Beautifully decorated cottages with everything needed to make a very comfortable stay. Situated in a lovely quiet area so perfect for a relaxing holiday. Added bonus of lamb cuddles for relaxation. This was our 4th stay and will definitely be back soon.

The Croft was well laid out and very comfortable. The quality of the fixtures and fittings was very high. The view was beautiful and the window seat was a bonus. Our hosts were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our time in this remote part of Galloway.

This is our second time at Grobdale. After finding this wonderful place, we were in no doubt where we wanted to stay while in the area for our holiday.
Once again, we had a wonderful stay. We stayed in The Byre this time and found it to be of the usual high standard in everyway. Immaculately presented and beautifully furnished and decorated. The well stocked welcome hamper was once again greatly appreciated along with a personal greeting for our family.
We found the huge sumptuous settees very comfortable for movie nights and loved the beds for a sound nights sleep.
It is a perfect location for us and spent our time cycling, running, horse riding (thanks again Sarah :)), dog walking, star gazing, sunbathing (the weather was incredible), exploring the Grobdale Safari to enjoy the beautiful scenery, wildlife and farm animals.
We took the opportunity to visit the on site farm shop again and stocked up on their delicious outdoor reared produce.
Thankyou to Sarah, Andy and Lauren for being perfect hosts and sharing your little slice of heaven with us. We cannot wait to return!

This was our second stay at Grobdale. This time we stayed in the Dairy. Just as beautiful as we remembered. Immaculate, everything you could need and the bed is amazing. We haven't slept that well for a long time. We had beautiful weather so made full use of the outside seating area taking in the peaceful, panoramic surroundings. Sarah and Andy are fantastic hosts. Hope to see you all again soon. Thank you. Andy, Tina and Maddie 🐾 xx

Another great stay at Grobdale with Sarah and Andrew. We stayed in the Croft again which was lovely as always, weather perfect, perfect hosts and helping out with the lambs made our holiday. Cannot recommend Grobdale more highly.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Grobdale of Girthon, near Gatehouse of Fleet, in the beautiful cottage called The Dairy. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by the most idyllic and peaceful setting — birdsong filled the air and a sense of calm settled over everything.
The accommodation was absolutely perfect — a cosy, beautifully decorated two-bedroom cottage that had everything we could possibly need. It felt so welcoming and inviting, truly a home away from home.
I brought my two dogs, Hamish and Duke, who were equally well catered for. They loved having access to a secure field where they could run freely and safely whenever they wanted — a real highlight for them (and for me!).
One of the most special experiences was getting the chance to help feed the lambs — such a memorable and heartwarming moment. We also enjoyed many wonderful local walks, exploring from Gatehouse of Fleet out to Sandgreen Beach and around Cally Woods — the scenery was stunning and the peace and quiet just what I needed to truly relax and recharge.
Chris and Sarah, the hosts, were outstanding — so attentive, warm, and welcoming, ensuring our stay was nothing short of fantastic.
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better holiday and I’m already looking forward to returning in the near future. Thank you, Chris and Sarah, for providing such a magical place to stay!

Another wonder stay in the Croft. As always received a lovely welcome hamper filled with goodies. This is my third stay in the Croft. I have enjoyed it every single time I have been. Stunning views, amazing walks in nature, great wildlife spotting and of course the beautiful Hunter family who make the stay extra special. Nothing is to much trouble from helping when you forget that one item you need to making sure you have everything you could want. Was lucky enough to be here while a fresh meat delivery arrived so was able to come home with some fab meats. I can’t recommend Grobdale enough and I’m already looking at booking again❤️🏴

Another wonderful stay at Grobdale (our fourth). Always a wonderful welcome from Sarah and Andy and immaculately presented accommodation. We love staying on the farm, with the kids enjoying feeding the lambs, and enjoying morning and evening walks around the "Grobdale safari" with our dog, watching the kites, curlews, greylag geese, deer, hares and all manner of other creatures. Gatehouse of Fleet and Castle Douglas are great wee towns, and Grobdale is far enough away but not too far -approaching down the farm track makes the stay really special and adds to that sense of getting away from it all. There are plenty of eating options, some of the best views, beaches and scenery in South West Scotland and amazing walking/biking opportunities with a short drive. We can't wait to visit again!

Grobdale at Girthon is set in a tranquil Scottish valley on a small working farm, run by a welcoming family. The cottage was very comfortable, warm and quiet. From your sitting room we had views across the Grobdale valley. We were made very welcome by the owners, were able to explore the workings of the farm, observe and feed the new lambs and enjoy the night sky, during the high solar activity, after the hostesses made us aware of this. There were many walking opportunities for enjoyment of more active holidays too.

A return visit for us which was just as great as the first. This time we stayed in the Dairy which is very welcoming, clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Great veiws, a generous welcome pack and thoughtful touches throughout all add to a special place to stay.
Sarah, Andy and Lauren are extremely welcoming and friendly they have created a very special holiday location to which we hope to return.

The location is superb and lives up to its reputation lying in the moorland of Galloway Forest, but within 20 minutes easy reach of shops and amenities at Gatehouse of Fleet.
Sarah and Andrew met us on our arrival and she showed us around the Croft, explaining everything. The only thing which took some working out was the heating. In really cold weather the log burner is brilliant.
A great base to explore the surrounding area and experience the lifestyle of a working croft.
Would definitely consider visiting again …
We had a wonderful week staying in the Byre over Christmas.
The cottage is luxurious, comfortable and has everything you could need. The location is as rural as it gets, beautiful views and not a sound to be heard. Lovely local villages and towns to visit and walks/ beaches in abundance
Sarah, Andy and Lauren really go out of their way to make your stay a special one - taking our baby to visit the animals, giving us beautiful hampers, inviting us in for a mince pie
Truly a special place and special people

We stayed in the lovely Byre accommodation for the October holidays, with our 2 children and pup. What can I say? Top notch.
Accommodation was beautiful. Scenery and setting was beautiful. Our hosts Sarah and Andy were amazing, took our two children on daily adventures to the animals, let them get stuck in and have fun on their farm. A holiday my children still speak about and ask when are we going back to Grobdale? Thank you to the Hunter family for memories we will cherish. We hope to visit again soon. (Kids say hi to Jim, and Nora!)

Outstanding. Simply outstanding. A true gem offering cosy, high-quality well-appointed (and very tastefully presented) accommodation in an area of stunning natural beauty. This is a place for getting away from it all. No noise (other than the day-to-day sound of the lovely Hunter family tending to the farm); no light pollution (this is ‘Dark Sky’ country!); no stress. Just downtime in comfortable surroundings, with plenty of walks available if you want to stretch the legs with a bit of a rural safari. Plus the delightful village of Gatehouse of Fleet - with good local amenities - and the Galloway shoreline beyond are only a 20-odd minute drive or so away. So, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the wonderfully monikered ‘Grobdale of Girthon’- sounds like something from Lord of the Rings… and Lord, is it worth the trip. Thanks, Sarah, Andy and Lauren.

Good people, quality accommodation, farm shop on site, nothing is too much including Christmas tree lights on for our arrival along with a welcome basket. Great to return and try another cottage as we had a bigger group. Sure we will be back again. Thank you.
Lovely place to stay. Very pleased! Top quality facilities! Mountain biking from the door a bonus. Would highly recommend if you want to get away for a week. We will return.
