I would avoid
I would seriously think twice about buying a Liv/Giant bike after my experience.
My Liv Avail Advanced Pro 1 was three weeks old when the rear derailleur came off while I was riding uphill and changing gear, hitting and damaging the frame. There was no crash or impact beforehand.
I took it back to Giant Crystal Palace on 7 July. Seven weeks later, I still don't have my bike, I've had to constantly chase for updates, and as far as I'm aware nobody from Giant has physically inspected the bike or explained why the derailleur/hanger came off in the first place.
Giant has rejected the warranty claim because they say it isn't a manufacturing defect. I specifically asked the store whether Giant's position therefore means this can happen during normal use while changing gear without being considered a manufacturing defect. I was told yes.
Giant has offered a replacement frame as goodwill. The problem? I've been told the correct frame won't be available until January 2027.
So a £4,000 bike failed after three weeks and the proposed solution could leave me without it for around six months.
The bike failing was bad enough. The communication and handling since have been absolutely appalling.
Deeply disappointed. Brand-new bike arrived unrideable with constant, frustrating drivetrain/pedal noise.
I was so incredibly excited when I discovered the Liv brand. As a rider looking for a premium, female-specific bike, I thought investing in a reputable name like Giant/Liv would guarantee a high-quality, pleasant riding experience that would motivate me to get back into cycling.
Instead, this purchase has been a source of immense frustration. My brand-new Liv Tempt 2 arrived in an unacceptable physical state. From the very beginning, the bike has made constant, severe cranking and grinding noises that ruin the entire ride. Upon closer inspection, the mechanical assembly was completely botched: the chain was incorrectly routed on the wrong side of the rear derailleur metal safety tab, forcing it to scrape constantly across all cogs. Furthermore, the front derailleur alignment is crooked and too low, causing a rapid "clack-clack" thumping noise and vibration right through the pedals under load.
When you buy a premium bike at this price point, you expect a safe, smooth, and functional drivetrain out of the box. Having to immediately diagnose factory assembly errors and source specialized tools just to make a zero-kilometer bike rideable is deeply deceiving. I am incredibly disappointed with Giant/Liv’s quality control and warehouse handling.
Now I am stuck with a very unpleasant bike. I could have bought a cheap local bike instead and saved a lot of money. I bought my bike online in Paraguay. (brand new Liv Tempt 2 - 2022 model). I contacted your local partner, but they can't help. I am unable to bike +50 km through heavy, fast, dangerous traffic with a broken bike, just to go to their shop in the capital of the country.
That is a big financial loss!!!
Genuinely some of the worst most…
Genuinely some of the worst most dismissive customer support going, if you have ANY issue with your bike get ready for a uphill fight filled with canned responses and disinterested staff, even if it's a manufacturing defect they will deflect and ignore email.
Avoid if possible.
Great rentals
We were delighted with the bikes we rented from Giant in Eindhoven. We were attended to rapidly and within 15minutes were exploring the streets of Eindhoven. The bikes were new and we did not experience any problems. We rented 1 e bike and 2 normal town bikes for 1 month. We were successful in negotiating a good deal.
Safety concern , shocking customer support
Just bought my second Giant bike, giant defy pro advanced, so a high end bike . On the second ride out the right hand break dropped down on the handle bar causing and accident . Went back to the bike shop and they said there wasn’t a manufacturer fault and I couldn’t prove prove conclusive that the fault cause the accident. Contacted Giant customer service via email , no reply sent the email to Global , no reply , phoned them up and was assured they would respond , no reply. If you want a safe bike with good customer support don’t go to Giant until they sort out customer services.

Took my bike into tne Southampton store for a gold service - things had been ok up until this point and I was looking for a new bike. When i handed the bike over one of the bolts had come loose on one side of fhe d clamp for the lock. When i got it back the d clamp looked like it had been ripped off. The guy on the desk told me that it was handed in that way despite me pointing it out when i arrived that it needed tighenting up. Thing is that in the condition it was handed back if the d clamp was that badly damaged, on both sides, there would have been nothing to hold the lock on for the 6m journey. Won't use them again.
Visiting from CA
Visiting from CA, rented an e-mountain bike to ride with my son. I am new to mountain bike riding, and the guys at Giant set me up on sweet bike for 3 days. The bike worked great and enabled me to keep up with my son. I had one issue with a charger cable and Ryan was very helpful to get me another one. I will rent from them again next time I am in Whistler..
Parting ways thanks to poor build quality and customer service
I've been riding Mtb's for nearly 30 yrs. The last 20 on Giants. I'm on my 5th Giant mtb - my 4th Reign (I like the geometry) but lately my bromance with giant has faded. The build quality was so bad on the two bikes before this one that I had to strip and rebuild both. But covid was around so I was feeling forgiving (even though my derailleur completely dismantled itself the first ride - just fell apart). Now my current ride, a Reign Advanced Pro 1, has blown a bottom bracket after only a handful of rides. I know it's a SRAM dub, but it's a Giant bike. Took the cranks off and they were massively over-torqued - not likely to be SRAM's fault. Contacted a Giant dealer - who told me to contact Giant USA - who told me I was on my own... This is a $7500 bike. Disappointing. Maybe there is a Slash or Megatower in my future - but it definitely won't be another Giant.

Giant really shines when it comes to customer service! I had a bit of a mishap with my Giant E+1 2023 frame after just a year—it broke. My local shop said they’d probably replace the frame, but what I got was even better: the whole bike was swapped out for the latest model, 2026! I’ve been a loyal Giant owner for the past ten years, and I was really surprised by how quickly and effectively they resolved my issue.

I needed a special size stem for my Specialized CREO. Called Specialized who after taking my enquiry did not even bother to call back. I went into Giant St Albans on the off chance. They looked in their stock, but had nothing. They went on line and found a Giant subsidiary who made the correct stem. Ordered Saturday, in store Wednesday. A shining example of why they are busy and other bike shops are closing down. 1st class
Front brake sounds like a trumpet
Got a Propel but the front brake sounds like a trumpet. NO ITS NOT CONTAMINATION. It’s had 3 new pads, 2 rotors and been on a bedding machine.
I like a lot about the bike itself
I like a lot about the bike itself, but my local ownership experience has been extremely frustrating. Getting the bike properly diagnosed and serviced turned into a long, expensive process across multiple shops, with repeated derailleur adjustments, poor communication, and the actual issue only being identified much later. If local service support matters to you, that’s something I would think carefully about before buying.
Motor died, Giant refused to assist, 1200$ new motor
The motor on my Giant Explore died 3 weeks after the warranty ended. I took it in to the shop where I purchased the bike, they contacted Giant without any luck. Took it to a second Giant dealer, same response. Giant would not assist and furthermore, the motor could not be repaired and would cost $1200 to replace! That is unacceptable for a bike that cost almost 3k to die in just over 2 years.
I reached out to Giant by phone, spoke with a customer service rep who said my concerns would be forwarded and "someone" would contact me. That was a month ago. Left a message on their contact page and have yet to receive any response, good or bad.
Big company, I get it. The failure of my bike is of no importance to them, but that was ALOT of money for me. Once a Giant only fan (all my previous mountain bikes and road bikes since 1998 have been Giants), no longer.

I work for a company in Norwich who take part in the cycle to work scheme about six weeks ago. I found a bike that I wanted to purchase using the scheme. I paid the deposit on the bike to hold it whilst I went on holiday for two weeks, the shop I’ve purchased a bike from was cycle revolution in Norwich which has just recently been taken over by yourselves giant one of your employees in the shop called Dave has been very helpful. Everything has gone through my company has done what they had to do. Cycle to work scheme have done what they have to do but for the past 2 1/2 weeks I have been in limbo because I cannot download my certificate and pick up my bike because giant still hasn’t added on the new shop they have taken over. I have spoken to Dave at head office numerous times to be told the same thing so feeling very disillusioned at the moment as the weather is good. I want to get my bike and I want to start biking to work. It’s now Tuesday morning after the Easter bank holiday and I would like to get my new bike as soon as possible. Please please can you help a very annoyed customer in Norwich?
Don’t buy a Giant e-bike!
Don’t buy a Giant e-bike!! Thank me later.
After a light crash Giant will not replace my Yamaha electric motor for my bike. My bike is still under warranty and Less than 1 year old.
The motor itself was not affected in a very light crash, but the cheap wiring (thin telephone cable wires) apparently caused a surge that Broke the £1000, meant to be a surge protected electrical Yamaha bike motor.
Made in Taiwan is exactly what you get A Cheap, poorly made overpriced bike 1 star bike is what I rate mines (Talon 2 E+)
Avoid this company.
The customers that have giving good company reviews have obviously never had the experience of there Giant e-bike falling on its side on a foot path and it costing them a silly price to get it fixed and Giant refusing to fix it under warranty. For such a big company this is bad business and Giant should be ashamed as other companies offer a much better warranty and support.
I will never buy another new bike from Giant and i highly recommend others follow my advice as I’ve been so dissatisfied with there customer service.
Excellent service
Excellent service. They were very helpful and did not try to oversell. I got exactly what I wanted and they made sure what I wanted was also what I needed.
Amazing service and friendly!
I purchased two Cypress Giant bikes 18…
I purchased two Cypress Giant bikes 18 months ago, my wife and I love the bikes, the problem I experienced was a day ago we were riding and suddenly my front tire exploded apparently the bead webbing separated allowing the tube to explode, these bike’s have maybe 200 miles on them.
I replaced both tires on my bike at the expense of $100. I assume a defective tire.
Hopes that my wife’s tire hold up longer!
Non-existent customer service for known warranty issue
My partner bought a Momentum Transcend +ebike around 12 months ago. The battery started dying very quickly, so we took it to recognised retailer as per the warranty terms. It is clear there is a major fault, as the replacement battery provided had the same issue. But beyond that point, there has been no communication from Giant/Momentum and my partner is riding on an expensive bike that dies every day. Balfes in Streatham have been great, but the customer service from Giant has so so slow. It's been over 4 months. Really hoping this can be resolved soon with either a warranty replacement or refund.
