Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 63 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the product's quality, citing issues with inaccurate readings that were significantly different from traditional blood tests, leading to serious concerns about reliability and safety. Customers also reported frequent sensor failures, with devices stopping prematurely or losing signal, and problems with the adhesive causing sensors to fall off. The customer service experience was also a major point of frustration for many, with reports of long wait times, difficulty communicating with representatives, and unhelpful responses when seeking replacements or support for faulty products. Some reviewers mentioned receiving replacements that were equally problematic, and a lack of accountability from the company regarding product malfunctions.

The unit cannot be calibrated. My CGM and finger stick readings, especially while fasting, were way off (greater than 20%). I cannot rely on it.

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Get used to finger sticks again. The 3 plus sensor has signal loss 4 or 5 out of 10 times I try to check my blood sugar. This has been ongoing since the low blood sugar readings 3 sensors ago.

The sensor failed prematurely

The sensor failed prematurely. The help line was no help. Person I was talking to spoke poor English and was very difficult to understand. They denied my request for a replacement sensor. Basically, they would not stand behind their product. I was very disappointed and may look for an alternative.

Garbage and worthless

This Libre 3 is garbage.I have the 5th one in my arm and this one goes below 70 and the alarm goes off and 10 minutes later is says 240.They are not dependable and probably will end up killing you and the other ones before this one does not give good readings either.Bottom line if you value your health these are not the ones for you.I'm going back to finger pricking. They should be sued.

Software and support sucks

Nice tiny sensor. Great glue. Waterproofing good. Functions well.

The software is a disaster. It's almost impossible to get your data into Apple Health (you need 3 apps to even try that). When I accidentally removed my account (because it said I had to use a 'follower' account), and recreated my original account (since the follower account didn't do the trick either), my 6 day old sensor was bricked.
Support just blamed me and said the device was not broken.
Switching to Dexcom now.

Very unreliable results

I've recently heard that there was recall of faulty fibre sensors. I bear witness to this after yesterdays events. During a walk I started with numbness in my legs ( hypo symptoms I usually get) but sensor was reading a blood sugar of 6.Last night I woke to a blood sugar of 26.8 which the sensor said was rising rapidly. I took a correction dose of 5 units of fiasp quick acting insulin. I consequently went badly low and had to be helped to take lucozade. Given that I was doubting the efficacy of the sensor which 8 hours later was again reading 26 I did a finger prick comparison blood test which read 9. This huge difference in readings could be life threatening and I will consequently be complaing to Abbott and would urge anyone using these sensors to always do a comparison finger prick test when the readings are not as they are estimated to be.

These continuous glucose monitors are…

These continuous glucose monitors are absolute junk. I have tried to use them, taken a break, deleted the app, and tried them again, all with the same results. I get a low blood glucose alert almost every time I use one of these things. When I prick my finger, I am ALWAYS in range, and NO the sensors that I have are NOT part of the recall. I have checked them all. When I tried to call their customer service number earlier today it said that there was a 30 minute wait to speak with someone, and there is no way to leave your number to get a call back. I decided to try this evening, just before I wrote this review, just to see if many there was someone there in the evening.. There is not. Here is the kicker. You have to go through a bunch of prompts to get to a recording that lets you know that the office is now closed and that they are open during normal business hours. Super frustrating to have to go through all of the prompts and then get this message. Then I decided to go to support on their website. It says that chat is available 24/7. Right below that it says chat is unavailable. Go figure. Not only is their product junk, their customer service majorly sucks. I used to have Dexcom, their competitor, and I had no problems with them. Unfortunately the insurance that I have now does not cover them. I will not be using this product any longer. One last thing. There is no way you can turn the obnoxious low blood glucose level warning sounds off, unless you power off your phone. If you forget get to turn off your phone, there is a good chance that you will be awakened in the middle of the night with the alarm with an inaccurate reading. The first couple of times I got out of bed and pricked my finger to see if it was true, and it was not. My blood glucose level was well within a safe zone. If at all possible, I would steer clear of the Freestyle Libre 3 continuous glucose monitor.

Inaccurate readings and they fall off…

Inaccurate readings and they fall off so easily. I have had all four sensors fall off while just sitting watching tv. I place the sensor where they tell me to and I clean the area and make sure it is dry before placing, but it always seems to fall off within the week. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Libre 3+ are trash

I started off with a dexcom I was given and loved it. Insurance only covered Libre 3+. I have used 4 Libre 3+ now and 75% of them have had an issue. 2 of them stopped working correctly and needed replaced after about 10 days. Its also frightening how many points off it can be (ranging between 10-40 when working) (reporting extreme lows when its failing). For such an expensive and health sensitive device these are JUNK! Customer service, online and by phone get you no where.

My Tolerance for device problems has been reached!

I have been using the Libre 3 Plus for about 7 months. It’s a remarkable device technically, however operation is frequently interrupted by sensor failures occurring for both short, long periods during the device 15 day life cycle. The support people are very pleasant when you finally get through to them which can many times take 30 minutes to over an hour. The automated message warms you that call volume is very high. I think to myself that is because people are calling because the device fails so much. I say fix the problems or get more support people to answer the phones. In the past I have had to be without the meter for more than a week waiting for the replacement. Most recently when I called support the support agent agreed to ship it overnight since I have no other devices from my monthly allotment.
In my case Medicare pays for the device and like most things that people get free you tend to not complain when there is an occasional problem. However, the problems with this device have exceeded my tolerance for poor performance and so I am writing this in home of getting action to fix the problems not to tarnish the brand.

The Libre 3 Plus is a piece of garbage

The Libre 3 Plus is a piece of garbage. The first one my doctor placed on would not download any data after two weeks. The 2nd one they placed on fell off in a few days. The company sent me a replacement. I followed the instructions to the letter and it fell off in a few minutes before I could even place some medical tape on it to hold it on. The 2nd one before it fell off once gave me a reading of 55 and an alarm. I checked my blood sugar and it was 121.

Sensor is inaccurate and customer service is a joke

I’m a new user, but am confident my sensor is installed correctly (several diabetics in my family use similar sensors). This product AND the customer service is a total joke. The device is consistently reading 30-40 mg inaccurately low. It is NOT part of the recall according to the serial number lookup. Have tried for HOURS to get on their live chat to discuss, only for it to disconnect at the last minute or to show “You’re next in line. Connecting…” for TWENTY minutes before I gave up. Like most others, I would not recommend.

Beware of Libre 3+ Sensors That Read Way to Low

I have been using Freestyle Libre sensors for years with good experience. The Libre 2and 3 would sometimes just stop. But BEWARE, the 3+ sensors have a recall on sensors that read very low. I have had two sensors in a row that read 50-60 points low compared to finger sticks. I documented last sensor with side by side photos of app and glucose meter. (Abbott Precision Neo)

Libre 3 Very inaccurate

I’m getting increasingly frustrated with the Libre 3 and unless it’s updated I really wouldn’t recommend it.

Pros:
Size compared to libre2
Application easy
Customer Service from abbot Ireland excellent, no quibble replacements.

Cons:
Shockingly inaccurate continuously

The amount of low alarms that my son has received in the last 2 months since changing over is awful but the real blood glucose levels are always far higher (hands always washed etc)

Regularly telling me his glucose is in the 2s but in reality it could be in the 5s or even 6s occasionally.

I haven’t slept properly in months due to monitoring false hypos!

Getting very tired and frustrated at this stage.

Edit to update: this morning at 1am the low alarm rang showing 2.8, his real bloods are 13.5 I retested 3 times on clean hands because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Absolutely shocking!!!

I have had the Libre3 for 1 month

I have had the Libre3 for 1 month. The first sensor only lasted for 5 day then gave an error. I submitted an email but have never gotten a reply. The second sensor lasted 8 days then gave an error to replace. I am paying out of pocket at $37. Each sensor. The customer support line puts you on hold then hangs up. The online reporting won't accept my phone number saying it's not 10 digit, which it is. The online chat does not respond. I do not recommend this product as it is very faulty and you cant get customer support to help.

Libre 3 Plus routinely fails after about ten days

Libre 3 Plus. For the last four sensors, the system has ceased to function after 10 days. Abbot replaced one of them. Rough guess is that the battery in the sensor fails after about ten days, the sensor then ceases to talk to the phone and I get a "signal loss" error that does not clear.
This is a systemic failure of some sort. They sensors quit before the advertised length of operational time.

I have excessive problems with sensors

I have excessive problems with sensors. I lose signals even when in very close proximity to my phone, i have trouble scanning, and the sensors fall off. I cant use the adhesive due to skin irritation. Customer service queues are as long as 90 minutes in my experience and now they won't offer replacement due to excessive requests! Yes, the requests are excessive over 6 months. The problems are excessive. I am very depressed about this becuase when it works, it works well. I worry that I will have more failures before my next batch is sent to me. I feel like I have been put on their crazy person list! /They should not put clients in this situation.

I am writing to share my disappointing…

I am writing to share my disappointing experience with Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3, in the hopes of warning others who may be considering ordering from this company. If you have blood sugar issues, I strongly advise against using their products due to the subpar performance I experienced. Within a two-week period, I received four faulty sensors, which they requested be returned in a box that lacked clear instructions. Their customer support is unresponsive, and when they do answer, the calls are often lengthy and difficult to understand. Abbott sent me two recalled sensors, a bent needle that appeared used, and a sensor that fell out of my arm due to a lack of adhesion. These incidents led me to switch to the Dexcom brand. The return box they provided did not have a return label, and they continue to spam me with emails encouraging me to make additional purchases. Their website acknowledges a 40% failure rate for their sensors, which is unacceptable. I have never experienced such poor service from a medical company, and I will not recommend them to anyone. The five mistakes I encountered within a month are inexcusable, and I have been left without vital data for December. My doctor requires these readings, but due to Abbott's failures, I have none to provide. I am unable to leave a review on their website, so I am sharing my experience here to warn others against ordering from this company.

Freestyle Libre 3 sensors failed

I used the Abbott Freestyle Libre, then the “2”, then the “3”. I stopped using the Freestyle 3 about ten months ago because 20-25% of the sensors failed outright or gave a low reading higher than what a finger-stick showed. I can thoroughly understand the new warnings!
