Fabulous accommodation in a perfect setting with friendly and helpful hosts who never intruded. The surrounding area offers interesting towns and villages, forest and beautiful coastline. We will definitely return.
This is our second time at Grobdale and what an amazing holiday it was. The dairy is amazing very well equipped with every thing we need and the beds are so comfy and with the Morden touches . Location could not ask for a better place just the birds and the bees is so peaceful and relaxing can’t wait to come back next year.the fire pit out side is amazing we used it every night . Sara and Andy Lauren are the best host ever always Do what they can to help and got to go horse riding with then again . Thank you so much guys was the best holiday .
Stunning location, fantastic accommodation and lovely hosts in Sarah, Andy and Lauren. We have just returned from our third visit and have already booked a fourth for the winter. It is the most incredibly relaxing place to be yet there is much to do and see within easy travelling distance.
We liked it so much here that we booked a second visit and are contemplating a third. Grobdale is found at the end of a stony track about a mile from the single track moorland road and six miles or so from the nearest small town where there are cafés, a small supermarket, tourist information and beautiful woodland walks.
The location is incredibly peaceful- no aircraft or traffic noise - and the views are of the surrounding farm, including horses, sheep, pigs, and the beautiful hills beyond. The enormous Galloway Forest Park is close by where there are excellent visitor centres and activities suitable for all abilities. For walkers there are innumerable walks only a short drive away, hill, coastal and countryside. Wildlife enthusiasts will find plenty to enthrall. There are several small towns within reach with old fashioned high streets and many historic properties and gardens to visit. Being on the farm is entertaining enough with red kites frequently overhead and starry skies on clear nights.
The accommodation is cosy and comfortable and the hosts extremely welcoming but never intrusive. Your mobile is unlikely to get a signal but you are here to get away from it all and the properties have WiFi.
This is such a relaxing place to stay, it's difficult to leave.

We were staying in the Byre which is beautifully built and very well equipped. Comfy beds and great showers. Sarah is a fabulous host - friendly and available if there are any problems (which there wasn't). The cottages are on a working farm about a mile from the road but definitely worth the drive for the peace and the amazing views across the Galloway hills. Would go back when we have a chance!

Everything was 1st class.
We stayed in the Croft which is the smallest of the cottages but perfectly design for two people (and 2 large dogs). The renovation is amazing and so well thought out, rooms were all spacious, everything was super clean, the welcome pack extremely thoughtful (I even received a birthday gift and card - thank you). Sarah could not have been more helpful. I cold not recommend these holiday cottages enough. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be back

Stunning accommodation, hospitality and views. This place really is a hidden gem and I can't say just how therapeutic a stay there is.
We will definitely be back, and didn't want to leave.
This place is perfect in every way, you won't be disappointed.

Firstly do not rely completely on your Sat Nav, use the instructions on the email! After a bit of a detour (we took the wrong road and ended up heading down the forest road) we arrived at Our accommodation. We stayed for 3 nights during the Easter break in The Byer and could not fault anything about it. Our cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything you could need for your stay. From the log burner indoors to the fire pit outdoors everything was fantastic. Our kid’s especially liked the farm location and the Easter eggs they had laid on their bed on arrival was very well received.
If you like peace and quite then this place is for you. The nearby towns and attractions of Dumfries and Galloway are within a 30 minute drive. We explored the surrounding lochs & mountains which were beautiful.
Overall a great short stay with lovely hosts. Would definitely recommend it.
We stayed at Grobdale in The Byre at the beginning of April and we had a wonderful week. Sarah, Andy, Lauren & Jim (the farm collie) made us feel very welcome from day one. Sarah went over and above to ensure we enjoyed our stay and sample the farm experience which was great fun. The cottage was lovely and finished to a very high standard, everything was immaculate, very comfortable bed, fully equipped kitchen, large open lounge area with super comfy leather couch. Some fantastic walks with spectacular scenery locally, forest walks we’re our Boxer dog Bertie’s favourite. We found lovely cake/cafe in the Gatehouse of Fleet ‘The Scone Shop’ delicious 😋
We’ll be returning again next year 😀

This was our 2nd stay at Grobdale (The Croft) and we have already booked for another stay in the summer, our cottage had every thing and more, the view is idyllic from our cottage. shops are a wee drive away if you needed and a good way to see more of the scenery.
Andrew and Sarah could not be more welcoming.
We stayed in dairy it's beautiful and spacious, it's so peaceful and nothing is too much trouble for the hosts they are extremely welcoming and passionate about customers having a great time, they are on hand before and during your stay to help you make the most out of your stay should you need them, log burner is easy to use plenty of fire wood, perfect for winter. kitchen has lots of untensils, beds are so comfy and can recommend home grown sausage from on site shop very yummy, and added bonus on clear night the stars look absolutely amazing, we will be rebooking to go back again
We had a lovely weeks holiday. The accommodation was beautiful and had everything we needed.
Relaxing, warm, comfortable, couldn't ask for more. We hope to be back again as there is so much to see in the area. Thank you Sarah and Andrew for a great stay x
We had an amazing holiday, relaxing, remote and cosy. Nothing was too much trouble, the hosts were welcoming and lovely. We didn't want to leave and have already booked to go back. Lovely local walks, great places to eat, a real gem.
We had a great week in a very well appointed and most comfortable cottage in a lovely, peaceful setting. Everything about the accommodation was faultless. Our host was very helpful and the surrounding countryside provided us with lots of walking and visiting experiences. I would highly recommend this destination.
We stayed at Grobdale for a week at the end of August. Absolutely fantastic experience; the cottage was immaculate with all home comforts, amenities and throughtful touches. Sarah was super helpful before and during the trip, and we really enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm. She advised us on booking trips to a local Whisky Distillery, Barstobrick Riding Stables and Galloway Alpacas. We tried a couple of the local woodland walks, and visited pristine almost empty beaches.
Highly recomend Grobdale for a holiday away from it all. The peace and quiet in the Dark Stars Galloway Park made it a relaxing evening every night and the best sleep in those super comfy beds. I can't wait to return!
We have just returned from a week spent at Grobdale in their cottage, The Croft.
The cottage was simply superb, so well appointed and comfortable, it was a delight to spend time there.
Sarah and Andy were so welcoming and could not have done more for us during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, they were so helpful and accommodating.
We cannot recommend this property highly enough and will definitely be returning.
Such a great place for dogs too, ours had a fabulous time.
We stayed in The Croft in early June, and wow, what a wonderful place. The location is superb (if you want to be off the beaten track). The accommodation is 5-star, finished and furnished to a very high standard. Everything is catered for, even the dogs received a warm reception with gifts in the welcome pack. Andrew and Sarah made us so welcome and were very kind, even to the point of helping us celebrate a big anniversary! We will definitely be returning.
A fabulous place to stay. Sarah and family were amazing hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was spotless, well equipped and extremely comfortable. It was just the escape we needed after lockdown.
We had a lovely week staying in The Croft. Helped by the holiday sunshine. Thank you Sarah and Andrew ; )
We had a lovely week, staying in The Byre at Grobdale. The farm buildings have been beautifully restored to the highest standards and have everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The accommodation is luxurious! Hosts Sarah, Andy and Lauren were extremely welcoming and helpful. The local area is absolutely beautiful. We saw some amazing sunsets from up the hill at the back of the farm. We also had a challenging hike up the hill Cairnsmore of Fleet, in the heat. We were very lucky with the weather, who needs to holiday abroad when we have this beauty on our doorstep?
