I honestly can’t recommend this…

I honestly can’t recommend this family-run garage enough! As a young girl who doesn’t know much about cars, I always find taking my car to a garage quite daunting. You hear so many stories about people being taken advantage of or made to feel silly for not understanding what’s wrong with their car, so I was naturally a bit nervous.

From the moment I walked through the door, Colleen at the front desk made me feel completely at ease. She was so warm, welcoming, and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. She took the time to listen to my concerns, reassured me throughout the whole process, and made what is usually quite a stressful experience feel so much easier.

The rest of the team were just as amazing. They never once made me feel embarrassed for not knowing much about cars. Instead, they explained everything clearly, answered all of my questions with patience, and made sure I understood exactly what needed doing before any work was carried out. I really appreciated how honest and transparent they were—there was no pressure, no upselling, and no feeling that they were trying to take advantage of the fact I wasn’t knowledgeable about cars.

You can really tell this is a family-run business that genuinely cares about its customers. Everyone was professional, kind, and treated me with so much respect. It’s rare these days to find a garage where you feel completely comfortable and know you can trust the advice you’re being given, but that’s exactly how I felt here.

The work was completed quickly, the pricing was fair, and my car is running perfectly again. More importantly, I left feeling confident that I’d found a garage I can rely on for years to come.

A huge thank you to the whole Granville team for making me feel so welcome and looked after. If you’re someone like me who feels a bit nervous about garages or doesn’t know much about cars, I genuinely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place. It’s so refreshing to find honest, trustworthy people who go above and beyond for their customers. I’ll definitely be returning and recommending you to all my friends and family. Five stars all the way!

DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!!

After today’s experience, I have completely lost confidence in Granville Auto Centre.

This review relates to two separate vehicles and multiple visits.

Audi A1 – Poor workmanship

The first issue arose when Granville Auto Centre carried out work on my Audi. After collecting the vehicle, I later discovered it had been returned with engine seals left off during reassembly. I unknowingly drove approximately 80 miles before discovering oil leaking from the engine and the vehicle beginning to develop further issues.

I have photographic evidence of the missing seals, and the garage later accepted responsibility and asked me to return the vehicle to rectify their mistake. Whilst I appreciate they corrected the work without charging additional labour, the vehicle should never have been returned to me in that condition.

Unfortunately, despite giving them another opportunity, things only became worse.

Audi A1 – £571 and the fault still wasn’t fixed

When the Audi later developed a whining noise, I returned it to Granville Auto Centre. I specifically explained that the parts they intended to replace had already been replaced around eight months earlier, yet they insisted those components were the cause and charged me £571.

I collected the vehicle and the original fault was still there almost immediately.

Their solution?

“Drive it for a week and come back if it’s still doing it.”

After charging someone £571, returning a car with the exact same fault and asking them to see whether it improves over the following week is simply unacceptable.

BMW X4 – Entire day wasted

I also took my BMW X4 to Granville Auto Centre after they agreed the previous day to inspect it and provide a report for my finance company.

Instead, they kept the vehicle from 9:00 am until around 4:00 pm, only to tell me exactly what they had already said when I first contacted them—that they could not identify the fault without stripping the vehicle down.

More frustratingly, they refused to provide a written report confirming that position for the finance company and stated they were unwilling to become involved in the dispute.

As a result, my vehicle sat there for an entire working day while other cars were being worked on, I received no meaningful diagnosis, no report, and because they only contacted me at 4 pm on a Friday, I had no realistic opportunity to take the vehicle elsewhere.

When I arrived to collect the BMW, several members of staff gathered around the office area while I spoke with management. Whether intentional or not, it created an unnecessary and uncomfortable atmosphere during what should have been a professional discussion.

Overall, my experience has been:

• A vehicle returned with engine seals missing.
• Oil leaks caused by incomplete reassembly.
• A £571 repair that failed to fix the original fault.
• An entire day wasted with my BMW and no report provided despite agreeing to inspect it for my finance company.
• Poor communication and very little accountability

Colleen especially was extremely condescending, including having her mechanics follow me after they closed.
I had parked my Audi just outside their already closed workshop with the intent of collecting it about an hour later once I dropped my other car off.

However I had to park a few streets away whilst I waited to organise lifts, during this time I had 2 mechanics pull up beside me and attempt a confrontation.
One in a silver BMW X6 and another in an older white estate BMW. The second BMW / mechanic actually followed me around the area for approximately 5-10 mins at 6.15pm

Both of which were the mechanics Colleen had stood by her side like some sort of temu bodyguard’s whilst she awaited my arrival and throughout the consistent excuses and condescending language towards me, my vehicles and my time.

Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how a business responds to them. Unfortunately, after giving Granville Auto Centre multiple opportunities, I have lost all confidence in both their workmanship and their customer service.

I cannot recommend them

Expensive

Expensive, poor workmanship, some things suddenly not working, missing part, said locking wheelnuts on a 42k car were very worn, put ordinary ones on!

Local garage does good!!

In an emergency, when our Honda CRV broke down, this garage, not our regular one, responded swiftly when we asked for a repair. They treated us with sensitivity and huge professionalism. And a very fair price. Thank you.

Bad customer service and unreliable

I had a great experience here in the past, but my recent visit was the complete opposite.
I went in for an oil change and was quoted £1,200 for a leak repair. After arranging the money and booking for the 27th, I received a call from Colleen, who spoke to me in a condescending manner, mentioning how long she had run the business and saying she would not do the job unless I had an additional £400, despite her colleague previously confirming the work could start and any extra costs could be addressed if they arose. I have already spent £2,500 on this car since March, so this change of terms and tone left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this garage for customer service or reliability.

Highly recommended garage

Highly recommended garage, they were very helpful and professional, the receptionists were superb, the work carried out was to a very good standard the mechanics kept me updated throughout the time my Motorhome was with them.

A reliable and helpful local company.

Granville auto repairs are a great local company. I have used them for 8 years for servicing and repairs and their service has been impeccable.

Recently I had to return after new brakes were fitted as the handbrake soon lost effectiveness. Nothing was too much trouble, they tried readjustment whilst I waited and when that didn't work, they booked the car in and stripped and re fitted the handbrake. I realise that it would be better if the handbrake had not needed re fitting / adjustment but these things sometimes require bedding in etc.

They were very pleasant and helpful throughout and once again, I am very pleased with their service.

Ripped us off

Do not use this company. They conned my mum out of a 9 year old car; they told her that it was not fixable and would cost more to repair the engine than the car was worth. They said it needed scrapping and gave her £100 for it. Fast forward to this week; she just saw the car she sold to them to be ‘scrapped’ in the car park to our local supermarket so they have obviously fixed it for cheaper than they said and sold it off to make a profit. Ripped my poor mum off during a time that was already difficult. So upsetting

First Class Service

My wife and I have used Granville Auto Centre for many years for MOT's, Annual Servicing and for repairs and have always found their work and their charges to be the best anywhere. On the single occasion that I found the need to go back to them on an issue they rectified it with bells and whistles on it. This is the measure of a first class organisation.
