Avoid GiffGaff refurbished phones!!!

Absolutely appalling experience with giffgaff. Avoid buying refurbished phones from them.
I ordered an iPhone 15 described as being in “good condition” for £399. What arrived was completely unacceptable. The phone had deep scratches, visible damage all over, and was covered in dirt and what looked like dried food. It was genuinely unhygienic. I reported this within 13 minutes of delivery.
I exercised my right to reject the phone under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, but things only got worse from there.
My return was initially rejected for “damage”, which is shocking given this is the exact condition the phone was sent to me in. A member of their own team later admitted this rejection was wrong and should never have happened.
Since then I’ve had the phone sent back to me, been told to return it again, and now cannot even select a refund through their system, only a replacement which I do not want. I have also spent multiple days chasing this, including during work hours, and have now been ignored when asking for urgent updates.
This has been stressful, time consuming and completely unacceptable from start to finish.
I am still waiting for a full refund, with no response from GiffGaff and have now escalated this through Klarna and formal complaints channels.
Based on this experience, I would not trust giffgaff’s grading or returns process at all.

Had an iPhone 11 which was in excellent condition , always used a case, no scratches whatsoever on the phone or screen. Was quoted £56. After review they offered me £17 as they said the screen display wasn’t in good condition. I know this is absolutely untrue as it was in immaculate condition when I sent it. £17 is better than nothing but quite disappointing that Giffgaff have to be dishonest just to save paying out a few extra pound.

Conditions mean nothing

Paid extra for a 'very good' phone, this, according to their own policy means that the screen should have not scratches and be in 'pristine' condition. this was not the case when I received my phone.

Asking for a replacement was a surprising amount of hassle and agents were useless so I ultimately organised a return so I can buy my phone from someone else.

Offered a much higher number for trade - something like £85 but then they revised it to £9 as they said screen was scratched. When I sent the phone in there were no scratches at all (had used a screen cover) yet when I refused the revised offer and asked for the phone to be retuned the screen had scratches all over it - I looks like it’s been lightly rubbed over with some sort of scratchy paper! Would not use this company ever again and certainly don’t recommend them

Bunch of jobsworth

Bunch of jobsworth.
They keep removing my review I've been locked out of my account I only had 3 days I screenshots all my password and username yet when I put them in it says it's wrong even the phone number doesn't work. I went on Instagram and have to ask wtf they are there for I sent them the photos and they say contact customer service are you serious they never respond giffgaff has fake reviews on trustpilot now too just like lebara because my signal is awful I can't even get one on my 4g phone all day today and I have a stabilizing app showings 0 signal strength and ping failed 7 thousand 800 times in a month yet they say it's fine. We're paying for crap and they don't care they just keep taking your money and gas lighting you saying signal is perfect I've gone ombudsman I've had enough and with my stabilizing app I have evidence of these companies lies I want 5 years of poor service money returned and I've stashed tm2 phones in frustration because I couldn't even ring emergency services it's absolutely appalling.
Why are they even on Instagram just to not help you whatsoever? Jobsworth that's all they are unhelpful Bunch of tards.

DO NOT BUY A REFURBISHED PHONE FROM THIS COMPANY!
I bought a refurbished top grade iPhone 11 for my daughter in November and gave it to her for Christmas. After we set it up we realised the speaker and volume were not working. Sent it back to GiffGaff for repair a week latee and was informed that the fault was not covered by warranty???!!! They then emailed me and requested £369 if I wanted to repair the phone! That's more than I paid for it! Absolutely disgusting company! Now seeking a full refund.

Very bed customer support service

Very bed customer support service. They don’t care about customers. You can wait ages when they fixed. I was them customer, but when I had problems with my SIM card. Better go for Vadafone or Lycamobile

Don't bother with this complete waste…

Don't bother with this complete waste of space. Put ex Giffgaff mobile in for recycle.Royal Mail tracking showed it arrived next day a Tuesday. Waited and checked Giffgaff recycle tracking not showing as received. Online agent eventually confirmed they got it still not updated on tracking page. Eventually got email 2 days later confirming all checks completed sale proceeding. Chased online agent yet again told payment. due on the 13th that's 5. working days after its received absolute joke. All other buyers I have used you got email conformation at every step. Your payment went into your bank the same day as inspection. So I would never use this shower ever again the mobile side is expensive for usage too.
UPDATE 13th and still no payment now been told it can be another 5 days before payment shows up in my account.

No calls, texts, mobile data

Had been a Local customer for over 10 years. The service use to be great. But, no calls, texts do not send and virtualy no mobile data. Contacted support and tried everything thought it was My phone. Got different sim other provider works perfectly. I would never use giffgaff again and wished I had changed when I started getting problems with them years ago. Good referral schemes but, not worth as no service.

SCAM: If I could rate 0 stars then I would!!

If I could rate 0 stars then I would!!

Trading in my 3 year old iPhone 11 which was in immaculate condition, it always had a glass screen protector and a hard backed case. There were no marks at all on this phone. Received a quote for £85 due to the condition of the phone.

I asked giffgaff to send me the pre-paid postage in the post, which was made of a small cardboard cutout and a plastic parcel bag. Packaged the phone within the cardboard inside the parcel bag and shipped it at my local post office.

3 days later I receive a quote of £17 (!!!) for screen burn (!!!), which is not the condition I sent the phone in at all. The iPhone was fully working, fully functional with no issues, and I only traded it in due to needing the newest specs for a new career move. Seems like a scam on giffgaff’s end to con customers and not pay them what they deserve for trading in. Wish I read the reviews beforehand and went elsewhere. £17 and “screen burn” is an insult.

Warranty will not be honoured for internal breakdown due to tiny marks on the screen protector…

I would like to warn others about Giffgaff refusing to honour their warranty on a phone that has stopped working. The issue seems to be that the connection between the screen and the phone mother board has failed. It went blank while it was being used and functioned perfectly up to this point. To find the actual cause of this failure, giffgaff would need to functionally assess the phone, I.E. take it apart to find the problem. Unfortunately Giffgaff refuse to investigate this as they have spotted some very minor marks on the screen protector. I have spoken about these with Samsung who say they are unlikely the cause of the malfunction, however, giffgaff are refusing to repair the phone free of charge as any marks, no matter how minor, in their words, invalidate their warranty. I cannot see how this warranty can be sold as providing ’peace of mind’ and giving the assurance that they shall fix any ‘ internal parts going haywire’, which I believe is the case, when even the slightest mark present on what is after all a secondhand phone is deemed reason for refusing to honour the warranty and charging north of £300 to fix the faulty item.
In short, they will find any excuse not to honour the warranty and to charge the costs back to the unsuspecting customer who believed their blurb on warranty when purchasing the phone. Steer clear unless you’re prepared to pay for any repairs yourself. Unless you carry your phone in cotton wool and bubble wrap rather than using it for its intended purpose it’s unlikely you’ll be covered!

Great service for me

I must admit, I read the reviews on here just after I had sent my phone to Giffgaff recycle and was really nervous as the reviews are horrendous, but I must say the service I received was 5*. I generated a postal note on oct 6th, sent it on the 7th and by the 11th, I received an email to say the phone was as described and was going to receive the full amount they’d quoted. Checked my bank this morning and they've paid the full amount in. Maybe I’m another lucky one but it was smooth for me.
