I instructed this sole trader law firm…

I instructed this sole trader law firm on December 2023. On the phone he advised me that it was on "no win no fee", when he sent me the agreement he requested £600 so called fixed fee. About three months later he requested £840 for a two hour hearing, saying that was not covered in the fixed fee. About four months later, he requested £1500+ vat for a hearing which didn't exist, when I asked him to send me paperwork from Employment Tribunal, he replied that it was a confusion, and it was a mistake. In April 2024,he sent me quotations from four different barristers, the cheapest one was £14,000, so it became apparent that he was not willing to settle the case without the need to go to the final hearings which would last for 7 days. I consulted another Employment specialist fim and was advised that The case was not worth more than £10,000 and that it was a big risk to pay a barrister £14,000, and he asked £80,000 initially, second time, £50,000,third time £40,000, he was acting out only for his own interest. His intentions were to take the case straight to the final hearings. I didn't have £14,000 to pay the Barrister, and I had to withdraw from the agreement, he settled the case for £9.5000, he kept the money, besides he sent me a bill for £17,0000 for breach of agreement. I strongly believe that he plays the same tactics with everyone. My advice to you, is to stay well away from this Sole Trader Law Firm, do not even contact him for advice.

Deeply disappointing, extremely costly, and not a service I could recommend

My experience with this firm, and with Jonathan Frederick in particular, was extremely poor. I was charged more than £12,000 for a case that barely progressed, never reached a hearing, and ultimately had to be taken forward by myself after ending the retainer. The majority of the bill came from charges for reading emails — even when those emails received no reply and did absolutely nothing to advance my case.

I repeatedly felt unsupported and left in the dark. When I asked for a proper meeting to discuss my situation, I was refused, yet I continued to be billed for every small piece of correspondence. The service felt transactional, impersonal, and focused far more on billing than on actually helping me.

Looking back, the fees were totally disproportionate to the work delivered, and the value I received was extremely poor. I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before instructing this firm based on my experience.

Wish there was a choice of ‘Zero’

Wish there was a choice of ‘Zero’, I would’ve given them a zero rating. Very unprofessional and rude attitude.
They did not wanted to take my case on ‘No Win No Fee’ basis and for that reason they acted like they were representing my Employer.
When I asked them to listen to what I say that why my dismissal was unfair then their representative said, “we will represent you but not on NWNF.” I said, no thanks I don’t want you to represent me even for free.
My advice to others is, “AVOIDE THIS LAW FIRM!”

Hi Shahid.

We listened carefully to what you had to say. You accepted that you did the conduct complained of by your employer, which resulted in your dismissal. Conduct such as that amounts to gross misconduct and in such circumstances a Tribunal is likely to find that a dismissal is fair. You did not accept our opinion and again repeated your reasons why you felt that your dismissal was unfair. We explained why those reasons did not make any difference to the likely outcome of your case but again you did not accept our opinion or explanation. As the reasons you gave did not change our view on the merits of your case, we advised you that as there was less than 51% chance of success, a no win no fee agreement was not suitable. We do have to be frank and transparent with the advice that we give and we do appreciate that you were disappointed because this was not the advice that you were expecting, given that you were adamant that your dismissal was unfair. However, we would rather be honest and open with our advice than to give you a false sense of hope and charge you for a case that is likely to be unsuccessful.

Reccomend

Very clear explanation around what I could expect & what is normal during work grievances. Was even kind enough to send it in writing so I can refer to it later.

Exceptional service and settlement for my Tribunal case

From my initial conversation to the settlement of my case, Jonathan was not only extremely professional but very friendly which made my experience the best it could be in a difficult time of my life. My case was a challenging one, with no settlement in sight. Despite my limited knowledge on Employment Law and how to take a case to court, Jonathan took care great care to explain everything I needed to do and prepare all my paperwork for Tribunal. He also continued attempts at negotiation, whilst providing reassurance which was very welcome. Jonathan always got back to my emails promptly and took the time to have phone calls when we needed to discuss things in more detail. He very kindly took on my case as a no win no fee which was the only way I could afford to pursue the case. Just before the case was to go to court, he managed to settle my case at a figure above what I had hoped going in which was a huge relief. Had it not been for his hard work, professional manner and kindness, I would not have been able to find closure. I would absolutely recommend his services, and I hope for anyone reading this review to consider at least reaching out. Prior to Frederick Solicitors, I had dealt with a few other solicitors and I can say for certain his service was the best.
