Mixed experience for the price
Delivery was 24 hours later than scheduled, which was disappointing for a time-sensitive product, although it did arrive at a safe chilled temperature (0–5°C).
The potatoes and broccoli were good. The crab portion was adequate, but it lacked flavour.
The main let-down was the lobster. The lobster was small and, once split, there was very little usable meat, which realistically amounted to one light portion in total. This did not feel sufficient for two adults, particularly given the £94 price tag and the product being marketed as luxury.
Overall, some positives, but for £94 the portions and value for money didn’t meet expectations.
I would not recommend.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Told our "parcel was missorted at their depot" so would not be delivered today, and thus would not be available for a long-planned family lunch the next day (which involved some people undertaking significant travel to). When I explained this and that, due to their error, we would therefore need to cancel and be refunded so we can make other last minute plans for that lunch as a family, they refused, and tried to dictate that we should just stay in all day, await a revised delivery and eat at a different time (even though they could not confirm what time nor day the food would actually show up, or how fresh it would still be). So basically adding further inconvenience on to their original error. Contrast this to another food company delivery recently who forgot to send an ingredient (which we didn't initially notice) who then proactively followed up with a partial refund and free sample. Mistakes are regrettable, but it is how a company responds to them that shows their real colours. It is clear Haar at Home does not have the customer at the front of mind.

Fantastic As Usual

We have had a number of meals and last night’s was up to the usual 5 star standard. Easily prepared with a top restaurant result and all in the comfort of your own home where the drink is cheaper.

Amazing seafood boil

I ordered the limited edition seafood boil, and I have to say it was one of the loveliest luxury dinners I have ever had at home. I would highly recommend this company and I look forward to whatever I will be ordering next. Thank you for a great cook at home experience.

Average. Mainly good flavours, but inconsistent size & quality of ingredients.

We had the November 2024 seasonal menu. Good and bad points, hence the 3 star review. It was delivered on time and all packed well. The starter needed to be cooked at a different temperature than the main, meaning that unless you have 2 ovens (which I don't) or if you're happy to be in the kitchen cooking the main while you're eating the starter, there is a 60 minute gap between eating making the starter and the main course. Starter tasted great but nothing like the picture on the website - about 4 tiny 0.5cm squares of potato each, and the rest was mush. One scallop was twice the size of the other, so the portions were uneven. More black pudding than expected though, so overall I was happy with the dish. I cooked new potatoes and carrots for the main course for time specified but they were still very hard despite me cutting them in half. The venison wellington was a bit tricky to assemble, and the venison was an uneven shape meaning that half of it overcooked because it was so thin (only about an inch thick at one end). Plenty of haggis to go around it though, which tasted delicious. The jus was awful - grainy texture, sludgy colour, and minimal flavour. We ended up eating most of the wellington but everything else got left. We didn't bother with the dessert. I couldn't find anywhere on the Haar at Home website to leave a review, hence me posting on here. On a plus point, we have previously had the lobster brioche which was lovely (albeit not much lobster). Would I order from Haar at Home again? Probably not, as I find other companies like Dishpatch are more consistent with their ingredients and instructions. Was it a complete disaster? No, it was average.

If I could give 0 I would

If I could give 0 I would. Oh how cliche.
We received the lobster linguine and the land and sea boxes as gifts.
The lobster linguine arrived this week and to say it was poor is an understatement.
The sauce was unseasoned and tasteless.
There was no fresh veg with the dish at all. Anywhere I've eaten this dish before typically serves it with some cooked off cherry tomatoes or something similar.
I'd have been disappointed with the lobster portion had this meal been for one person, never mind two.
The wine provided also didn't pair well with the dish.

We have the land and see box arriving in a few weeks. I was looking forward to it, but at least this time I'll know to make other arrangements just in case.

This clearly isn't the same Haar that we used over lockdown. More like a Haar dish ordered from Temu.

Terrible

Terrible, carb linguine was basically inedible,
Opened the crab and it stank of rotten fish. Overpowered the meal and could not eat it. Only good thing about the box was they give you enough linguine to cook something else!

What’s Gone Wrong?

oh dear! what’s happened? We loved these boxes over lockdown! What was the best ever lobster, was today such a disappointment. For the price, it was shocking. Loved the scallops, potato timings were out, nice dessert though. I think every effort was put in to this side of the business during lockdown, but standards have dropped. Expensive and disappointed

Excellent experience.

Ordered the Valentine's 5 course meal. Delivered on time and in great condition. Instructions online were easy to follow. Portions were generous and quality of food was excellent. All the little extras for the courses were flavoursome and definitely added to the food. Have used other "at home" services and this was definitely our favourite.Will look to order again.

Disgraceful. Don’t waste your money

Don’t waste your money. Ordered for two what was advertised as a premium product, and priced the same. The box contained some extras (champagne, at an expected price, potatoes, bread, caviar) however the base meal wouldn’t even feed one person. There was one dried, broken old crumpet, smaller than a warburtons shop bought one. One small pouch of lobster weighing at 70g between two people, one small octopus tentacle weighing 60g, and a few thin slices of trout, and a small lump of rye bread. I spoke to someone on the phone assuming this could only be a mistake as a product priced so high, meant to feed two adults, could surely not arrive in such meagre, miserable portions, however they were utterly unapologetic and stood behind the defence that it is advertised as meals being shared between two adults. When asked if they get many bad reviews, she told me not at all - one quick internet search unveiled a string of similar experiences to mine. This is just such a disappointing and sour experience as I feel I have been fleeced out of money and yet Haar get away with the bare minimum. This firm should be looked into. BUYER BEWARE, you’re better off taking your money and buying the ingredients yourself, at a fraction of the cost. An absolute disgrace.

I’d go with zero stars if that was an…

I’d go with zero stars if that was an option. Portions missing from our box for two, so only enough for 1, messed our date night up. Food quantity does not match photos on website. Tried to contact customer service on multiple occasions, no way to contact, get emails saying email rejected as mailbox under maintenance, this has gone on for 6 days now. Get things go wrong but zero customer service, not good at all, this is a premium priced product which lacks in value, quality & customer service in our recent experience.

We ordered online

We ordered online, thinking that we had ordered a "gift" for delivery. A week later, we checked in and were told that the giftee had to confirm (even though we had entered in the delivery address). Given that the celebratory time had long gone (birthday), we cancelled and we assessed a 15 GBP admin fee for the sake of time. No desire by the organization to apologize for their web design.

Repeat customer has had enough and won't use them anymore

Let me start by saying I am a repeat customer who will never go back to Dean banks either his restaurant at the Pompadour and the Harr at home. Agree with the other reviews the price exceeds the quality and this time I'm I've been left with a really bad taste in my mouth. We ordered the festive feast for new year. I'd actually planned to eat the meal on the 30th however without any warning it arrived a day early and everything was frozen. So no chance of it defrosting in time. I called them and they said this was because of the postal strike and overloading with couriers but as we paid £10 for a small overnight courier this shouldn't be the case. And I would have liked the choice because if I had known it was coming frozen, I would have cancelled my order. However I'm sure lots of other people would have done as well which is why they didn't ask.
The consistency of langoustine and lobster was rubbish because they had been frozen. I also decided to keep the steaks for another occasion as they were hard frozen already. I defrosted them today... one of them smells lovely the other one has brown on it and just doesn't smell very fresh. I am absolutely livid and will never use this lot again.

Another excellent meal from Haar at Home

My wife and I have enjoyed many excellent Haar at Home and Wagyu Burger meals over the last couple of years and we have never been disappointed.

This weekend we had the limited edition 'Dulse at Home', combining the wonderful modern seafood dishes from Dulse with the excellence of Haar at Home, and it was excellent.

When we first opened the box, we were a wee bit concerned it didn’t look like very much, but the portions were perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed the different flavours. Preparation was very straightforward and it was a lot of fun recreating the artistic dishes.

We haven’t managed to visit Dulse in person yet and this was a great way to sample some of the dishes.

Please repeat this one.

Spam spam spam

We ordered a perfectly ok meal, it was fine, no complaints though not amazing. What we have experienced since needs flagging to potential customers. If you order a meal or make contact with them you will get deluged, literally on a daily basis from them. They change addresses so sending to junk doesn’t work. When I unsubscribed from emails I then started getting a torrent of text messages. Please be very careful using this firm, I for one really regret it.
