back. I shouldve contacted Tabeo looking back, please make sure you tie up all loose ends when in similar situations. Credit score being affected as a result, not sure if it can be reversed, but never again if Franksmile ever decide to reopen. Had a funny feeling as the London store was so empty, and when booking an appointment, pretty much all the appointment times were available, so I knew they didnt have many customers right off the bat. Franksmile are now joined to YourSmileDirect, which seem more legit as they have enough money to be posting ads on Youtube. However, if I do opt for aligners onlne again (saves some money compared to seeing in person), which wont be any time soon, I will definitely do even more research first.

I got the impression kit for about £19…

I got the impression kit for about £19 I had to do them 3 times but franksmile sent me the second two kits free of charge. I'm on aligners 14 now and the treatment plan is going well. I am really pleased with the progress. I have 7 more aligners left and the retainer. I have only just found out today they have gone bankrupt and have not received any information from them or tabeo about this. I'm still paying them off so I'm not sure what happens now or where I stand....

Does this company even exist anymore?

I have completed my full treatment and am on my retainers. Overall they fixed 85% of what I wanted but I could do with one more retainer - as my tooth issues weren't that bad.
I was actually refunded £100 last year as they arrived so late without complaining which was a surprise but I was paying monthly and overall paid £1300.
In the grand scheme of things, this is still much cheaper than Invisalign (my friend has paid £3000) but it depends on how extensive your issues are. I do wish I had gone with a more established company now.
I have written an email to them 5 days ago to request a final retainer to fix one of the teeth more but alas I guess I won't be hearing from them.
Has anyone heard from them in the last couple of months?

HORRIBLE COMPANY

HORRIBLE COMPANY. Im surprised there are any positive reviews for these people. Its been 9 months and I haven't received anything! They haven't responded to any of my recent emails in 2020 - Tabeo haven't been able to help, and keep trying to take money from my account for the loan. They went through bankruptcy and then sent some useless email saying they were back and will send out the outstanding retainers - but here we are another 2 months later and still nothing. I cannot believe how horribly they have treated their customers and I cannot believe they can continue to operate!!

No contact with real Orthodontists....

I would give 0.5 star or none if possible. Haven't had contact with an orthodontist since early January. Keep sending them pictures of how aligners are not fitting my teeth and I get customer support (the same copied email every month) saying to keep on continuing with old set. Have headaches and jaw is clicking out of place (and sooo loud) every time I chew food.

Ordered my retainers mid last year…

Ordered my retainers mid last year after doing tons of research. I like others was very skeptical of a company who were providing a service for 1/5 of the price i was quoted by my local dentist.

After a lot of research i figured i’ll take precautions during the purchasing phase to eliminate the possibility of a scam or a shabby service.

In order to obtain the above i knew doing anything via a finance company would be a pain and i couldn’t deal with that hassle - so i decided to pay in full.

I used my amex and prior to doing so i called to confirm if my purchase would be insured (via amex) and they confirmed if there is a breach of terms they would retrieve my funds.

Yes there was a slight delay in obtaining my retainers which kept me skeptical - i then came into a minor issue which led me to email support (to which i got no response) and this led me here from where i found out the company has gone into insolvency.

Rang Amex, sent them my emails (dates six weeks prior) and they were able to retrieve my funds.

I guess this has taught me always to remain skeptical when doing business with overseas companies.

I would suggest anyone in a similar situation (if you paid via credit card or paypal) to contact them to retrieve a refund - hopefully this should send a message to companies who take advantage of customers!

DO NOT USE

As others have said, the company has gone into insolvency. I am only just finding out about this today after weeks of trying to get a proper response from them on my braces which have not been working properly. I then realised that the front tooth of my current set has a crack on it, which means it needs replacing. As per the Ts and Cs they should replace it but are refusing to do so because of the insolvency which basically renders the rest of my treatment useless because I can't move on to the next set.

I'm baffled that they didn't contact UK customers (I wasn't contacted) about them going in to insolvency.

As a flag to those who have received their aligners - if you ask for support the Franksmile team will just tell you to keep wearing your current set and move on when ready. They are useless. If you religiously use your chewies and spend a bit longer on each set to be safe you should be OK but I would be more careful than normal as you will not receive any replacements or ANY customer care. I have two payments left and will try to cancel with Tabeo but who knows if I will be able to. Such a waste of money.
