We have used this company twice
We have used this company twice. The first time, I gave them a 5-star review. But this time, the experience was very disappointing. And it also opened my eyes about working conditions for those people, what I didn’t realize the first time to be honest.
To start with, the communication with the company GEG was very poorly.
I was told by some employees that they don’t work on weekends or that it was “too late” to pick up the phone. (Sorry that our move happened to fall on a weekend, but these things happen.)
As a result, I had to communicate with someone who didn’t speak any English at all, which led to constant misunderstandings.
The mover who came to pick up our items also didn’t speak English. He didn’t know that he was supposed to dismantle a children’s bunk bed and wasn’t happy about it, even though it was clearly stated in our contract. He was in a bad mood and seemed extremely exhausted.
Even though I had suggested spreading the move over a couple of days to reduce stress, the company decided he had to:
1. Load everything in France,
2. Drive to Barcelona (avoiding highways to save money, which took much longer- and I honestly wonder where these poor employees are supposed to use the bathroom),
3. Load everything in Barcelona.
All on the same day. Alone.
My husband and I helped him, moving our fridge, furniture and boxes from 8 pm until 1 a.m. Then he drove off, and I have no idea where this poor man slept, as he didn’t have a bed in his van.
The next day (Sunday), he had to drive 12 hours all the way to Tarifa and deliver at 7 a.m. Monday morning. (Again, we told the company there was no rush for the delivery.)
Upon arrival, the mover demanded the remaining payment in cash. I had already agreed with the company to do a bank transfer (which already has happened) and so he refused to offload our items until his other boss confirmed the receipt of the money.
The boss of GEG International Movers was still on holiday. We tried calling him at least 10 times. Since he is the only one to approve payments, we had to wait. (Then my partner and the guy agreed to start offloading half of the items to not keep blocking the street until the boss got back to us).
His excuse was “bad internet,” which frankly is not good enough. If you don’t delegate responsibility to another employee while you’re on holiday, you need to be reachable on delivery day- even when on holiday.
What bothered me most, though, were the working conditions for these employees. Honestly, if I were treated like this- driving endless kilometers without toll roads, not sleeping properly, working completely alone, and under so much pressure, driving long hours… this is unacceptable and dangerous.
Yes, this company is cheap and offers much lower prices than others, but maybe we should think about what we are supporting here and how much these workers (who do the hardest part of the job) are actually being paid and how they are treated…

We moved from England to Lithuania with this company about a month ago, everything went very well. They informed us closer to the move when exactly driver is coming, and also let us know about an hour before when he will be at the final destination. Unfortunately I am unablr to respond to the businesses response on here so here gors my response to Mantas comments to my review:
Thank you for your reply, but I must strongly disagree with several of your claims.
First and foremost, no clear agreement was made for a single driver or “a few boxes.” My booking through AnyVan specifically included two movers and a packing service, which your company acknowledged in writing. The fact that only one person showed up, unprepared and without any packing materials, is not a miscommunication on my part—it is a failure in service delivery. Scrambling to assemble a team and buy materials on the day of the move is not the same as delivering what was agreed upon.
As for the additional charges: yes, I understand that extra items and materials can lead to higher costs. However, these were not communicated transparently until after the van had already left—leaving me in a position with no choice but to pay or risk my items being withheld. To then retroactively argue that it was never a dedicated service, after explicitly stating that it would likely be one, feels disingenuous at best.
Your claim that “communication was maintained at every stage” is simply not true. I had to chase updates, leave voicemails, and even resort to messaging a second number I found online to get any sort of meaningful response. For most of the journey—especially when my belongings were inexplicably rerouted through France—there was total radio silence. If this was you “personally staying in contact,” then I must question what standard you are holding yourselves to.
Finally, while I am relieved that my belongings arrived largely intact, the level of stress, uncertainty, and lack of professionalism throughout this move was deeply disappointing. It’s not enough to simply get items from point A to B—how you handle your customers during that process matters just as much.
I sincerely hope GEG reflects on this experience and improves its communication and accountability moving forward.
