Global Bike contact and warranty issues 2017/18

Bought a bike from GlobalBike in October 2016.

When I received it the front wheel was significantly dished to one side but no great issue I thought and sorted myself.

Fast forward to September 2017 and the dropper has developed a fault and the stanchion has worn on the shock (the shock wore around March but i've a spare coil shock from another bike that shared the same measurements). Not GlobalBikes fault but warranty issues both so I got in touch to find out how to get them warrantied whilst the warranty was still valid.

I received the details on how to start the warranty procedure in good time and once i'd gathered the required serial numbers forwarded the details back to GlobalBike. It then took 21 days to get a reply at the start of October with the pre-printed forms I needed to send with the warranty claim. With the forms included I sent both items out for warranty.

Again, no responses for another month until November when I chased up again. Despite being told that they would find out and get in touch with me I had no response until I chased up again at the end of November. This time they responded and after speaking to a member of staff in the shop, informed me the dropper was warrantied and would be sent back but SRAM thought that the shock had been opened up already and so wanted to charge £153 for sorting the worn stanchion.

As I had never opened the shock up (what would have been the point, fiddling around inside wouldn't fix the wear on the stanchion and i'd only had it 4 months before it wore so too early to service it!) I suggested i'd like to dispute that and GlobalBike suggested they would speak to SRAM again and see what can be done.

After hearing nothing again (the running theme) I chased up at the end of January. This time the reply suggested SRAM had sent the shock back to them as it wasn't being warrantied and they would get in touch to work out what to do next. The next day I receive another email suggesting that they would just send it back to me.

So almost 5 months after I started the warranty I am now the proud owner of a broken shock that Global Bike refuse to warranty because of an issue that i've not caused. I probably won't be recommending them to anyone in the local clubs!

**15-02-18 Additional after GlobalBike response**
I understand that SRAM refused to warranty the part, I mentioned that above. However I haven't opened the shock up so regardless, I have a shock that was refused warranty for no reason I have caused.
I bought the bike from GlobalBike, not SRAM. The legal warranty duty is with the company I bought the part from (GlobalBike), not the manufacturer of the part.
Finally, the lack of customer service throughout and the time taken to process the warranty claim also contributed to the review.

Not worth the hassle

Unacceptable experience.

Bikes aren’t in stock as specified on the website.
Requested a refund as I didn’t want to wait four weeks for the bike.
Ended up still not having a refund three weeks after it was agreed.

Lots of reasons why things couldn’t/wouldn’t be done. Started to feel like I was being fobbed off.

Edit: February 13th 2018. Still not received the refund despite being told it was processed on January 11th. No apology, no communication without having to chase. Very very poor. Don’t use this bike company.

3 months of lies..

3 months of lies..
I can only say that i'm so disappointed and angry because of them telling lies for over 3 months and i belived them...
When you buy a bike for 1975gbp you expect better service and honesty not lies in different forms..
I Will never recommend this bike shop to anyone.. And i will tell everyone i know and all bike forums i'm active in not to buy from this site!
Don't do my misstake!! read this and buy somewere else!!!!

Mixed feelings

I ordered a 2017 NS Clash Jr frame shown as in stock on Sept 7th. After a week I contacted them to ask where the frame was. They told me it was on its way to them from the distributor. So it wasn't in stock. No prob though, as I needed it for a race my son was doing on Oct 22nd.

Cutting a long story shorter, I chased numerous times and spoke with Global Bike and after two weeks I was told there was a problem with the distributor, Hotlines, and they were now 'sourcing' the frame direct from Poland. More days passed and somehow, the frame apparently got lost in transit. I eventually spoke with Globalbike at length on Oct 11th. I was told the frame MAY still turn up, or the only other option (because this frame was not available anywhere else in the UK) was a 2016 model available on a German dealers website. I had seen this myself online and agreed to go for it as there is only one difference to the geometry.
Again, cutting to the chase, this 2nd frame managed to get lost in transit somehow. I was given tracking information that proved to be for a different item totally. It was all a bit of mess.

Now, I want to give credit to Global Bike because they ordered this 2nd frame at their cost and told me they had actually taken a slight hit to do so. When I could actually get hold of someone to speak to they were always polite and helpful. They also said they would include a free bottom bracket. Great.

But I also had to keep chasing up for information via email text and phone, and very often without reply or someone getting back to me, despite someone assuring me I would receive a call/update that day. I kept an exact log after a certain time as it was getting very frustrating.

I finally received the 2nd frame on Nov 3rd. Nearly two months after ordering the 'in stock' item. But the bottom bracket, which I was told two days previously would be fitted to the frame, was not there. I chased this and was told that they didn't actually have the BB I needed, so were sending one direct from the manufacturer. I was fine with that and waited for it to come. It still hasn't - now 27th Nov. I have sent two emails chasing this BB but no response from Globalbike at all. You pays yer money and takes yer chance...

EDIT. Globalbike just contacted me regarding the bottom bracket after seeing the review. My emails somehow ended up in their spam folder??? Which does explain why they didn't respond. It doesnt explain why the bb never arrived from the manufacturer.
They offered to reimburse me for the bottom bracket I bought in lieu. I declined.

My Recent Experience with Globalbike …

My Recent Experience with Globalbike was superb . I was kept up to date with the delivery progress of the bike and was told the ETA for the bike so I could be around when it was due to be delivered. It arrived perfectly boxed and set up. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was happy with my purchase.

Time and money to waste? Global Bike is the place for you.

I ordered a bike from Global Bike, to be delivered, in plenty of time for an up and coming event that I’d signed up for.
The delivery date came and went and I had not dispatch notice, which I was promised I would receive to enable me to track the bikes delivery process. I called Global Bike and was told “Worst case scenario, it would be delivered on the Friday”. This was 8 days before the event. Friday came and went and nothing. I called again and was told that they would try and get it out on a Saturday delivery for me and would call me back to confirm. No one ever called me back. This was something that became a standard.
On the Saturday, the day after the “Worst case scenario delivery date”, I called to cancel my order. This was because, if it arrived the following week (Monday to Friday) there would be no one home to receive the bike.
I spoke with who I assumed was the owner / manager of Global Bike. He was apologetic and agreed that a refund wouldn’t be a problem. He even offered to bring the bike to me. This was no good as I was away for the week. I accepted the refund and was told it would take 4 to 6 working days.
Now skip forward 40+ days from date of cancellation and still no refund. I have called over 12 times and been told that they were having technical difficulties and that it would be sorted within 24 to 48 hours. Again I would be called back to confirm that the refund had been received. Only once did I get a call back and that was from a female member of staff, telling me that who I assumed was the owner / manager would call me later. He didn’t.
I also sent emails that were never responded to. Maybe they got tied up in the same technical difficulties as the refund. The refund, out of interest was for £1300+ so you may understand my frustrations at not getting it back in a timely manner. A carrier pigeon with a cheque would have been quicker.
In the end I took up the dispute with my bank who then got the refund for me.
Now, I don’t doubt that someone from Global Bike, will respond to this feedback, giving all the excuses known to man as to why the refund wasn’t actioned or blaming the technical issues for the problem and that it was no fault of their own and that they did everything that they could. However, my main grievance is that fact that they lie.
I was lied to about the delivery date, I was constantly lied to when I was told that someone would call me back. It’s just rude and unprofessional to tell someone that you will do something and then not do it.
Credit where its due, during the order process and taking my money, Global Bike couldn’t have been more helpful. Getting the refund and Global Bike were the complete opposite end of the scale.
On a few occasions I was told they would sort out compensation for me, for the inconvenience and the interest charged to my credit card. Another lie.
I would not recommend Global Bike to anyone and will never use them again. I will also tell my large circle of cycling friends to pass on the same to their friends.

Shocking customer service - how hard is it to keep the customer informed?

Ordered a bike frame in September, now Nov and still no frame. Now I get that occasionally bike shops are at the mercy of suppliers; this I can forgive if you are kept informed. However, what is totally unacceptable is repeatedly broken promises and being fobbed off.

I have called six times now and e-mailed once and every time I have been told: I will call you back, I will send you an e-mail with an update, I will send you a tracking number, etc. etc. The e-mail was ignored and not once did anyone called me back or e-mail an update.

I really would advise taking your business elsewhere, because heaven forbid if you have anything complex like a warranty issue.

A bike shop isn't just about good pricing, it's also important that customer service is good, especially when dropping a lot of money on a bike. In this respect, Global is sadly lacking.

Avoid avoid avoid

Lie after lie after lie. Was Told 2x 1000 plus bikes would be delivered with a maximum lead time of 10 days for a website that stated they were in stock. Fair enough 10 days I can cope with but excuses started soon after the 10 day mark. After 8weeks, excuses, not getting back to me and false promises I decided to get a refund. I was gutted as I got a good deal and no other websites had stock of the 2017 discounted radley piglet. I strongly advise if you against using this company. From what I have read they have done similar to other people. Not a way to run a business!!

Helpful and very knowledgeable staff

Helpful and very knowledgeable staff. Have just ordered my 8th bike from them in the past 4 years and have been more than happy with the service every time.
I recently had one of the bikes in for a service and the lads in the workshop noticed some damage to the rear triangle and managed to get a replacement under warranty when the bike was 2.5 years old, such is their relationship with suppliers.

Professional.

Gave me a great deal on a bespoke build, were upfront about the delays to some products which I know was true 'cause I ride with some of the guys from Hotlines the Nukeproof suppliers, up here in Edinburgh, whereas some other shops who quoted me were telling "porkies" just to get the sale. Staff were knowledgeable especially Jamie the head mechanic, obviously knew his stuff about Enduro and DH bikes, and the bike arrived fully built with lots of packaging on in all the right places. Nicely set up and only personal adjustments to do straight out of box. Would defo recommend, great experience. Will use again.
