Such a shame.
I have put my review on here as it appears since posting one on Facebook, they have removed this review from their page!
It took me a while to decide to write this review and although I feel bad because initially they did accept fault and fixed the first issue, I feel like by my last visit they were all completely fed up with me - imagine how I felt after spending nearly £500 and having sub standard fitting and hair. I also feel like there is key information for others to know based on what I was told by a manager there the last time I visited.
I will try to keep it as brief as possible.
I first visited GW 3 years ago for an LA weave in 20” and it was the best hair I have ever had. As someone who has worn extensions for years and spent so much money on poor quality hair, I was astounded at how good this hair was, it lasted me just under 2 years! I looked after it very well. So when the time came to get new extensions I thought I would go back, this time looking for 24”, so I could trim over time - fully expecting the same longevity out of it. This was obviously more expensive but I was happy to pay. My first appointment was moved, I was asked if I could come in at a different time which was fine.
I later realised this meant my fitting was done by a trainee who had been there 4 weeks at the time. I was not told this. I worked this out because she was very nervous and also placed me behind the main salon wall where no one could watch.
It felt like it was all secure and I left mostly happy - I wasn’t too impressed with how much of the hair I had bought was left on the side and not in my hair though! When I got home (45 minute drive) I looked in the mirror and saw all three rows had been put at the bottom of my head with no hair between. It looked ridiculous. I was going to leave it but I was quite upset about it and my other half insisted after paying that money, I should contact them.
I sent a message to GW explaining. They kindly fit me in for a refit free of charge which I appreciated despite it being another 45 minute drive.
Star sorted out the spaces inbetween and I was happy with the placement.
Another problem when I got home, about a 2 days later the ends of the weaves were coming undone. This is expected when you’ve worn them a few weeks but this was 48 hours. I felt a bit annoyed at this point because I was going to have to go back AGAIN. Ruth was pleasant and agreed to redo the edges for me again free of charge and this time with herself.
I booked my refit while I was in the chair and Ruth said this would be with her in 4 weeks’ time.
After a few weeks I noticed my hair was bunching up and tangling even after just being brushed. This is something that has happened before - but when the hair is quite old so it’s lost some of its coating. Not when it’s less than two months old.
I was going to ask them about this and why it’s happening when I went for my refit. I got a text the day before my appt from Ruth asking if I could come in earlier which was fine so I agreed.
When I got there I was with Star. Not a problem because she’s lovely but this is now the second time Ruth has switched out my appointment to do someone else - after the problems I had I thought she’d want to ensure she did this refit.
Anyway, I decided there and then thay clearly they’re fed up with me - honestly I can understand that but I saved a long time and paid a lot of money for this so I was absolutely gutted. I think anyone would be.
I asked star what she thought about the knotting (she could see how it was tangling and matting so easily) and she called Leah over.
Leah asked me what length I got. I said 24. She said “well that’s why. They always get knotty a lot of people with 24 inch say that to us it’s because where it’s so long and there’s so much of it, it knots easier” - this just pissed me off to be honest.
- If this is a known problem why was I not warned at the time of buying my hair that it is prone to being knotty. At a higher price I would certainly expect to know it wasn’t going to last two months!?!?
She then went on to ask me what I wanted to do. She asked if I wanted star to take it out and Ruth would look at it when she arrived, (I think they meant I had to leave it there..!) or if I wanted star to refit. I wasn’t keen on that, especially as leah quickly told me “we don’t offer refunds unless it’s been within 28 days if it’s faulty. If it’s faulty then you would have known straight away”.
Again. What?
- so because it started matting after 35 days, it’s my fault, not the hair?
I’m assuming Leah had forgotten me and didn’t realise I had been in the salon THREE TIMES within the first two weeks? - I hadn’t mentioned the word refund. I just wanted help. I nearly burst into tears sat in that chair and star felt visibly awkward about it. I felt like I’d just been told off for being upset with my hair. I have cared for it so well as I have before. I use products recommended and purchased by GW. It is not me.
