Generac Corporation FAILED

I emailed the company to get a local service store to do warranty work on my Generac pressure washer. After 8 trips to stores that GENERAC recommend in writing to me, none service Generac pressure washers.

Now customer service won't communicate with me because I asked if Generac Corporation was in bankruptcy.

Terrible customer service department. Terrible company to deal with after the sale.

Now I truly understand what my business management instructor meant with the phrase "Buyer Beware".

Model No G0072090

Model No, G0072090, Hurricane Beryl hit and we were prepared for it with our new Generac, we thought, after 2 hours it went out, Code 1902, emailed immediately and called, still calling and always the same 2- 4 weeks out, rotary brushes going out everywhere on these models, 48 in my county of Brazoria, the distributor tries but was given a lemon obviously, Generac won't respond with any dates, this is the worse decision I've made in a long time, $14k down the drain on a lemon. No way I would have ever purchased if I knew then what I know now. They aren't standing behind their product like they claim, or the urgency of our needs do not matter, they should just replace them all or refund the amount.

Bought a 22 kw generator 4 years ago and it failed us when we needed it most

Bought a 22 kw generator 4 years ago and have always done service on this unit, 3 hours into Hurricane Beryl it stopped producing, I received error code 1902, tech came out and said it was a known defect, rotor issue and it would be 6 weeks before the parts would arrive, I didn’t have any other backup, as I should have been able to depend on this unit to protect our home during these power outages.
2 freezers and refrigerators full of food lost, had to spend thousands of dollars on hotels if you could find one.
Very disappointed with Generac as it let us down.
Now my concern is will it fail again after repair
We bought this unit from GENERAC Super Center in Tomball Texas

Generac is Crap

My Generac hasn't worked properly since January (nearly 8 months) and not at all in the past month. It is only 2 1/2 years old under a 10 year warranty. Generac is unresponsive and does the least it can do which means the unit does not stay fixed or they do nothing at all. Can't get a human to answer the phone or return a call.

OakElectric/Generac Guardian 18K

OakElectric/Generac Guardian 18K. Have had for one year. Installation was painless. Did have to upgrade gas regulator. Weekly cycling/monitoring checks have been satisfactory. I have only had one outage of 90” which was handled well. I am participating in VPP Program. I have only the most general idea of what that is. The WiFi monitoring feature does require some knowledge of router placement and signal strength. Product support has been good so far.

Engine took terminal dump 12 hours…

Engine took terminal dump 12 hours before Hurricane Beryl hit with only 3 hours running time on it. Was out of warranty from a calendar standpoint, but 3 hours? Really?! They basically said to F.O.A.D. And I had bought (2) 17500E's at $3000+ each +$1000+ electrical work. They also never even called. 4 different people sent 3 sentence emails saying too bad-so sad. I cannot say enough derogatory things about this company. They suck! Goodbye Generac, Hello Honda

Hurricane Berryl is passed no power with GENERAC

After spending 27K total for system , and when power went off , this peace of crap never start producing electricity. It just give us error cod . It took 2 hours to contact 1-800 customer service and it was good for nothing . This Generator still under warranty and at the most critical time fail. Thanks god we kept old generator KOHLER without running a/c . The generator got fixed by TexasStarPower in 24 hours and power come back as soon as repair was done . I regret about the purchase this GENERAC .

WIFI is Crap

Generator works great and my certified installer was fantastic! But don't waste your money on the WIFI upgrade. The WIFI module did not work from day one. When you call for support, they try to get you to upgrade to cellular module (and a few hundred dollars more) . You can't monitor the generator with the Mobile Link app if the WIFI doesn't work. Now they want my dealer to come out and look at the WIFI module to submit a claim. If the claim is denied I pay out of pocket for the service call. Generac couldn’t even ship the WIFI module with the unit when it was purchased new, and I had to install it myself. After spending so much money on the generator (16K), you'd think the WIFI hook up would be simple and work. Total disappointment with teh monitoring aspect of the generator.ad to install it myself. After spending so much on the generator, you'd think the WIFI hook up would be simple and work.

A simply awful company

A simply awful company. Deceitful beyond the pale, crappy product, I literally could take a Generac generator if it was given to me. Have you noticed how much they spend on tv ads? It’s because they can’t count on word of mouth advertisements. I warn you not to do business with these crooks. They will sell you a piece of junk, and then leave you in the blink of an eye. Run away from this company. And do it now.

The solar system installed with Generac…

The solar system installed with Generac power equipment has malfunctioned for the last two years during that time numerous phone calls have been made with reference to getting the system to function properly and everyone points the finger at everyone else. Finally, the system had an electrical fire while attached to my home and Generac has refused to acknowledge their role in getting this corrected Requested come get your equipment. I am 75 years old. I do not have time for this and I have medical issues that preclude my getting involved in this situation without getting financial resolution and removal of your equipment response. Nothing no response.

I was "in the business" for over 30…

I was "in the business" for over 30 years, selling & maintaining standby generator sets. You should know, there is NO WORSE experience than sitting in the dark during a power outage, especially an extended outage, after having spent $4,000-$5,000 on a cheap generator.
Spend the extra $1,500-$2,500 and buy one from Kohler or better yet Onan. These are quality brands trusted by Fire Departments, health care facilities, police stations...and...they come with the service support trusted by the various customers mentioned above. When you need it the most, the generator you put in is the LAST thing you want to cheap out on...trust me !

I cannot even give them 1 star

I cannot even give them 1 star. WE were promised the world before and during installation, last June. Now in March, the generator failed during a power outage. Everyone else had power in 3 hrs, I did not for 2 days because of an issue with the generator. THERE IS NO ONE TO SPEAK TO ON THE PHONE. You must fill out a service ticket and they may come by in the next 3 days! Furthermore, they show up, ordered parts and never updated or told me anything. Almost a week later and no communication whatsoever. If we wanted emergency service it would cost almost $300.00 They dont belong to BBB. Stay away from this company and use a reputable installer. Please check all reviews before living thru my nightmare.

Gene didn't operate properly from new

Gene didn't operate properly from new. Called local agent in Barbados, he wouldn't even come to look at it. Generac USA didn't reply to emails. Shockingly poor service and warranty means nothing to this outfit.

Installation Over a year ago

Over a year ago, I had a Generac whole house generator installed. The installation was timely. During the second complimentary service, the technician noticed that the concrete pad was damaged. He placed a noticed in his summary report. The pad was replaced the next day. Customer service really stepped up and the system has been functioning as expected. I recommended the system to my son who also had a system installed.

generac is junk

Whole house system installed in December 2023. IT WAS SHIPPED DEFECTIVE AND THEY WILL NOT WILL REPLACE. Please don't buy!!! This system starts but doesn't stay running. When I called Generac and told them that it was defective from factory and this was determined by electrician that installed it they said i was going through the right channels and there was nothing they could do to help. Thanks a lot for nothing. Waiting for part. Asked electrical company that installed to pick up and replace with a good quality generator and they said they only sell generac and can't return because of time frame even though shipped defective and never worked. Perhaps there needs to be a class action lawsuit against generac concerning this matter of selling defective equipment .

Generac is not to be trusted!

One year old Generac 22Kw Guardian and its' been down 3 times already. Paid almost $20K and now dealer wants to charge a $179 service fee. Generac will not stand behind their product and simply refers me to another dealer(s). And I was promised an extended 7 year warranty which I took to be = 12 years. Shame on me -very clever advertising and wording. Don't trust Generac or their dealers!

Everything that was promisd by Howell was delivered on time with no changes in cost or installation. All of the employees dealing with us were courteous, honest and we could not be any more pleased with our Generac or Howell Electric. They gave us great confidence knowing that everything was done right.
