Nightmare like the rest

Much like the other reviews here things went from bad to shocking and we're stuck out of pocket.
First, the initial call to run through the recommended kit was cancelled last minute on multiple occasions. Then when the fusion 8 team were finally able to attend the service rep was flustered, lacked sufficient knowledge to answer our questions and cut us off to go on another call. Our request for a follow up call was ignored. Once we'd done our own research we decided to proceed with the quote anyway.
The survey was then performed without issue, and a deposit requested from us that required a bank transfer for 25% of the overall cost. No credit card option was provided. This was in early January.
Then radio silence for 8 weeks. We eventually asked for an update and were told (March) that things were proceeding according to plan.
Further silence.
A month later (April) we received an email from Solar together to say the HIES accreditation had been withdrawn and not to proceed with fusion 8, followed shortly after by an email from fusion 8 to say this was an "administrative error" and all was well. After a few days another email from Solar together reiterated not to go ahead with fusion 8 and to request a refund of deposit from them. I called solar together to discuss and was told fusion 8 did not have HIES backing for deposits and we should not proceed with them. I tried contacting fusion 8 to get further information but the phone lines had been switched off and there was no reply to email.
We followed up with another email (end of April) to formally cancel our installation and request our deposit back and received no confirmation.
In early May we received general comms to say they were experiencing issues processing refund, couldn't provide a timeline, will provide an update but won't respond to emails (!)
A week later another general email to say they were calling everyone individually and would leave a message if their call was missed. No call came through, no voicemail received.
Now in late may another comms to say because fusion 8 is unable to carry out the install they've arranged with another installer from Oxford to complete the work.
In the meantime we've engaged with another installer recommended by solar together who progressed from first contact through survey and installation in 3 weeks.
Nightmare communication, conflicting statements and some bold faced lies. Avoid!

Awful company - avoid.

Awful company. Would give zero if I could. Paid them £1200 deposit for solar panels and batteries in December 2024. It took months of chasing to finally get an installation date, only for the contract to be cancelled.

They had not completed a registration under a deposit refund scheme and the scheme also advised that even if it had been completed, I did not qualify as the scheme is only paid for claims within 120 days of the deposit being paid.

I communicated with Fusion-8 by email, telephone and registered letter in an attempt to get my deposit refunded. After initially saying they would pay, they then said their were 'issues' preventing them from paying. Their telephone lines were then cut off.

The last communication from them said they would ring all affected customers within two weeks. Not heard from them since.

Cowboys. Don't go near them.

rubbish after care, can't get hold of anyone, no phone numbers work.

Damage to roof that they denied they had anything to do with. Not able to get the receipt in the names required for the payments from the grid that is required for our energy supplier and the fitting diagrams this has been going on for nearly 2 years. I send emails and the person picking up promises the world and we get nothing back. I have now threatened them with court action.

Great Solar System

I used Fusion8 as part of the Hampshire Solar Together scheme and was originally concerned about the feedback that I saw on this site. I did call up Fusion8 and expressed my concerns and talked the the MD Tony, who seemed to be very reasonable and convinced me that they could do a good job and he was indeed right.
It did take a little while to get things going and the back office did have a couple of crossed wires but once we had the survey completed it was great. Things happened very quickly & smoothly. The scaffolding turned up when planned, the electrician and roofing team turned up exactly on schedule and did a very neat job and the scaffolding was taken down as scheduled a short time after.
The Solar panels & battery system is fantastic. After the install we had a small issue with the CT cable that got sorted out quite promptly. The levels of power generation now are really quite impressive.
We received all of the complete documentation set a few days after the invoice was settled.
Very happy with the final product & service.

Terrible service

Feel Sorry for everyone who is dealing with this terrible company. I pulled out in early April and got my money back only after complaining through my bank.

The company’s name came up on Santander website and I assumed they must be good without further research, which turned out to be bad move. My first contact with Fusion8 was in July 2024. Initial consultation seemed fine and I paid a deposit of nearly £4000 soon after. Everything else following that was terrible, no contact after repeated attempts to contact them via email and phone. They didn’t apply for DNO until December 2024 and kept lying about it.
Further disappointment ensued with no installation date until April 2025 that was cancelled at the last minute.
After 9 months of frustration and appalling service, finally got my money back after raising a complaint through my bank. Their MD sent several nasty and threatening emails. I have contacted trading standards also.

Another disgruntled individual

Adding myself to so many disgruntled customers before me. All appear similarly affected. In my case slow progress from the start. I currently have scaffolding up in two locations. Fusion8 provided incorrect location to main scaffolding company. One month passes and a sub contracted scaffolding company arrives to place scaffolding in the correct location. Not interested in removing original scaffolding as not theirs. So now I have two lots to negotiate around. I paid the 25% deposit back in January. Will I ever see its return? Only became aware of actual problem (loss of HIES accreditation) in e mail from Solar Together Berkshire on 17/4/25. Before that it was "only" painfully slow progress. Contacted HIES only to be advised that I haven't been registered. In my opinion Solar Together must accept some responsibility, having placed me with Fusion8.

Fusion 8 Performance

I had the same experience. After the Fusion 8 survey, paid a deposit it turns out wasn't registered with HIES. Now no phone call possible and emails not replied to. A phone call to Solar Together established that around 90 people had their contracts cancelled for lack of F8 capacity. Bit of a lack of oversight by Solar Together on progress of F8 installations and deposits correctly registered with HIES. What to do? Given the number of people affected this matter needs publicity. Any suggestions?

Fusion 8 - avoid

My experience is the same as the other recent posts. I was initially encouraged by the backing of New Forest District Council and Solar Together to go for solar panels but since paying over a hefty deposit contact from Fusion 8 has been poor and disorganised, and no progress made. To then find that I can't now have a compliant system installed is disappointing to say the least, I can't get any response from Fusion 8 and HIES don't have a record of my deposit either. Whether I can get my money back is questionable... As someone else has written - who can you trust?

Fusion-8 Status?

Fusion-8 Status? Similar experience. Survey done, deposit paid and installation anticipated on 16 May. The subsequent communication from Solar Together saying the installation could not proceed and offering an alternative supplier was an admin error, I was told. Fusion-8 reconfirmed the installation date. Concerns raised by a neighbour today prompted a call to Fusion-8 who no longer answer their phone except for a automated message asking for email contact only. So I call Solar Together and I am told that (1) that their mail was not an admin error and (2) that any installation by Fusion-8 would not be covered by warranties etc and may be sub-standard. Obviously I emailed and sent letter to Fusion-8 to cancel the contract. They are obliged to return the deposit (£1600) but whether they will remains to be seen. Considering this is a Hampshire Council approved scheme, you wonder who one can trust?

Fusion-8. AVOID

Signed a contract with solar together Hampshire and fusion8 back in November. Had the same cancellation email as others have mentioned, but scaffolding erected beginning of April with install scheduled for 24/04. Needless to say the installation didn't happen...and the scaffolding remains.

Waiting for solar together to advise on next steps as fusion8 have gone to ground.

Another very disappointed customer. Will I get my solar panels?

Very much like the experiences of Christopher, Steven, Richard and Andy, but at least Andy had a reply from Fusion 8. My installation is also supposed to be still happening. Solar Together Hampshire, provides less than clear information, and has engaged a new company at the same price with a lower specification system. I now must do my calculations over again to see if this is suitable. I had the survey in December and was told installation would be around May. I have neither been asked for nor paid a deposit. After Solar cancelled the contract, I had it reinstated and cancelled again three times in the next six days. I tried to get a payment schedule last week, but after a non-existent return call, four emails and two phone calls, both of which got the message they were 'not answering their phone today', I find I cannot contact Fusion 8 and assume it has now gone out of business. My installation was also scheduled and should be the 20th May. I do not know if this will now happen. The scaffolders tell me they have not been booked for the job. Whilst satisfied with service until the cancellation email, I now find the toxic combination of Fusion 8 and Solar Together Hampshire is outweighing the reduction in cost with the stress this is causing. This scheme was recommended by a relative, who did have a problem with Solar Together Hampshire, and I deeply regret recommending the scheme to a friend. I wonder why Fusion 8 has not had the decency to contact the remaining customers and explained the position.

A Joke of a Company

If I could give a negative 5 rating that's what it would be - absolute joke of a company. Entered into a contract with Hampshire Together and had a not so impressive online survey before agreeing to a design. Paid the deposit and then complete radio silence until I pressed for a physical survey. That was conducted a month later and then absolutely no communication and no install date after another 2 months. Eventually managed to get a response but still no confirmed installation.
Heard from Hampshire Together just before Easter that Fusion 8 had lost its HIES accreditation and then started the process of cancelling the contract which I wished I had done ages ago. Zero response from Fusion 8 so contacted HIES to check on status of deposit that should have been registered with them, but surprise, surpise, it hasn't been. Now in a formal process of trying to get the contract cancelled and recover the deposit - not much hope I suspect.
Don't touch them with a barge pole - if they continue trading as all phone lines are down currently.

Fusion8 Solar Together Scheme

We entered into the Solar Together Scheme thinking we would get a reputable Solar PV company to do the work at a fair price. This couldn’t have been further from the truth!! The initial design engagement started in Aug 2024, which was good, however service rapidly went down hill from this point. We were called by the sales team with pressure tactics to confirm design or loose the opportunity for installation. Countless communications to get the correct number of panels, type of panel & the preferred battery type. Design still wasn’t correct & they requested an installation deposit. Fusion8 tried countless times to arrange the site visit with only 1 days notice, after we advised we needed a week's notice due to work commitments. After the site visit they tried to charge for numerous “extras”. We eventually got fed up with the incompetence and cancelled the whole order, and still got pressure emails saying they had booked an installation date. They also sent us error emails with other customers DNO connection details.
MY ADVICE WOULD BE STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. I engaged another solar company, had everything designed, surveyed & installed in less than 3 months, with a perfect service & installation.

If I could give zero I would do

If I could give zero I would do. We went through the Hampshire County Council (HCC) Solar together scheme and this was the company they offered. The initial online presentation was an indication of things to come: after waiting 15 minutes for Fusion8 to connect to the call, a salesman finally connected but told us their presentation software wasn’t working so we would have to reschedule. He then informed us that they had got it running and proceeded to deliver a confusing and rambling presentation, most of which seemed to be about what he had got in his own house. He seemed unable to answer some very basic questions that we put to him. We were the left with a screen requiring contract signature and payment of a deposit, despite having no idea what our design solution would be as all they could do was suggest a potential number of panels and battery size etc. I informed them that we would not pay the deposit until we knew what we were paying for, which seemed reasonable enough. Before Christmas 2024, the site surveyor attended and, despite us asking for all options from smallest to largest designs to be included, he apparently reported that we only wanted scaffolding along one wall and therefore only one roof was considered (we never mentioned this). Then silence, apart from more requests for deposit despite no forthcoming design. We then received an email from HCC saying the contract had been cancelled, then another from Fusion8 to say that that was an administrative error, then finally another from HCC to say that they had lost their accreditation and it was therefore cancelled.

Unreliable business. Cancelled contract of 8 months waiting

Engaged Fusion8 via the Solar Togetther Hampshire scheme in October 2024. Paid deposit of several thousand pounds at the beginning of this year. Had survey in early Feb. Now in April and Fusion8 has just CANCELLED the contract due to over capacity. So a waste of time and money. Very disappointing from a scheme backed by Hampshire County Council. They should do more thorough vetting to ensure the give contracts to reliable businesses.

Hi Andy, unfortunately due an administrative error a small number of Solar Together customers were incorrectly emailed stating their installation had been cancelled. Please rest assured, your installation has not been cancelled and you’ll hear from us within the next few days to confirm a suitable installation date.

Still waiting

Very quick at asking for the deposit but very slow in actually delivering. I paid my deposit (several thousand pounds) in early January and am still waiting for a site survey. They can never give me a scheduled date, just the occasional last minute cancellations.

Absolutely rubbish company

Absolutely rubbish company, our family is away for holiday this month I have told the staff to email me if need to confirm any date for installation. However, instead by calling that my phone have no network and fusion 8 describes to book in everything for me anyway despite no one would be at home. I don’t understand how difficult it is to email customer for communication. If fusion 8 insists to do the installation in coming days I will call the police and send them away. Gutted

Updated on 23rd-Apr-2025
Solar together understand Fusion 8 may well go bankrupts very soon, which mean i may not get my deposit back. It is just a chaos company. Useless at tall.

Happy to recommend Fusion8 as a trustworthy solar system designer and installer

I am very pleased with the solar system installed by Fusion8 under the West Berkshire Solar Together scheme. Every part of the process has gone smoothly and Fusion8’s staff and contractors were friendly, knowledgeable and professional throughout. The system was installed last week on the agreed date and so far is performing ahead of expectations.

You will not get an accurate idea of the total cost until you have paid the refundable £150 deposit and completed the (online remote) design consultation, but I was impressed with that part of Fusion8’s process. Their consultant explained the options clearly and their quotation system makes it very straightforward to configure the design, play with the price / performance trade-offs and get a realistic estimate of likely reductions in electricity bills. All this based on post-code and a Google Earth view of your roof!

Fusion8 do caution that the quote is not final until confirmed by the on-site inspection. In the event there was a minor adjustment to the quoted price following the site visit (for clay tile protectors), but that seemed reasonable and would not have been apparent without an close up inspection of the old roof tiles.

The installation process itself went without a hitch, and the 9-panel system was fully operational by 3pm following an 8am start. The installation team were polite, professional and helpful.

Based on my experience so far I would not hesitate in recommending Fusion8 as a Solar System designer and installer.
