Decent, honest and quality

Okay, here's the thing, I never read reviews! These days you can't trust that they haven't been generated by some AI thingy or in a Far East chatbot store. So, please understand that I am a genuine customer who has used this company and this review is a true reflection of my experience.

Gary, who is the company, is a very nice, very professional bloke. Okay, he's a Geordie but someone had to be!

He actually saved me a *lot* of money! I wanted to replace rotten wooden garage doors that never fitted properly from the day the house was built. I wanted an electric roller door. Sounds sensible, yes?

Well, the garage is integral to the house and adjoins the kitchen which is also my home office. When Gary came out to double check the measurements I'd provided he pointed out that the roller door wouldn't be as soundproof as the rotten timber doors. In fact he said the wind and rain would be transmitted by the door. Ah, that's not good. So I asked him, as the expert, to suggest an alternative. I knew Gary was a keen motorbike enthusiast so I put him on the spot and asked him what type of garage door he used to protect his expensive bike?

And that's why, well before the estimated delivery date, Gary and his colleague arrived and fitted an electric sectional door in the colour we'd chosen. It was actually the first time he'd installed a door in this colour and he was impressed with how it looked. Everyone who has seen it loves the appearance and the huge difference it's made to the house.

The fitting itself was easy. Well, I say easy but like most people we can't fit a modern car in such a narrow garage and due to other work in the house, the garage was, er, full! The problem was that we needed to clear the garage to a depth of two metres. We did it. Just! And Gary was amazing at being able to work around the flaws he found from the original builder's mistakes! Thanks Gary!

We also opted for the Bluetooth/WiFi module. It allows you to operate the door without a fob simply by using a secure app on your phone. WOW! I'm not usually a fan of technology but this is fantastic! And best of all? It can be linked to a basic CCTV camera in the garage so the minute the door starts opening it records video and sound. You can even get the app to stream the image! It's impressive and very reassuring when away from home.

Have we had any issues with the door or the opening system? No. Not a single issue.

I've waited until the Cumbrian winter has done it's worst before leaving the review. I wanted to be certain that the door could withstand the gales, torrential rain (top tip here: always add the optional rubber sealing ramp at the bottom of the door!), the snow and in particular, the freezing temperatures we get here. We're not far from Shap, which this winter held the record for the coldest place in England. I know, I've been there and it's always cold! Our temperature plummeted to a rather chilly minus 11.8 degrees Centigrade (-11.8'C) and the door functioned perfectly.

By the way, Gary and his colleague worked quietly and quickly when fitting the door. I was amazed when after three hours he told me the door was installed! That included removing the rotten doors, the old frame, installing the massive Meccano style frame inside the garage and fitting finishers on the "reveals" (the inner aspect of the opening) with uPVC.

The door has been admired by everyone who has seen it and is nearly silent in operation. It is also very well insulated. Our house is now warmer, thanks to one garage door!

I do have one small tip though. If you go for the fob opener, you need to be aware that they are expensive if you need to replace them via the company who supply Gary. However, with a wee bit of help from a well known Chinese "express" store, I discovered I could get spare fobs from the factory for £5. And that includes delivery! And yes, they work! Synchronisation is easy!

I have already recommended Gary to everyone who has asked and I hope he gets more business from this installation.

I cannot recommend Gary and GDS Cumbria highly enough. And I really am a genuine customer who had to use real cash money for the door!

You can trust me, I'm a doctor..... But you know what I mean!
