Freecycle.org is free and open to all as a charitable nonprofit site for gifting used items locally rather than tossing them. There is no registration, and one need only sign up one time to use Freecycle.org with an email, a user ID and set a password: that's it. No credit cards or billing address etc as everything is gifted for free. Perhaps you are trying a similar *for profit* website? Otherwise try clearing your cookies as the site is working fine. If you still are having issues, click on the green "?" in the bottom righthand corner of the website and our volunteer help team will be there for you. Sincerely, Deron Beal, The Freecycle Network

These emails are not from Freecycle.org and have nothing to do with our charitable org or website. They are spoofing "email reset" emails from us. Joining or not joining Freecycle.org has no impact on whether you receive this scam email.

I quit being a Freecycle member after they without notice or explanation deleted two of my posts for free firewood. Lots of people locally including me need and use significant amounts of firewood in the colder months.

Sorry to hear that. Local groups sometimes limit how often one may repeat Wanted posts so that the group isn't overwhelmed. Feel free to let us know the local group and we are glad to look into it. Each group is run by a local volunteer moderator and local groups are free and open to all. Thx, Deron/Freecycle

Impossible to get a post listed !!

Attempted to post a giveaway more than 24 hours ago, still waiting for an invisible moderator to approve it. Have been a 'member' for 8 years, first time this has happened. Not only 'not yet approved' but 2 messages to the moderator achieve a zero response. I recently moved to sleepy Windsor UK, so I guess that is the norm here. Using 'freegle' gives an instant result. Will quit freecycle.org by the end of today.

Thanks for the input. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. Sometimes "burps" can happen. We have a volunteer-led Group Outreach and Assistance team that is now reaching out to your local group in Windsor to see if there are any issues. Best regards, Deron

Reporting function is broken

Local groups lack moderation, the website is clunky and poorly designed, some functions are broken, worst of all, reporting function is broken. I guess it doesn't matter, since there's no one to review the reports.

Freecycle.org enables people to give used items to others in their local community free of charge. If you had an issue with a fellow local member, you should let your local volunteer moderator know by clicking on "contact moderator" in your local group. Generally folks are quite happy to get a "new to them" item and are quite appreciative. Sorry you had a bad experience. Help us make it better by passin on that info; with a screenshot is best. Sincerely, Deron Beal

Log in problems!

For me the company could improve their log in system. After following advise from an operative, I still cannot log in after changing my password. Therefore, sadly I cannot inform the 3 people who contacted me about my folding desk that it has been taken. I have given up trying.

5 stars for the nice people who have…

5 stars for the nice people who have asked politely for an item ( “ I’ll have that” isn’t going to get a look in)
People who have helped me when I’ve needed stuff, or even needed to just borrow weird sized spanner’s for an hour or two.
And nice people who’ve turned up when they say they will.
Zero stars to the grabby, entitled people who say they want something then can’t be bothered turning up, including the person who couldn’t collect plants until the next day so told me ( not asked) to put them in the shade and water them……and then didn’t bother collecting.
The site works well, it’s the idiots and selfish people who detract from it.

Don't Bother - Waste of Time

I signed-up for Freecycle in order to responsibly get rid of an old (but still good) desk. I had one person interested in it, but we got as far as arranging a collection time when they told me they had "picked one up just this morning".
While I was on there I attempted to help out other people, only to discover that they either had not updated their original 'Wanted' post, or were otherwise wasting my time.
One chap wanted a "Mini-PC or Laptop". I replied saying I had a Mini-PC but he said he would prefer a laptop, so I dug out an old laptop for him and replied again, only for him to say that he had just picked up a Mini-PC...
I have now deleted my account and will not be returning.

Sharing user’s info

I’ve received about 20 password resets with user’s info in the past 2 weeks. I’m not a member of this site and I’ve never heard of it prior. I emailed their support but they said it’s spoof account however the emails come directly from their domain, no_reply@ the domain. I would not give this website any personal info.

Thank you for providing this information to us. As you are not a member of Freecycle but are receiving multiple password reset emails that appear to come from us, you're being targeted by a spammer or bot. These emails are not being sent from Freecycle's servers—they're being spoofed to look like they are.

Unfortunately, because these messages aren’t coming from our system, Freecycle cannot stop them directly. You'll see similar emails from banks or the Geek Squad, etc.

You should mark these messages as Spam in your email client. This will help your provider filter similar messages in the future.

We understand how frustrating this is and appreciate your help in reporting it.

Kind regards,
Deron Beal, Executive Director

They have deep IT problems

They have deep IT problems. I get dozens of password reset links in my email with other people's email addresses on. If I try to reset my password to sign on to contact them, I never get the link. They possibly have big security flaws, avoid.

This is a spoof email currently being sent from scamming entities. It's not from Freecycle at all. Please disregard it. Sometimes you'll see similar emails from your bank, UPS, etc. that have nothing to do with your bank, but look legitimate. It has nothing to do with any Freecycle memberships and, indeed, most recipients don't even have a charitable nonprofit Freecycle gifting and re-use account. Unfortunately we have no control over these emails as they are not being sent by The Freecycle Network / our servers.

Never got approved!

Really wanted to give away a good quality mattress rather than taking it to the tip. Sat there for over 2 days ‘awaiting approval’ and now our storage unit lease is coming to an end and I’ll have to bin it.
Wish I’d gone elsewhere to give this away and prevent waste.

Local group moderators are volunteers and occasionally a post catches our hotwords. What is the name of your local community and region and we can check on this? Thanks. Deron

Yet again I have a post awaiting moderation.
Unlike freecycle, I am trying to save the planet.
The last time that this happened I eventually took the item to the council tip!
This time, the description says..
A little used Humax Youview / freeview recorder that was kept in our caravan. It does not power up properly and I suspect is in need of 1 or more capacitors to be replaced....

What is wrong with this??

Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. We have a team of volunteers to assure that these positions are filled and active and we discourage moderation of all posts in local groups. Feel free to note the group location: town and region, and the central team will reach out to the moderator to be sure all is well. Thanks, Deron Beal, Executive Director, The Freecycle Network.

Tried to post an item for free

Tried to post an item for free 3 days ago and was scammed as a different window opened when I had entered my credit card details... I tried to go back but too late money was nearly taken out of my account, luckily my CC company was on the ball, obviously Freecycle is not!!! This is a security risk. Unlikely whether I'll try again Freecycle must sort out its security. That is not acceptable.

Membership and use of Freecycle.org / The Freecycle Network is free and open to all. We are a charitable nonprofit. Never give credit card info to someone claiming to be Freecycle in order to join up. Also: note that our domain name is freecycle.org not .com.
