Poor Build Quality — Multiple Units Defective
I've now had two GoldenMate battery backup UPS units fail due to what appear to be manufacturing defects, and I can no longer recommend this brand.
The first unit — an 8-outlet UPS — turned out to have its outlets wired with reversed polarity, which is not just a quality issue but a genuine electrical safety hazard. When I reported it, the customer service team initially suggested I fix the incorrectly wired outlets myself in exchange for a measly 15% refund — an absurd and dangerous suggestion. After weeks of back-and-forth emails and having to return the unit, they eventually arranged a full refund via PayPal since their system couldn't process it normally because the order was over 180 days old.
Now I have a second GoldenMate UPS where the back panel is physically coming apart and falling off. These are supposed to be power protection devices — units that you trust to protect sensitive electronics. Consistent build quality issues across multiple products is unacceptable.
The customer service team was responsive, but the product quality simply isn't there. Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere for your UPS needs.
