I filled out all the information on line, and received a phone call regarding my donated car. The transport tow truck driver called, and arrived in 20 minutes. He started our car, and drove it onto his flatbed tow truck, and drove off. Pretty easy.

Auction company picking up car unprofessional/confrontational/extremly rude
The goodwill part was fine but the experience with Capital auto auction DC who picked up the car was extremely rude, unprofessional amd threatening. First we had an appointment for 11-3pm. They call me the night before after 10pm to tell me they would pick the car up at 6am. We'll the title and keys were not in the car and no way I could get there by 6am. They made it seems as if I had caused them a major inconvenience. Called left a message saying this is unacceptable and we need to reschedule. They call me at noon to day someone was now on the way. Then when they got there, the person with the keys had an emergency and had to go to the nursing home for her mother. The truck driver got there and no one or the keys were there. Which I understand was frustrating but we had a family medical emergency. The truck driver called me in a very threatening and aggressive manner saying "I dont care Im taking the car, deal with it you figure it out". My mother eventually got to the truck driver right before he left and apologized but still the driver angry was very rude and unprofessional to her. I understand there were issues on both sides here but the rudeness, mannerism, and unprofessionalalism of the auction company is unacceptable. We will never be donating a car to goodwill again due to the issues we had with the auction company that goodwill chose to pick the car up from.

Hi Matthew, thank you for taking the time to share this, and I'm sorry your pickup experience fell so far short of what we expect for our donors. What you describe, being contacted late at night, then dealing with a driver who was rude and aggressive during what was clearly a stressful family moment, is not acceptable, and it's not a reflection of how we want Goodwill donors to be treated.
After reviewing what happened, we've already implemented a new policy with our towing partners: no donor may be contacted after 8 p.m. under any circumstances.
We've also addressed the driver's conduct that day directly with the towing company and are holding them accountable. How our donors are treated during a pickup matters to us, and we will not tolerate anything less than the respect our donors deserve.

Easy and friendly
The person on the phone was helpful and patient.
The whole process was easy to follow.
The tow company call me on time to schedule the pickup day and time (convenient to me).
The tow truck person called me in advance to let me know when he was going to pickup my car, and he was here on time.
This person also helped me to retrieve my license plates from my car (the screws were very tight) and he spoke in my language which made the process evn easier and friendly.

Good experience but towing communication needs to be improved
The app and customer experience and customer service were all very good. The only thing keeping it from being 5 Stars was the towing company. I was promised to hear from the towing company in one business day, but that didn’t happen. I called Goodwill several times over several days and they couldn’t reach the towing company. It took nearly a week to get my car towed. The towing company guys were nice, but they were from out-of-state and told me they tow cars in my area on Wednesdays. I wish I had l own that upfront.
