it is good but not great.

To be efficient,I want to be able to review a multipage document and send certain facts to fact box from any page within that document. It is essential that, when I later look up the source of the fact, I be able to click and get back to the page from which it came. It is very frustrating to have take one step to get back to the source document, and then another one within the source to arrive at the page from which the fact was sourced.

Since writing the review above, I have learned that you can actually linked directly from a particular page of the source document if the source document has already been uploaded the Factbox server. I look forward to being able to use this feature.

Liberating software

We are a small, boutique energy and environmental firm, and work all over the country. My firm recently completed a transition to a virtual practice. We no longer maintain a physical office, and all of our data is in the cloud. There was up until recently only one thing keeping us tied to a physical location and server - our case management database. We had used CaseMap for many years, and ultimately switched to the SQL version to facilitate remote access. But the more we worked remotely over the years, the more limited we were because two factors - the need for a physical server and the limitations of a Windows environment. Our firm switched to all Macs several years ago, and we were forced to use virtualization software (Parallels) to run CaseMap. The solution that finally "liberated" us from a physical server, and Windows, is Factbox. It is everything CaseMap is but with the enormous advantage of being SaaS, web-based, and completely integrated with cloud storage solutions like Dropbox. We can now work from anywhere with an internet connection - including on a plane at 38,000 feet. We also use iPads extensively, and Factbox is just as easy to use on a tablet as it is on a desktop. As an added bonus, the technical staff at Factbox is extremely responsive, and has been very helpful in both getting us up to speed (a very shallow learning curve, especially for anyone who is familiar with case/litigation management software), and in responding to and addressing the occasional minor glitch.

Superb product at a very reasonable price. Very highly recommended.

FactBox is the best litigation chronology software available.

I am a trial lawyer who has been handling medical malpractice cases for 42 years. Every case has a chronology, and in medical malpractice cases, these chronologies are the foundation of the case. Every progress note, every medical treatment, is a potential separate fact. For years I would create an outline or chronology of the important facts in my case, but there was no link to the actual medical record. Factbox has created a program that I have always thought was critical for litigation. Now, not only can I create a factual chronology, but I can assign facts to critical issues and filter just for those facts. Even more critical, howerve, is the ability to link, not only the complete medical record to a particular fact, but the specific page from the medical record to the fact. Now, instead of scrolling through hundreds of pages of medical records to see the actual progress note that corresponds to the fact, with one click I can bring it up for review. Brilliant! I have been waiting for a program like this for many years, and I delighted that such a well thought out program has finally been created by developers who know exactly what is the most essential software program for managing the multiple facts associated with a medical malpractice case. Additionally, the support is excellent. The developers really have an interest in helping lawyers be better lawyers using their product. I have written and lectured extensively on the subject of technology in litigation, and state with a certain degree of experience that this is a must have program for litigators.

Excellent, former Casemap User

Much easier than Casemap. The link to pdf and the ability to bookmark to specific pages within the pdfs is incredible.

That it is web based means I can review the Fact Box information, including the uploaded documents, on my Ipad.

Love the product.

Excellent case management tool

Our legal clinic started using FactBox a few months ago for our most complex matters. Most of the clinic staff are law students learning how to practice the law. This software is brilliant at helping them isolate each of the 'facts' of a matter like who said what and when, significant events etc, and then sort that information into useful associations. The software enables students to focus on individual parts of a matter and to find where there are gaps in information. This benefit of the software should not be underestimated, even for experienced lawyers.

As our clinic grows I am certain FactBox will become a staple in our clinic's tool kit.

(And the FactBox team are very friendly, responsive and helpful - what a bonus!)

A litigation fact management app for the rest of us.

FactBox is similar in some respects to on older solution - CaseMap. But it is better in several respects. It is web-based, so it is platform agnostic and accessible regardless of whether you are on a Mac, iPad, PC, whatever. You log in and there it is. Plus, it allows you to upload files directly into the system. This is imho superior to Casemap, which depends on Acrobat linking within your network. The links would often become broken and your work was effectively lost.

FactBox is relatively young product and I look forward to added features as the product matures.

Great tool to work through issues, facts, and evidence in one place.

Factbox has been a great addition to my practice. I helps organize the issues, facts, and evidence in one place compared to multiple files, forms, and databases I was using previously. I don't have any experience with similar types of service so I cannot honestly compare. The software and interface good and improving. Support has been very responsive.

Pleased with Fact Box.

Could have a few more sorting features and could be a little easier to search, but by and large, a very easy way to keep track of everything you need in a file.

Great for non-legal work too

Although FactBox is primarily marketed to lawyers. It is great for non-legal work too. I use it as an artist and professor for keeping track of images, research, to-do lists and to develop ideas for a project. It beats anything else on the market for these combined functions, including BaseCamp, EverNote, Word or Trello. Even if say something like Trello is better at To-Do lists on its own, nothing combines these functions of product development.

Innovative. Exactly what I was looking for.

There is really nothing quite like FactBox. I use it as an essential tool for every project. It is best way out there for capturing ideas and research and molding those ideas into a finished project. It's one of those things where I don't know what I did without it.

Absolutely LOVE FactBox

I utilize FactBox on a daily basis and is so easy to use. It helps organize all of my attorney's cases and facts in once place. I'm able to quickly reference a note regarding a case, attach a document to a specific fact, organize discovery responses and answers and so much more. FactBox has definitely made me a more efficient and effective paralegal.

Useful but not mature

I like where the team at FactBox is going, but they need to workout some workflow and data organization issues.

The main workflow issue is keeping everyone in sync with updates. It is very hard to find out what facts have been entered since a given date.

The organization of uploaded files, vs text is also strange.

I like it, but one annoying thing.

I actually think it is quite useful, but sometimes I enter in a wrong fact and cannot delete the entry.

For example if I enter 2006 Deed of Trust, but it was actually a 2007 Assignment of of Deed of Trust I can edit the content, but the heading still says. I typically just delete the whole thing and retype it, but the empty box stays in the form, which is a little distracting.

Overall it is a very useful, but that is an annoying little kink.

Reply from FactBox

Hi Ryan- You can edit a heading by clicking on it; this makes it an editable field. Also, if you click on a fact in either the Table or Memo view, you'll see the "delete" button to remove the fact entirely. No more empty boxes. You can access Live Chat in the Help area of FactBox. If you have other annoying things that seem like you should be able, just ask!
