Do not shop here

Do not shop here. Inflexible, rude to a long-standing customer. I tried on a pair of shoes I bought online and they didn’t fit. They were on sale so I had no choice but to take them. Rude sales person, raising his voice and insinuating I was stupid to have bought on sale. I will never shop there again.

Excellent customer service

I purposely drove 2 hours to the Toronto store for my first visit to a GravityPope. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it! I had two sales staff helping me in the shoe department (the first one, Ryan, had to go for on his lunch break so Shawn took over). Both of these people were incredibly patient and personable. I'm embarrassed sometimes by my pickiness, but they were both happy to bring out everything I wanted to try. I did buy some shoes and I love them! I also ventured into the women's clothing department and, although I was only browsing, the clothes had me imagining full scenarios on where and when I would wear them. I will be back!

Great customer service

Their support went out of their way to remind me to collect my order after a few months I have ordered it and forgot to pick up. They also offered a store credit in case I am not picking it up, even though it was after 3 months I placed my order.

The gentlemen in their Kitsilano store front was responsive and helpful. I left my phone on their checkout counter after picking up my order, and he rushed out of the busy store to handed me the phone back.

Really above and beyond for both Gravitypope storefront and online support.

Confusing bad service, return policy stinks

Really weird bad service regarding my online order. They say it will take 7 days, I ordered 7 days before I needed the shoes. It’s been 7 days and the shoes appear to have made no progress still. 5 days ago Someone from customer service asked me if I needed them for a specific date, which I do (7 days from when I purchased them) and then said to me it takes 7 days so you won’t have them for the date you need them. I was given no option to cancel or pay extra to have them shipped to me faster or really any solution just a lazy apology so I’m not sure why they asked at all. You would think buying 450$ shoes for an event would be easier? Slow, confusing service that makes me sad and really disappointed. I wouldn’t order from here again, it definitely doesn’t help that their policies are really vague and confusing. Products discounted more than 25% are final sale even if you buy online, they don’t say if you can exchange for another size. If you email for clarification they will answer on a case by case basis but I get the impression the answer is usually no. They currently have a promotion 25% off for insiders and this makes new release shoes ineligible for exchange or refund. It’s a shady and bad policy overall and I can’t think of a single company in the world with a worse return policy.

DO NO SHOP AT GRAVITY POPE

This company has allowed corporate greed to override customer service. I spent of 600.00 on a pair of Moma boots and a wool toque just before like 10 days the site went 20% off and I didn't know there was a sale. I was in the store the staff who knew me didn't even tell me and I had to fight for 2 weeks to get the 20% off my purchase. This ought to have been a pleasant perfunctory transaction. I have NOT made a single purchase there since. I have been a customer since it first opened and at the time I asked for the 20% i had like 9 pieces in my current collection NEVER NEVER NEVER going in there again

Really bad. Couldn’t agree more with the last…

Couldn’t agree more with the last few reviews. Taylor et al have to be the most condescending, disrespectful lot, as far as customer service goes.(tho they have made noticeable improvements to the staff attitude in the Queen store) Tens of thousands spend there and they don’t hide their distaste for you for reaching out. Purchased pants on-line, on sale, that had measurements listed for 2 sizes, but not the size I purchased. I explained that I tried researching the size on line with other shops and clearly got it wrong. They would not offer me a credit. Items purchased at 30% off are considered rubbish to them at that point and will not accept return. (I would have been pleased enough with in-store credit… half my closet is filled with GP purchases!) This was the response to my 30% sale purchase, despite appeal…” item was priced to clear as we cannot have it coming back into inventory as we are trying to make room for our new Spring 2023 items.” So, long time customer, we don’t care that we’ve stuck you with a $200 pair of pants that are much too large to wear. Price to clear?? 30% off is not exactly bargain basement pricing. You business means nothing to them. All things being cyclical, a day will come where respecting your customer base will matter once again, and this place will have to do an overhaul of their business model in order to survive. Until then, give Yorkville shops a chance if you’re in T.O; wonder around, explore - or Ssense for online(they don’t make you feel like you’ve purchased their trash if you bought on sale). Signed with sincerity.

After 10 years of loyalty, fed up with damaged products, I AM DONE!

I have been a loyal Gravity Pope customer for years, going on nearly 10 now. In that time, my experience with the company has truly been a mixed bag in terms of customer service and the quality of merchandise received. Shoes, often very expensive shoes, often arrived damaged, and it's difficult to get earnest help from an understanding representative who gets the disappointment and deals with you fairly. These guys rarely get the amount of time, energy and cost involved in a purchase. My most recent purchase was the breaking point! The last pair of Italian-made $400 fiorentini & baker boots, that I had been coveting for months, arrived with half-a-dozen long and severe creases, indicating a lot of try-ons at the store, and carelessly handled by their staff. No one bothered to address these issues before shipping them to me. When I reached out to customer service, my experience with Taylor was pretty horrendous. He clearly has no training in de-escalation. Despite my attempts to get him to "get it," and work something out with me to get these repaired, I was met with insults and disrespect, before I finally lost it. He then had the gall to chastise me for using the word bullsh*t, though it was well deserved. claiming it as threatening and profanity. I'm not sure what world Taylor is living in, but he has no business being in retail. I have twice now requested a supervisor, and those calls have been ignored. Gravity Pope has lost this customer for good.

bad return policy

Nice products, bad store policies. I want to support bricks and mortar and they have high quality product, but the return policy is terrible. Essentially they don't have one, even if you bring the shoes back a day later in perfect condition, it is only store credit or exchange. Online sites like farfetch, etc. have a more flexible return policy. Now I am so nervous about buying anything there, knowing I'll end up with a store credit if I return. After I (hopefully) use my store credit, I will stick to online shopping mainly for the ability to return for a refund which is too bad, but it is actually very hard to spend store credit there as they run out of sizes, styles, etc. and inventory is not always my taste. I think a change in the return policy would really help customers to 'dive in' to a purchase more often. I don't return much, but having that ability means a lot.

I went to Gravity Pope in Gastown...

I went to Gravity Pope in Gastown to try on and purchase a $640 (+tax) pair of shoes. I tried on a size 43 which was too big. The store assistant told me he would get me a smaller size, a 42. I continued to browse around the store, thinking he was getting me the smaller size. After a few minutes I noticed him behind the counter chatting with another customer. I figured he was going to look for the 42 after chatting, so I remained patient. After he finished chatting I approached the counter. He looked at me blankly as though he had never seen me before. He then said 'sorry I totally blanked out...what was I doing again?...' I said, you were getting me the 42 in the shoe I just tried on. Anyways, I went ahead and purchased the shoes.
When I got home and tried them on with an invisible sock I realized they were slipping badly on the heal. I tried to return them today and was told that they only do store credit. I told them that they should probably make their customers aware of that at the time of purchase and was told it's on the bottom of the receipt. It's a bit late once the receipt is printed, I said. The store assistant agreed...w_t_f??
I will use my credit but I will never shop again in a store that does not provide refunds. As I write this, they essentially have THEIR shoes and MY money!! How is that fair?? Avoid Gravity Pope is my advice.

Hi there John, thanks for the feedback. It's disappointing to hear that your visit was less than stellar, and that our return policy was not clearly communicated at the time of purchase - we will address both issues with our store management immediately. We'd be glad to make an exception to our in-store policy and offer you a full refund back to a credit or debit card, please email customercare@gravitypope.com to coordinate.

I have never spent a penny at this…

I have never spent a penny at this store and will never spend a penny at this store.
I went into their West 4th location with my girlfriend one day and she found a gravity pope style shoe in her size 37. I asked if they had a 38. They advised, they’re not available at their Vancouver location but at our Toronto location which they could have transferred over to Vancouver in 1-1.5 weeks. I requested this to be done and they said they’d give me a call when the shoe arrives. I called after a week inquiring if the they were delivered to the Vancouver location yet. Apparently, their system has incorrectly advised that the shoe I had requested was “available” but it was actually sold out. They did not call me to advise of this.
Next. They had suggested I try size 37, which they could transfer from their Gastown location. I said sure. Let’s give it a try. I called them back and advised instead of transferring them to Gastown I would go to Gastown to try them on myself. I told them to cancel the transfer order request. The clerk told me the transfer request hasn’t been processed yet. I went to the Gastown location and tried the size 37, they didn’t fit as expected.
A couple days later I got a call from their West 4th location that my shoes arrived. I arrived back at the West 4th location thinking that my original sized 38 request was completed (I admit this was my own assumption and probably should’ve called the store in advance to confirm).
I arrived at the West 4th location and they had actually somehow ordered the shoe in a 37 which I didn’t fit. The sales associate then proceeded to advise that I misunderstood them! Rude. I said to them. This pair of shoes must be transferred in from your Gastown location which I had already advised your team to not do as I would go try them on myself at your Gastown location. They completely wasted my time. I cannot believe this is their level of customer service and it’s safe to say I will never give them my business.

Disappointed then relieved

I bought a dress from Gravity Pope that was shipped to me in California. I tried it on and found a rip in the right sleeve. I have been shopping online for 20 years and I have never had a damaged item sent to me so it was a shock. But I wrote their returns department and got a prompt reply and RA number. They also apologized that their warehouse staff overlooked the hole. They also gave me a 25% discount on a future purchase for the inconvenience. So far, I am very pleased with their high level of customer support. I travel to Vancouver frequently and I will continue to shop at Gravity Pope!

Doesn't fit

Doesn't fit. Bought online and they would do anything about it. I ordered 8 pairs of shoes. One didn't fit and they didn't care. Apparently because its 30 percent off they wouldn't fix it. My suggestion is buy stuff you bought before and good luck.

GRAVITY POPE: Great shoes, sloppy and careless service and presentation

Gravity Pope is one of the few go-to stores in Canada for the best shoes. I rely on them to source out the best Italian-made creations, made individually by artisans, and get them to me without hassle.

The prices are not cheap, and unless you spend $300, shipping is expensive at over $20—though, if you're willing to wait for sales, and risk losing your size, bargains can be found over time.

My only criticism, and it is a severe one, is with their shipping team, and it is two-fold:

Firstly, they never pack the shoes well. Ever. You can clearly see the shoes have been tried on repeatedly because no one bothers to re-lace, re-zip, or re-do anything to make a pleasurable presentation to the buyer. Tissue paper is never put back into place, shoe fillers that maintain the integrity of the shoe form are thrown carelessly into the box, and shoes are often shoved into their boxes with no thought or appreciation. I purchased a $560 pair of Moma suede boots last week. When they arrived today, they looked like they had come from a bargain basement store run by teenagers. Seriously, a real mess! It's sad that whoever is in charge of shipping doesn't take more pride in their work on behalf of the company, and appreciate that someone has paid a lot of money for this merchandise.

Secondly, if you do not buy more than one pair at a time, they wrap the shoe box in shipping paper—perhaps to save a shipping box—and tape the paper directly to the box. When you remove the wrapping, the box is severely blemished. Oh, who am I kidding? It's torn apart. So, if you're planning on gifting, better luck next time, because despite having reached out to customer service, you'll get nothing more than an empty apology. No one there does anything to make it right or assure that it won't happen again. And, it does happen again. Often.

So, Gravity Pope is a mixed bag: Great shoes, sloppy service.

wrong shipment, no support...

I’m from Denmark and wanted to order a pair of sandals, but since I’m from Denmark I would like to be sure that I ordered the correct size so I didn’t have to return them. I mailed Gravitypoppe and they helped me with what size I needed (size 38EU), we had a few mails back and forth and it was a good service helping finding the correct size.
I received the package a week after and unfortunately they had send me the wrong size (size 36EU). I then mailed the company again explaining the situation and they asked me to return the package but I could only use Canada post service. Since I’m in Denmark this was very difficult for me - I couldn’t even log in to create an account. This I wrote to Gravitypoppe, and asked for them to create a pick up instead because the fault was on them and this was exact my why I didn’t want to order in the first place. Ever since I asked for this, they have not replied to any of my emails. I want my Monday back, and now I experience that they are running away from the problem since they will not reply to my complain.
I will keep trying to get my money back, and offcause I want to return the sandals. I do NOT understand why they Re making this case more complicated and make me pay for their mistake. I had a good feeling with this company because they helped me order, but when they ignore my complain it shows how the company works.
