Giant Bikes are a Giant let-down

Giant Bikes are a Giant let-down
Brought a Giant Roam-E in 2022. Motor is failing. Just out of warranty, and the cause of the motor defect is a known design flaw.

Have to get a new motor, but considering getting a new bike (not from Giant) as I don't throw good money after bad.

I have it an additional star as it was a nice ride, for the little time it lasted

Lifetime warranty is a JOKE. Awful customer service.

The lifetime warranty that they offer on frames is a joke.
My carbon frame cracked around the rivet location fixing the front derailleur. This was just two years after purchasing the bike. Giant have blamed me for the fault as It was not serviced by an authorised giant dealer. However, one store said this fixing would not have been checked during a basic service as it is hidden behind the derailleur.
I will never be buying a Giant product again. The customer service has been the worst I have ever experienced.

giant does not honor warranty internationally

I purchased a giant advanced 2 gravel bike when i was living in italy last year, August 16, 2023. I then moved to Abu Dhabi in April 2024. In early September this year my d-fuse SLR seat post broke whilst I was riding it in Abu Dhabi (13months of use). I contacted the local giant dealer in Abu Dhabi, beyond the bike and it took them several weeks to get the post and i sent pictures per their request and then when it arrived they said they would not honor the two year warranty on giant components and said I would have to work with the Italian dealer I purchased it from. Unfortunately when I contacted the italian store, they said they could help but would not be able to cover shipping. I think this is all really crummy service and I am deeply disappointed! My peers with colnago, trek, and others do not have this problem. They have in fact brought them over from Europe, and had to have one repainted under warranty when the paint started cracking.
Now I’m worried about other aspects of this bike. I expect this will be my last Giant.

I want to shoutout Giant bicycle…

I want to shoutout Giant bicycle company for my recent experience. I bought an Escape bicycle, which was an awesome bike for over six years, but recently found out I had cracked the frame. When I reached out, Giant sent a brand new bicycle of slightly higher quality to my local bike shop for free, and even paid the bike shop to assemble it for me.

Bad Customer Service Experience

Hey all, I just wanted to make you aware to my experience with Giant warranty and Rider support recently.

I just purchased a brand new TCX frame set from a shop and built it up myself.

My first ride I noticed the bearings knocked back and forth in the headset. Regardless of how much preload I put on the top cap. I tested my theory of it being a bad bearing by using the headset bearings from my TCR to see if the problem went away. It immediately fixed it, and I no longer had to crank the preload on the top cap.

The shop I bought if from opened a claim after agreeing with my assessment and having a video call with me inspecting the bike visually. Giant denied the claim because I built the bike myself (Several years experience working in shops, highly competent).

I emailed customer support, explaining this is my fourth new Giant bike, and that it was off putting that they were refusing to warranty a bad bearing in a brand new frame set, that was tested and proven to be out of tolerance. I spoke to a customer support rep who told me to go through a shop, which I had already explained to them that I had. At that point, I realized they valued their ~$10 more than retaining a long time customer.

(This is like a $35 dollar retail item, probably costing them 5-10 dollars wholesale from FSA.)

This is also my FIRST warranty claim with Giant.

I think this will be my last Giant since they are so hell bent on evading a modest warranty claim simply because I built my own frame set (with more care and attention to detail than a shop would have provided).

It should also be noted that the failure could not possibly be attributed to the quality of the assembly. The bearing was simply milled incorrectly.

I like the spec sheet for giants and at face value, they are good proposition. But you should know that, according to the shop I worked with, Giant is "cracking down" on warranty claims. So past examples of great service may be less relevant.

No customer support

12 days after purchase and product has still not arrived. I've contacted them twice without any response. I feel like I've been scammed.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service. You can not get in touch with anyone directly. You can only talk to the local shop. They don't stand behind their warranty. An expensive bike broke after a year but our Walmart cheap bike is still going strong after 6 years. Save your money
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

A+ service

Ordered a bike but unfortunately even though the website said it was available unfortunately it wasn’t. Alex from Giant rang me to explain the situation and to say that he had tracked one down at another shop, and they would deliver it to me free of charge so I didn’t have to travel. The bike arrived today on time and well packed. A+ service. Thank you again Alex for your assistance.

Atrocious customer service.

I paid £2099 for a Giant electric bike (battery assist) in 2022. On May 1 2024 the battery failed. It had completed 2600km (Approx 1600 miles) on pretty steady Lincolnshire roads and hills. My local bike shop tried to order a new battery to be told they don't make them any more and we would have to get a different type of battery that would fit from Japan at a cost of £575. This would not be delivered until September. We both asked for a contribution to costs as this was felt it was not fit for purpose. This was refused outright as 'Giant don't deal with customer's problems for bikes over one year old'. Disgraceful. IThey now ignore all further emails. So far this bike has cost about £1.60 per mile to run should the new battery arrive. Customer service is appalling and PLEASE avoid this company at all costs.

Poor Service ---- (CUSTOMER SUPPORT + DELIVERY)

Poor Service ---- Last week, myself and my partner decided to order a pair of new road bikes. She ordered hers from Decathalon, I ordered mine from GIANT. Whilst she has had a super fast and effective courier service (PANTHER) my bike was not delivered on the proposed delivery date by TNT. This was super frustrating as I waited around all day from the very large 8am - 6pm windown TNT gives itself (PANTHER gave a 2 hour window) just for no bike to arrive.

This morning (Friday), I rang GIANT up at 9am to request support. The lady on the phone identified that the bike had never been collected in the first place and that she would initiate a new collection. To add to my frustrations, the bike could only be delivered after the weekend due to TNT not doing weekends. Her response showed a lack of empathy, being very matter of fact and not taking any responsibility for the situation. Whether the issue is TNT or GIANT, I do not care, as a paying customer of an expensive bike you expect someone who is going to pursue the very best for you. You expect more from a reputable company like GIANT, if the courier is the issue, use a different one.

Don't expect my custom in the future.

They will make it right. .

In the online business communication and customer support are very important.

I bought a Saris bicycle rack from giantbicycles.com and it arrived damaged. I exchanged emails with the manufacturer and giantbicycles.com in an attempt to get it fixed. it was unfixable and I've asked for a replacement.

It took me a couple of days but, they have agreed to send a replacement free of charge.

I got my new bike from this store and…

I went from Amsterdam to Zutpen for my new bike as the model I want only available there. I have called the store in advance to make sure the model is available. On the day arrived the store, the owner showed me a few different models but still I could only take the one I asked as my budget is not too high. Everything went well and he helped me to fix the bike so I can directly ride it back(not to Amsterdam). Was a nice and quick experience.

Giant Control Blast 2 CO2 Inflation Kit…

Giant Control Blast 2 CO2 Inflation Kit left me stranded 15 miles out on a 30-mile bicycle outing. tried both Co2 cartridges, and they would mount to the inflator however the inflator would not inflate the tire (Presta Valve tube), nothing like a fifteen-mile hike in bicycle shoes.

Second cracked frame

Last year my 2021 Giant Contend AR had a crack in the seat tube, frame received a replacement frame. A year later the frame has cracked again on the same tube in the same place. Giant are replacing the frame however I asked them to upgrade to the alloy Revolt frame as its more durable however this was refused which is really poor as the frame clearly has a defect. I see Giant never respond to 1 star reviews so guess I will be without a bike for 3-4 weeks again this time next year.

New Giant Store Tugby

I called in to the new Giant Store at Tugby today and met Ian. I had a problem with my front fork, which he promptly fixed, at no charge. He then took me on a tour of the electric bikes and was really knowledgeable. Delightful to meet people like this, I will keep going back for all sorts of things...and the electric bike!
