Terrible...Visited The Holly Bush in Little Hay…

Visited The Holly Bush in Little Hay near Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield today for lunch.
Terrible, luke warm food, outside area, full of weeds, dried up plants in pots on tables, tables not cleaned, ashtrays full of used cigarette ends and ash.
Third visit in ten months, second poor meal in that time. This place had a makeover, hence the return visit, now as bad as it was before.
We only sat outside as we had our dog with us, but this place is always under staffed and there is no continuity with the food. I don't think its worth trying again to be honest. This is a Chef and Brewer under Green King's banner.
All in all not the lunch time treat we were expecting.

Bear at Berkswell

Bear at Berkswell. Staff argumentative particularly the boss’s daughter. Food portions small. Quality ok. Overcharging and intimidating. We’re all in our eighties. Don’t touch or step foot in the place. It’s like judging a book by the cover. The cover is stunning but the book is not a good read !! Father and daughter affair. Keep well away. Absolutely disgusting experience.

The Guildford is very warm and welcoming pub.
The bar staff are great, Vicki in particular is amazing. Professional and courteous.
I especially like the fact that pets are welcomed, either just passing for a treat and water which draws the owners in for food and and a quick drink.

No vegetarian options

Having just visited a Greene King chain pub for lunch for my husband's birthday (I havent said which pub as i assume the whole chain would have the same menu) , I was extremely disappointed to find a great lack of choice in the new menu for vegetarians and vegans.
The only obvious main meal option was the Impossible burger, and it was quite impossible to tell it was a vegetarian option as there was no information as to what it actually was, and the "Ve" icon was a bit difficult to see. The only other obvious main meal were both mushrooms and garlic based and as I have an allergy ro mushrooms, neither were viable options. Plus, thþese were the options for a vegetarian roast! When I asked at the bar if there were any other options i was told quorn nuggets which would obviously be for the childrens meal. Quorn sausages were on the childrens' roast menu, but not on the adults which I found very surprising and this then leads to the issue that the may not be vegatarian!0
If there any other options on the menu then this should be made clear, otherwise I feel that this menu is extremely limited/virtually non existent for a new, 6 page, menu. Suffice to say, we did not stay for food and we will not be back until there is a new menu with more vegetarian and vegan options.

Not just for "Locals"

As a new customer to the Glovers in Worcester I wasn't sure quite what to expect but I needn't have worried.
Matthew and his team made me feel welcome immediately and this is now my "Local"
Matthew always greets me with a ready smile and more often than not one of his jokes to put a smile on my face. Nothing is too much trouble from changing the TV channels to having my pint and usual snack on the bar when I come in. Matthew and his team have restored my faith in customer service and most importantly he serves a good pint as well. Don't be put off by the thought that this a "locals" pub. From my experience and from what I have seen you will always be made welcome

A disappointing experience

My dad and I visited the Fieldhead Hotel in Markfield today for a meal. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet our expectations. The food was disappointing and didn’t justify the fifty-two pounds we paid including drinks. More frustratingly, we weren’t checked on during the meal to see if everything was okay. For the same price, you could go to Wetherspoon and get twice the amount of food for your money. We’d rate this two stars.

My family and best friend from my school days had the most exciting time watching England v DRC. Brenda and I arrived early and chose a salad. Scrumptious. The service was phenomenal even during the match.
Marcus and his staff as usual made the experience terrific and I even wonder if he advised Tuchel and king Kane at HT! FANTASTIC atmosphere..kissing abd cuddling complete strangers as Kane did his magic and we were eating our BBQ chicken wings..

Engagement Party Ruined

Absolutely appalling experience and by far the worst hospitality experience I have ever had.
I booked Grain & Hop months in advance for my engagement party, with around 55 guests attending. I specifically requested the upstairs area and made it clear that we wanted the space for the whole evening. This was not a casual drinks booking – it was a once-in-a-lifetime celebration with family and friends travelling from across the UK and overseas, many paying for flights, hotels and significant travel costs to be there.
The day before the event, I suddenly received a booking reminder stating our reservation was only from 7pm–10pm. Then, shortly before the event, we were told we had been moved downstairs. Despite booking for over 50 people, we were shoved into what felt like the darkest, dingiest corner of the pub with seating for around 20 people. We had elderly relatives and pregnant guests attending, yet nobody seemed to care that the space was completely unsuitable.
The whole thing felt like our engagement party had been sacrificed because the pub wanted to prioritise football trade. Despite booking months in advance, our event was clearly treated as an inconvenience.
The most shocking part was being forced out after three hours. We repeatedly reminded management that this was our engagement celebration and that we had booked on the understanding that we would have the space for the evening. It made no difference. We were left with around 60 guests and nowhere to continue the celebration. After all the time, money and effort that our friends and family had invested in attending, it was utterly humiliating.
The attitude of management throughout was dreadful. There was no apology, no empathy and absolutely no ownership of the problems they had created. I've worked in hospitality for years and fully understand that mistakes happen. What I cannot understand is the complete lack of care and professionalism shown towards customers celebrating one of the most important occasions of their lives.
To add insult to injury, I was promised that my £100 deposit would be refunded. Weeks later, despite being told it had been processed, I still haven't received it. I have chased repeatedly and my emails are now being ignored entirely.
Grain & Hop managed to turn what should have been one of the happiest nights of my life into an upsetting and stressful experience. Not only will I never return, but neither will the dozens of guests who witnessed how poorly we were treated. If you are considering booking this venue for any important event, my advice would be simple: don't risk it. They completely ruined our engagement celebration and then ignored us afterwards.

Greene King Oxton.

Greene King Oxton.
Great position but poor unattractive seating and only four tables with parasols during a heatwave.
Food served quickly and was fine
Staff again were the biggest disappointment with a surly barmaid who hadn't bothered to make herself familiar with table numbers outside. Same barmaid who was rude last year which stopped us coming fora while.
Potentially this could be a great local -no kids and dog friendly. But staff attitude stinks which lets it down.

We visited the Master Potter Pub…

We visited the Master Potter Pub yesterday early evening to get some food and drinks on our way home from a day at Alton Towers Water Park, as a treat for my special needs son who was told he was not allowed to attend his prom.

We decided to stop at this pub, as it is a treat for us to eat out, and with wanting to take my son's mind off him missing out on his prom, I thought a pub meal would be a nice treat. Instead, I wasted £140+ of our money.

The staff were miserable and rude, and the food was disgusting. We spent £140+ on food, drinks and desserts, and were treated like an inconvenience by the staff. They asked for our table number when ordering, as expected, however, there was no table numbers on the outdoor tables. When we advised of this, they were rude and said there was.

They messed up the order, and tried to make out that this was our fault, were rude when we initially asked for menus and made us feel really uncomfortable. It was not the pleasant and nice experience I was hoping for at all.

Additionally, the food was vile. It was hot, however, it was small portions and the fish that myself and my son were dished up with was dry - so much so that we couldn't eat it and both pieces were wasted. The batter was also chewy and disgusting, so we just ended up eating mainly the cucumber sticks (an odd combination) and the 15 or so chips that were served with it.

All in all, a miserable experience and one I would not ever repeat again. I could have thought of a million other ways to waste £140+ than on this inedible meal.
