STORY: To know who Gustave de la Reine is, you have to know Andrea Barizza. It sounds like a paradox, but it is not so. Andrea is an Italian conductor who, after graduating in piano, studied conducting in Germany. In the dark days of Covid, when theatres were closed and concerts were not possible, many engagements with various important European musical institutions were suddenly cancelled. It was precisely at that time that the idea of taking action began to take root in Andrea, of doing something so that people would not shut themselves away despite the problematic situation and the various bans, but would be able to enjoy beauty and draw inspiration every day right from home. A true, sincere response to the ugliness of the world and the many contradictions that come our way every day. On the other hand, Andrea's artistic vein and creative exuberance drove him to search for new forms of expression, through which he could produce emotions, colours and tell stories as he had always done on the stage. He thus began to devote himself body and soul to studying a way to express himself in an alternative but equally effective and complete way. He then drew on an old and always cultivated passion of his: drawing, graphics, shapes and colours. With hard work and dedication, he thus achieved an innovative and original mix, personally implementing the conscious change that he now proposes with his artistic journey. Gustave de la Reine was thus born, a pseudonym symbolising the birth of a new 'person' through Beauty, Quality, Passion. The name 'Gustave' recalls Andrea's two great loves: Gustav Mahler and Gustav Klimt, both brilliant figures of turn-of-the-century Vienna. 'De la Reine' is a tribute to the immortal symbol of the crown, so fascinating with its gold and mysterious power. Today Gustave de la Reine has exhibitions in various parts of the world to his credit, a permanent exhibition in his home town of La Spezia and a successful Crowdfunding campaign with thousands of Euros raised and more than two hundred donors from all over the world. Due to the enormous success of this initiative, originally intended to set up the first exhibition (later held in the Dresden City Hall in Germany), Gustave decided to invest what remained and bring his vision to life. To help others create their own place of inspiration and expression of their uniqueness. Thus was born the Shop, where anyone can enjoy Gustave's emotions, colours and music. Everyone can be inspired and inspire others through their own story, certainly represented in a symbolic form in some of his work. GUSTAVE de la Reine, artistic pseudonym of Andrea Barizza, is an Italian contemporary artist and graphic designer. He has created a completely original style that manages to combine music and art. Through the use of musical notation and colours, his works are considered a marriage of the two forms of artistic expression. Music is used to define form, structure, thoughts and matter while colour is understood as a communicative symbol to convey emotions, feelings and motions of the soul. His works are conceptual but always concrete in their underlying themes and speak of the experiences that human beings face during their lives in relation to the modern world. What is at the core of Gustave's poetics is the crystallisation of a moment, a feeling, an emotion, a story, through its symbolic extrinsicisation. Colours and music freeze that eternal moment in an image that carries with it the whole experience. This philosophy is also at the heart of his artistic production as a Graphic Designer. Gustave devotes himself with great enthusiasm to the creation of the visual identities of artists, musicians and more generally of those working in the artistic and cultural field.
