I've used Heritage for several years for cards and coins. Their recent increases in buyer premiums are a lot higher than most auction houses, but you know what you're bidding on is authentic.

Like others here, I've tried to submit items for evaluation either to go into their auctions or private sales, and each time my details were rejected, with no explanation. I had a feeling they were bad news, hence looking here, which confirmed what I'd thought. They're a bunch of grifters, not to be trusted. Thanks to everyone else for leaving their reviews.
I contacted to consign some items. Originally received a response, asked if I wanted to confirm consigning to respond and a consignment form would be sent over as soon as possible.
Replied, no response. Followed up again, no response.
Used the online form AGAIN x2 and no response.
That's 4 attempts now in total, twice no response after a initial response.
That's just not acceptable and I'll begrudgingly go through Goldin for video game related memorabilia which is meant to be Heritage's strength.
An overall poor experience especially as I'd be more than likely to buy items based on a good experience.
What a rip off on shipping and handling. Bought once never again
They sold me some counterfeit currency about two years ago. I stupidly bought from them some graded currency (not knowing how to check it) and I later sold it on ebay. The guy sent it off to a grading service and it came back counterfeit. They quite possibly use shill bidders. We bought several items from them and lost some bidding. We would watch their auctions in the next two weeks and the exact same thing came up again. We let ourselves get outbid again and they relisted it about 2 weeks later, now we are watching a lot of their auctions and if it gets sold to online bidders, it is possibly a shill which may or may not be legal in the state they are operating in, we don't know but we do know we have ALWAYS had to pay full retail for whatever we "won" in their auctions. There are no deals here, especially if they use shills
Heritage Auctions misrepresented an auction item which cost nearly $2000 with fees. When it arrived it had significant damage making it unfit for purpose. Heritage Auctions admitted they knew about the damage but didn't put it in the condition report or online description. Looking back I can see they took the photos in a particular way to conceal the damage. When I reported it they initially offered me a 10% refund "voucher" despite the fact they admitted misrepresenting the item. The item is now worthless - I was quoted more than the item value to restore it from an independent restorer. The 10% offer wouldn't even cover the shipping cost! Customer service is terrible - emails back and forth for days and days, getting nowhere fast, curt responses, lots of stress. I informed them that I am a large collectables/prop collector and their reputation is key but they didn't care. I wouldn't trust this auction house ever again. The stress of dealing with them isn't worth it. Issue is still not resolved.
I am shocked as one of the most famous auctions in the world, can treat buyers so irresponsibly, a terrible support service that cannot help even with simple questions, I was very dissatisfied with the experience of working with them, AVOID!!!
Bought an art print, condition was described as having ‘mild handling creases to the edges’. Upon receiving the print the creases turned out to be worse than mild. Went back to check the photo used for the auction and found that this was manipulated to hide the damage. First and last time using them
Heratage auction will say anything to get your item. They will promise you they have clients to get the price you are looking for. Then once they receive your item, They will set the reserve at 25% of agreed price. Once they have item, Your in trouble. Read all the negative reviews, And ask your self why. After all it's not there stuff they are sellr. So they only care about money. They didn't get that big by not robbing few people along way. Pick any othe auction house if you don't want to get robbed.
The most mediocre customer support I've ever seen, for completely outrageous fees. FLEE FROM THEM.
I contacted Heritage Auctions through their website, HA.com, and used their free evaluation tool to get an idea if my cards had any value
On January, 30th 2021 Mark Jordan reached out to me regarding my 1953 Mickey Mantle, he wanted to know if I had more, I told him I did and wanted to auction my cards, signed baseballs off in an auction.
Mark told me to email him the player, year, number, and manufacturer of card, but no pictures please.
It took a month, and about 700 cards and 50+ emails later I was ready to go to Dallas an meet Mark Jordan to discuss which cards should be sent for grading. Unfortunately, the day before, Mark J. Cancelled on me and said use 2 day FedEx.
First red flag missed.
They received my 35pounds of cards on 3/3/21
Mark Jordan said I had a lot of valuable cards, and he initiated a late May 2021 auction for my cards.
Everything was working smoothly, until 3/16/21 when Mark Jordan and Sarah DeSalvo called to let me know without qualification that I wasn’t going to be in the May 2021 auction.
I suspected something strange about the reversal but also the fact that Heritage Auctions had held my cards for two weeks then told me this, I told them I wanted my cards back in two days, he told me I would not get them back for another two weeks!!!
I was livid.
I called Chris Ivy-coCEO, he told me that he would take care of everything from here.
I received my 3 boxes back last day of March, 2021,
It took some time to go through all my cards.
I had cards that were not returned, specifically pre Derek Jeter and Derek Jeter rookies along with mint condition 1970’s cards, 1971 Thurman Munson, 2 1993 UDSP Derek Jeter’s.
I contacted Chris Ivy, Mark Jordan, Sarah DeSalvo by email because they would not return my calls.
I emailed them for an entire year trying to get a human response from them.
They did not respond, so I kept on emailing them until I received a phone call from James Vaughan, CI DFW airport on 8/25/2022, he said that he was investigating my case. (Thought he was investigating the stolen cards which have a value between 250-1million dollars.
James Vaughan told me I have a warrant out for my arrest in mid September 2022 and need to turn myself in to 100 Lamar st. Tarrant County detention facility.
I started to think this was a scam since I have no paperwork or any other correspondence except email and phone conversation.
I ignored it, then I had 4undercover cops surround my house to arrest me last Wednesday and put in the Bexar County intake for 36 hours.
How do thieves, like Heritage Auctions, use the legal system to bypass truth, and use their system to scam people and throw in jail.
I know no lawyers, if I had to do it again I would have filed criminal charges against them.
I don’t know what to do, and I need your help.
VERY bad experience. I sent 3 Email (July and August) to C. Ivy and never received an answer. Over a week ago, I complained by sending an email to corporate and again NOTHING. My wife sold very expensive wine with them: she experienced the same issues: very bad communication. It took her 2 months to get the check after wine was sold. I will move on and never-ever consider Heritage Auction (ha.com) again. This was a very bad experience.
