€1,000 Frédérique Constant watch…

€1,000 Frédérique Constant watch irreparable after only 4.5 years, very disappointing after-sales service

I am extremely disappointed with both the durability of my Frédérique Constant watch and, particularly, the way my case has been handled by their after-sales service.

I purchased my Frédérique Constant watch (FC-285BSR5TB6) in February 2022 for approximately €1,000. In 2026, after only around four and a half years, the watch developed a defect.

I contacted Frédérique Constant expecting that the watch could simply be repaired. Instead, their After-Sales department informed me in writing that this watch range can no longer be repaired because their supplier has stopped its support and production.

I find that remarkable for a Swiss watch in this price category. I did not expect a €1,000 watch to effectively become irreparable after approximately four and a half years because parts or technical support are no longer available.

Frédérique Constant subsequently offered me a CHF 250 voucher, which can only be used towards purchasing another Frédérique Constant or Alpina watch. In other words, their proposed solution to my irreparable €1,000 watch is that I spend substantially more money with the same company to buy another one.

I explained on 10 August that I did not consider this a proportionate solution and asked them to reconsider, suggesting replacement with a comparable watch as an appropriate solution. I received no response.

I followed up again on 19 August. Again, no response.

What started as disappointment about a product has therefore become disappointment about the brand itself. A premium watch should, in my opinion, be supported and serviceable for considerably longer than four and a half years. And if that unexpectedly becomes impossible due to the manufacturer’s own supply/support situation, I would expect a premium brand to take meaningful responsibility for the customer experience.

Unfortunately, a CHF 250 voucher followed by weeks without responding to my emails has seriously damaged my confidence in Frédérique Constant.

I would strongly recommend that prospective buyers consider not only the purchase price and design of a watch, but also the availability of long-term after-sales support.

FREDERIQUE CONSTANT builds junk

FREDERIQUE CONSTANT builds costume jewelry junk. My mechanical watch has constantly lost time (at least two minutes a day since the day I bought it). If you want a technical watch, save your money and spend it on a reputable brand, not FREDERIQUE CONSTANT. Pure junk.

Weeks of Delays and No Response

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I have received from Frédérique Constant.

I ordered a longer replacement watch strap through an authorised retailer, Beaverbrooks. Unfortunately, the manufacturer sent the wrong strap they supplied one that was exactly the same size as the original rather than the longer version that had been specifically requested.

This resulted in weeks of unnecessary delays, inconvenience and frustration while the issue was investigated and reordered. Throughout the process, Beaverbrooks have been excellent and have done everything they could to help, so my criticism is directed solely at Frédérique Constant.

To make matters worse, I emailed Frédérique Constant’s customer service over a week ago to raise my concerns, and I have still not received even the courtesy of an acknowledgement or a reply.

For a brand that positions itself as a luxury watch manufacturer, I expected far better after-sales support and communication. Mistakes can happen, but ignoring customers when they try to resolve them is simply unacceptable.

Based on my experience, the product may be of good quality, but the customer service has fallen well below the standard I would expect from a luxury brand.

The worst customer service experience…

The worst customer service experience of my life.
I bought a watch online that I didn’t like and tried to return.
Neither the customer portal nor order history search on their website worked.
To inquiries through the “contact us” portal on their website were never responded to.
I called the office multiple times during business hours but the voicemail always said the office was closed.
I requested a call back and never received one.
Finally, I called Citizen, which is their parent brand.
They helped me process the return, but it took a month to get my money back, in spite of their guarantee of a refund within 10 business days.
Not much better than a scam.
Buyer Beware.

I have been very impressed with…

I have been very impressed with Frederique Constant’s customer service.

After my watch developed a sealing issue that allowed moisture to enter while I was washing a large number of dishes during an event, I contacted their after-sales team. Although the watch is still within its two-year warranty, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

From the very first email, I felt heard and taken seriously. The customer service representative was incredibly kind, responsive, and professional. I received clear instructions right away on how to send the watch to their service center, and they arranged the process at no cost to me. The communication has been fast, reassuring, and very customer-oriented.

While the final inspection is still pending, the way Frederique Constant has handled my case so far has given me confidence in the brand. Standing behind their products with a two-year warranty and providing such attentive after-sales support makes a real difference.

Beautiful watches are one thing, but excellent after-sales service is what builds trust. Thank you to the Frederique Constant team for making me feel heard and well taken care of.

Very poor Customer Service attitude

Very poor Customer Service attitude. Customer Service claim they no longer support Frederique Constant Analytics device which Frederique Constant sold me a few years ago. The device is now branded as as Swiss Connect Analytics which is actually an offshoot of Frederique Constant, but Swiss Connect refuses to accept the serial number of my device in their app. Frederique Constant support - if they cared about the reputation of their watch brand - could have liaised with their offshoot Swiss Connect to enable the Swiss Connect app to accept the serial number of my device in their app database and thus render it operational - and this would have served to keep up their reputation with their client base. Instead they chose the easiest way out - they no longer support it -and thus quickly close the case. Doesn't fill me with confidence about the Frederique Constant watch brand if they can abandon their clients like this... Bad ethics!

WARNING: Warranty denied on €4.5k Manufacture Flyback (FC-760) — "Impact" excuse used to void warranty.

I am writing this to warn potential buyers about Frédérique Constant’s 'Manufacture' line and their After-Sales Service.

I purchased a Flyback Chronograph Manufacture (Ref. FC-760NS4H6) in January 2025. The Timeline of Failure:

Month 5: The movement stopped. Sent for repair under warranty.

Month 9: Returned from repair.

Month 10 (3 weeks later): The watch stopped working again.

The Scam: I returned the watch to the authorized retailer, who inspected it and confirmed it was in good condition with no signs of impact or misuse. However, the Frédérique Constant service center in Geneva claimed the watch had suffered 'major impact on gravel' and refused the warranty, sending me a repair quote nearly equal to the watch's value.

The Evidence:

My authorized retailer wrote to FC explicitly stating the watch was NOT damaged when I handed it to them. FC replied that the retailer's word was 'not acceptable.'

The leather strap is pristine. How can a watch fall on gravel hard enough to dent steel without scratching the leather strap attached to it?

The watch had just come back from their service network 3 weeks prior. It is highly likely the damage occurred in their custody or shipping.

Conclusion: Frédérique Constant has refused to honor their warranty on a defective product that failed twice in under a year. They ignored the intake report of their own authorized dealer to shift blame onto the customer.

Do not buy this brand. If you get a 'lemon,' they will find an excuse to make you pay for it.

Small update: Even by trying to contact the CEO through LinkedIn by replying under 1 off the post they just delete it.

The clockwork of my FC stopped working…

The clockwork of my FC stopped working after 1,5 year. I sent it back to the manufacturer because it was still in the warranty period. I waited for 3 months and then finally got a reply with them telling me I had to pay hundreds of euros and that the warranty doesn’t apply. Never buying a FC ever again, worst experience I’ve ever had with a watchmaker.

Do not buy FC watches!!

I purchased an FC horological smartwatch roughly five years ago and have worn it only a few times. I recently had the battery changed and the watch “just died”. The hands stopped moving, despite trying multiple diagnostics and then sending to a very experienced watch repair shop. They determined that the smart module needs replacing, but neither FC nor MMT, which makes the modules, supports the watch anymore! Should a $1200 watch only last 5 years, especially when barely worn?! I honestly would never buy an FC watch again, based on this despicable experience!!

Poor quality of Alligator strap clasp

Following the glass face replacement of my Frederique Constant watch, the alligator strap clasp was put on the opposite way to how it had originally been. A pin/screw in the clasp then kept coming out. I returned to Ernest Jones who had sent it away for glass replacement and they tried to fix it in the store for me. It didn't last long before I was back again with the same problem with the pin/screw because it had slid out and was broken. I have been advised that the whole clasp now requires replacing at a cost to me of £102. Needless to say, I am not prepared to have it replaced because I have no confidence in the quality of Frederique Constant products. I can't believe the poor quality of the clasp on such an expensive strap and I am bitterly disappointed with my whole experience.

Watch battery ran out twice after 9…

Watch battery ran out twice after 9 months. The watch is advertised as water resistant, but condensation in a bathroom is already sufficient to get into the casing even where the watch is placed away from a bath on a window ledge and there is ventilation.

The cost of the repair post warrant accounts for 74% of the watch purchase price. There is little understanding from the company.

The watches are pretty especially at that price bracket but are designed to break routinely. The repair is costly so it's just become an expensive trinket. Pity. It's such a bad experience it also put me off citizen. As an example, they quoted me 200 GBP to replace just the dial on a 500 GBP watch and would not address the battery without the dial. They just kept reminding that if I get the watch serviced at a non-approved dealership then my warranty will be voided. In total the cost of repair would account for 74% of the value of the watch, every 9 months. I shudder to think how much money I'd have wasted if I bought one of the 2k slimline watches that I see others have experiences issues with.

Poor aftersales of product

Poor aftersales of product. This is the second time I had to send the watch in due to poor accuracy. First time took longer than usual. Now is worse. Watch was sent in May 24, did not receive any update until Oct 24 to estimate completion in Mar 25.
No communication along the way and emails to them went unanswered. Never expected this kind of service after spending 4k on a luxury watch. Accessible watch? Not really given these circumstances.

Terrible Quality

While the watch looks very nice (FC-335MC4P6), it already broke 3 times. First time I've sent it in service they told me a screw was loose. Second time, it just stopped working midnight (at a date change) and I've sent it in service and they've told me nothing was wrong with it.

Now, it is the 3rd time that it broke, again on a date change.

It looks nice, but that's all, but it only if you plan to hold it in a glass case as trinket, which I doubt that it is the intention any buyers.

Usually I don't write reviews, but I've felt inclined to write this one for preventing other people from being scammed, since it is not a cheap piece (~2000EUR)

Really poor service in the UK

Really poor service in the UK. 3-year-old Watch stopped 10 months after the second battery replacement. Service through "Citizen" portal is abysmal; I have to keep logging on to see if I have any messages; they do not contact me. Six weeks after sending my watch in I see a cryptic quote for a "Service" that's half the cost of a new watch. Don't buy one of these if you expect after-sales service.

Shockingly poor quality

Poor quality. Paid very good money for this watch. Battery died very early and this was covered but suddenly the watch, about 5 years old and not worn much, looses time and the seconds hand moves erratically. Now out of warranty and I have little motivation to put any money into it to fix given these failures. I’ve had far better service from watches that were a mere fraction of the price. Avoid

Avoid at any cost!!! The worst lifetime experience ever

Avoid at any cost!!!
Untested faulty watch was supplied, never kept time, was not fixed under the warranty and stopped working with no reason at all.
Dealing with Frederique Constant was the worst lifetime experience ever. My case has never been resolved.
Any existing watch brand would be a way better than Frederique Constant.
Avoid!
