I am writing this review to share a very disappointing and misleading experience I had with Grover Netherlands. On April 7, 2023, I rented a Nintendo Switch from Grover through their Dutch website. Before placing my order, I carefully reviewed the product page and the terms and conditions provided during the checkout process. At that time, both the product description and the official terms (specifically section 6.2) clearly stated that customers had the option to purchase their rented device. The clause explained that once a customer decided to buy the product, the rent already paid would be deducted from the final purchase price. This feature — the “purchase option” — was a major factor in my decision to rent through Grover instead of other platforms.
Months later, when I decided to exercise this purchase option, I contacted Grover’s customer support. To my surprise, I was informed that the purchase option had been discontinued as of August 2022 — almost eight months before I placed my order. Grover’s support team claimed that this option no longer existed and that it was not part of my contract. However, this directly contradicts the information that was clearly shown to me at the time of ordering. The terms and conditions I agreed to — and which were available at the following the document 20230112_NL-ENG_bf.pdf — still included section 6.2 describing the purchase option.
At no point during the checkout or contract confirmation process was I informed that this feature had been discontinued. Grover continued to display outdated contractual terms and product information on their Dutch website, creating the clear impression that the purchase option was still valid. This is a serious issue because it influenced my purchasing decision and constituted a key part of the offer as presented. Removing or refusing to honor that option after the fact is both unfair and misleading.
Under Dutch consumer law and EU consumer protection rules, particularly the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, businesses are required to provide accurate and transparent information to consumers before a transaction. Displaying outdated or incorrect contract terms that induce a customer to enter into an agreement can qualify as a misleading commercial practice. Grover’s failure to update their website and terms accordingly, while continuing to advertise a feature they no longer offer, violates these principles of transparency and fair dealing.
I believe Grover should be held accountable for this misleading communication. They should either honor the purchase option as stated in the terms and conditions valid at the time of my order, or provide a fair and equivalent alternative resolution. It is deeply concerning that a company operating across Europe would overlook such a basic consumer right. I hope that by sharing my experience, other customers will be more cautious, and that Grover takes immediate steps to ensure the accuracy of their online information.
In summary, I feel deceived and disappointed. Grover presented conditions that they later refused to uphold, and that is not acceptable.

It is easy and welcome to rent different products from Groover. The fact that all products are covered by insurance is a good thing and especially stress-free for those who rent. If in the meantime the product has broken down or you have damaged it, it is easy to send it back, the damage is assessed, it is seen if you have anything to pay for it (for most products being 90% covered, you have nothing to pay) and then you are sent another product or that repaired product to continue the rental months. Returning the products at the end of the rental period is very easy. You effectively pack the product in its box, print the label given by them and take it to a parcel collection point, it depends on the company that appears on the label (Ups, DHL, etc.) Everything is free, already paid for by Groover.

Grover's customer support has vastly improved. In the past, my experience with Grover was negative due to poor customer service and issues with returns and refunds. Recently, I returned an iPhone within the 14-day return window, and the process was handled smoothly by Grover with no issues. Additionally, I contacted customer service about verification and received a prompt response. Unfortunately, the iPhone 17 is still out of stock at the time of this post. The verification process is my only concern, as I was not comfortable providing my ID to your third party providers. However, it seems I will have to reconsider that option because I want to try again and rent the iPhone 17. It's unfortunate that Grover cannot maintain sufficient stock of the iPhone 17. The verification process need improvement with more options such as bank account linking to prove ID.
