Avoid and use an alternative provider

My experience with Eurowings has been nothing short of dreadful (if I could award 0 stars I would).

The flight cancellation was entirely due to Eurowings, yet the handling of the situation afterwards was unacceptable. Not only have I still not received the refund I am owed, but my numerous attempts to contact customer services have been met with little to no response.

What made matters even worse was that the cancellation left me unable to reach my destination at all. The alternative return flight options offered were effectively impossible, as I couldn't even get out to my intended location in the first place. I was left stranded, out of pocket, and completely unsupported.

Delays and disruptions can happen with any airline, but the true test of customer service is how a company responds when things go wrong. In this case, Eurowings failed on every level: poor communication, no meaningful updates, and no refund despite the cancellation being their responsibility.

I would strongly advise anyone considering Eurowings to think twice. Based on my experience, once they have your money, getting a response or resolution appears to be extremely difficult.

Absolutely terrible experience with…

Absolutely terrible experience with Eurowings. I do not recommend this airline to anyone.

I flew from Gothenburg to Düsseldorf in August with a small underseat bag that was actually smaller than the permitted dimensions of 40 × 30 × 25 cm. Despite this, Eurowings staff charged me €60 simply because my bag was hard-shell rather than soft-sided.

They did not measure it. They did not weigh it. The bag weighed approximately 3 kg and fitted perfectly under the seat in front of me.

When I complained to Eurowings, they insisted that my bag did not meet their requirements. However, when I repeatedly asked them exactly which requirement it had failed to meet, they could not give me a clear answer.

Their baggage policy specifies dimensions and that the bag must fit under the seat. It says absolutely nothing about requiring a soft-sided bag instead of a hard-shell one. I even provided photographic evidence showing my bag fitting perfectly under the seat.

Despite all this, Eurowings refused to refund my money.

This is nothing short of daylight robbery. Charging passengers €60 without properly checking whether their luggage actually violates the published rules is unacceptable. If Eurowings wants to prohibit hard-shell bags, they should clearly state that in their baggage policy instead of making up rules at the check-in counter.

A disgraceful way to treat customers. Avoid this airline.

£841 for a return journey

£841 for a return journey. Extremely disappointed.

My experience booking Eurowings flights through Trip.com has been expensive, frustrating and deeply disappointing.

I searched Google for flights from London to Stuttgart, departing on 26 October and returning on 28 October. I selected Trip.com and proceeded through the booking process, including the various extras offered, paying £294.

As the payment went through, I noticed the booking showed November instead of October. Somewhere between the search and checkout, the dates had changed. I cannot confirm how this happened, but I immediately tried to cancel. Despite acting straight away, the tickets were issued and the only cancellation option offered would have left me with no refund.

I accept that restrictive fares come with conditions. However, losing the entire £294 after immediately flagging a booking mistake felt completely unreasonable.

I still needed to travel, so I booked the correct Eurowings flights through Trip.com for another £337.

Then a family emergency meant I needed to return on 27 October instead of 28 October. I contacted Trip.com to request a change, but was told this could not be accommodated. With no workable alternative offered, I had to purchase another Eurowings flight for a further £210.

That brought my total spending to £841 for what should have been a straightforward return journey.

My dealings were through Trip.com, so I cannot say which decisions came from the agent and which came from Eurowings. What I can say is that, as the customer, I was left paying repeatedly, with no meaningful flexibility when I needed help.

This experience has destroyed my confidence in both companies. I feel badly let down, and I would neither choose Eurowings again nor recommend them.

BEWARE THE COLOGNE/BONN GATE D70 CABIN BAGGAGE TROLL

Eurowings (Lufthansa's Budget Carrier) charged me €60 on my return flight to Edinburgh because they stated that my carry on cabin bag has suddenly grown in size during my stay in Cologne. On my flight to Cologne this bag which meets their requirements (40 x 30 x 25 cm) I was allowed on with my cabin bag with no charge. Despite my protest at gate D70 stating this bag is exact same size and weight, I was told if I wanted to board flight Cologne to Edinburgh I would have to pay €60. Now disputing case and providing evidence that bag had not increased in mass, now I am being I was being charged due to the cabin bag's weight. This is despite the fact that my bag was not weighed and could be easily carried. This airline is incentivizing staff to levy these charges on randomly selected passengers. However, one positive is I now have a hobby in quoting rules and regulations in my atrocious German to Eurowings customer contact centre staff. And I though KLM were bad !

La lucha continúa, camarades !!!!

Terrible customer service IF you can get past AI gates

multiple charges on my card due to a “system failure” in their app during a booking process, “customer service” insists they didn’t charge me, my bank account shows the charges. So far so good, things like this happen, but then trying to resolve it with the service is where things really go downhill. From aggressive service staff to AI generated e-mail responses that masquerade as human effort while ignoring the issue at hand, there’s absolutely no one and no way to get this company to support its customers.

Absolutely zero customer service

Absolutely zero customer service. Rude and completely useless. Fighting through an AI agent to get to an actual "human" is not worth the trouble. At least the AI agent has a pleasant voice when telling you to go F yourself. Part of the Lufthansa group in name only.

**Terrible customer service and a…

**Terrible customer service and a broken online check-in system**

Absolutely appalling experience with Eurowings. Their online check-in system consistently fails to work, yet instead of fixing what appears to be a recurring technical problem, they force passengers to arrive at the airport two hours early and queue at the check-in desk just to obtain a boarding pass — even when travelling with hand luggage only.

The customer service is even worse. When I called for assistance, the representative was incredibly rude, repeatedly interrupted me, refused to let me explain the problem and simply kept saying there was nothing they could do. To make matters worse, they claimed that Eurowings had never received any complaints about this issue before, before abruptly hanging up on me.

I called again, and a different Eurowings representative openly acknowledged that this is a known technical problem and that they have received numerous complaints from other passengers experiencing exactly the same issue.

So not only does Eurowings apparently have a recurring problem with its online check-in system, but its customer service representatives provide contradictory information, dismiss legitimate complaints and hang up on paying customers.

**Why should passengers waste two hours at the airport because an airline cannot provide a functioning online check-in service?** And why should customers be treated with such disrespect when they call for help?

This is an unacceptable level of service for an airline operating in 2026. No accountability, no meaningful assistance, no respect for customers' time and absolutely disgraceful customer service.

**Avoid Eurowings if you value your time, your money and being treated with basic courtesy.**

Disappointing Experience

Disappointing Experience – 12-Hour Delay and Rejected Compensation

I had a very disappointing experience with Eurowings following a flight disruption on 26 July 2026.

My journey from Prishtina to Copenhagen via Düsseldorf was delayed by approximately 12 hours, leaving me stranded in Düsseldorf overnight. During this time, two Eurowings employees at Düsseldorf Airport explicitly assured me that I was entitled to compensation under EU passenger rights regulations.

However, after submitting my compensation claim and waiting more than two months for a response, Eurowings rejected it, citing extraordinary circumstances caused by air traffic control restrictions.

What frustrates me most is the lack of transparency. Eurowings provided no specific evidence or documentation supporting their claim of extraordinary circumstances, despite the airline bearing the burden of proof under EU Regulation 261/2004.

On top of this, I incurred additional train expenses just to get home due to the significant delay. Despite already submitting the receipt, Eurowings has not reimbursed this expense either, as of today.

Being assured by two employees that I was entitled to compensation, only to have my claim rejected months later without any supporting evidence, is extremely disappointing. Especially when they claim the compensation should be automatic and handled within 48 hours.

Stay away.

⭐ Very poor communication and customer service

My flight from Manchester to Düsseldorf was scheduled for 19:55 but did not depart until 22:05. Instead of arriving at Düsseldorf, we landed in Cologne.

When we asked the staff why we had arrived in the wrong city, they were not helpful and did not properly explain the situation or guide us on what to do next. Eurowings staff were also unhelpful, and we had to search for information ourselves until we discovered that a bus was available to take us from Cologne to Düsseldorf.

This was a very frustrating experience. Passengers deserve clear communication, proper guidance and respectful customer service, especially when their destination changes unexpectedly.

I am very disappointed with the way this situation was handled by Eurowings.

The communication is really bad

The communication of the customer support is not good. I understand shit happens, but when i call to the support contact I would expect at least some level of understanding or willingness to help. I had around 3+ calls just to solve one issue with the tickets, and only one person was actually helpful.. only if there was more people that could help.

The worst part is the issue was not on my side at all.

The only reason for positive points is that I did fly with them before with no problems.

Does not even deserve 1 star

If you have already booked, pray that your flight doesn't have any delays or cancellations or issues!! If you are wanting to save a bit of money and are comparing it to other airlines right now, BOOK THE OTHER AIRLINE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE ALL MADE. No replies to any emails. No UK number. Downloaded Viber and paid to call their German line to get the situation resolved. Was a complete waste of time. My issue was that I had dealt with a fraudulent tour operator who booked my one way flight (took the rest of my money for the holiday and only gave this one way flight) Obviously Eurowings have no responsibility for the scammer so I did not ask for refund but when I asked to transfer all the details to me so the scammer could not access the flight, they said they could not do this. I then requested a name change so I could resell the flight but they wanted 70 euros for the name change and ALSO the flight price difference paid as well even though I bought it at the earlier price of £365? It was £600 extra in total so this was not a feasible nor acceptable. I then asked could they issue a flight voucher and they said no. I then asked if the flight could be rescheduled and they said this was the only flight from Manchester to Jeddah for the whole of 2026 and 2027 so it could not even be rescheduled. So I proposed that the departure airport to be changed as they had available flights from London. Also can't be done apparently. I was suggesting every solution and just got the same response: it cannot be done. Never dealt with more unhelpful customer service in my life. Genuinely don't know how they are still going. Hopefully they go under so no one else has to deal with them. Basically lost the £365 flight and days of my time. Even if I get lucky and they choose to cancel, the refund will go to the scammer as they have refused to transfer details to me, the passenger and the person who paid.

A nightmare experience

I had the misfortune of flying with Eurowings on September 10, 2026, on the Rome-Stuttgart route (flight 2887). The plane departed Rome three hours late due to bad weather; about half an hour before landing, the pilot announced—exclusively in German, since Germans apparently can't speak English—that the plane would be landing in Frankfurt instead of Stuttgart. There had been no prior warning before leaving Rome, as Stuttgart airport evidently closes after midnight (Germans aren't exactly keen on working at night). Upon landing at 2:00 AM, I found myself in Frankfurt completely unaware of the situation; the airline had arranged no assistance there because it was the middle of the night and Eurowings has no staff on site, leaving me totally stranded without any information or a replacement bus or train to take me to Stuttgart. I filed a claim for compensation but haven't heard anything yet; Eurowings is incapable of even responding to compensation claims. In any case, we will see each other in court soon, and my advice to all travelers is never to fly with this terrible airline.
