We came to you on recommendation & chose our vehicle that suited our needs, the staff on the day were polite & helpful. We asked would our vehicle be valeted before collection & we were told yes. As we live in Cornwall we arranged 4 our vehicle to be collected on our behalf. We were very disappointed at the state of it when we saw it. It smelt it was very dirty the seats & belts were mildew & outside was no better. We paid good money cash & we were very surprised that you would allow a vehicle to leave your premises in this state! My son rang up that very day to complain & it was agreed that you would pay for it to be valeted locally for us. Which took one & half days to do when I went today to collect my vehicle from the valater he told me there was vomit in the side of the back passenger door, there was green mould outside the door & window rims, he was also shocked that a garage would send a vehicle out in this state! My son has the receipt of the valeting which he will duly send on to you, so we look forward to payment from you an feedback from this complaint.
Regards
Mrs. Julie Vinnicombe.
Nice people to deal with
Nice people to deal with. Unfortunately vehicle was not roadworthy - should have been better checked prior to delivery. GM were very good about it and I got my money back.
Slick sales, poor customer service
I purchased a drive from wheelchair VW Caravelle 4 years ago. The car is good and the purchase went well. After a few months the electronic parking brake broke. My car was stuck on the drive with the parking brake on. Customer service would not tell me how to release the parking brake, even though I asked them several times. I was unable to use the car for a few days. In the end I had to find out by devious means. I had to pay about £700 to replace the mechanism. I found a local garage to change it. They reported it was a very low quality product. I do not use the parking brake when I drive because it takes 5 seconds to engage and disengage and I do not trust it. I put it on once each time I park at home, then immediately disengage it, leaving the car in park. This helps keep it working for the MOT. I need to change my wheelchair. I was told I would have to take the car and new wheelchair to the factory in Devon, leave it with them for a week and part with £1000. I have had a better offer - 1 day and £500 from a company in the West Midlands.
In August of 2018 we bought 2 minibuses…
In August of 2018 we bought 2 minibuses with wheelchair ramps, to be used as taxis, from GM Coachwork. A number of things were discussed, some were extras we asked for, others were about essential maintenance that needed to be carried out.
We were assured that both vehicles would be fully serviced and inspected prior to delivery. All the extras were carried out to our satisfaction, and we were initially pleased with our purchases.
However, within a few short weeks we had a number of issues with both vehicles.
Firstly, a wheel bearing failed. This wheel bearing had been replaced recently, by a garage that GM used regularly. According to the garage we used to replace this bearing it had not been fitted by a competent mechanic.
Secondly, our other van developed a serious engine problem, we had to have the turbo and the injectors reconditioned. According to the mechanic who rebuilt the engine no servicing or indeed any maintenance of any kind had been carried out on the vehicle for a considerable time. Because of this we decided to have a full service on our other van. Again we were told that this van had not been serviced recently.
Thirdly, despite having a fresh LOLER certificate (carried out by GM) one of the hydrolic ramps failed. We contacted GM and were informed it would take several days to arrange repair. When I pointed out that this was not good enough as both our vehicles were now off the road the receptionist became quite rude. When an engineer finally (5 days later) arrived we were told that the issues should have been picked up during the LOLER test.
To give some credit to GM I would say that they met their obligations as far as warranty and paid all bills promptly, however all of these issues occurred within a few short weeks after purchase and were solely due to lack of proper maintenance and procedure.
Would not recommend.

Helpful and efficient
We have purchased a number of wheelchair accessible vehicles, both minibuses and smaller single wheelchair vehicles, from GM Coachwork and have found them to be very helpful and efficient in all their dealings. The vehicles are of excellent specification and quality of build. We have already recommended a number of other organisation to them who have gone on to repeat purchase.

Friendly and efficient service.
A Very friendly team
A great team - I only wish the van I purchased drove more like a car. My sister has a VW Caravelle that drives beautifully. My Berlingo needs a lot more cajoling into action. Still, it gets me to where I need to be. One day we might have a hybrid WAV to dispense with the need for Diesel fuelled WAVs. Everyone at GM is very friendly.
