Dreadful quality

Dreadful quality; paint peeling and corrosion on an expensive "commercial quality" exterior floodlight less than 18 months after installation in a non‐coastal location. No reply to emails attempting to claim on the 5 year warranty hence this review. Really glad we only purchased two Collingwood lights because we were about to use Collingwood exclusively for the entire garden project.

AVOID THE FLOODLIGHTS from an…

AVOID THE FLOODLIGHTS from an Electrician!

They seemed great at first so installed around 30 mainly 10w/ 20w floodlights for customers. 2 years and they start to go wrong. I have replaced around 20 so far which is incredibly annoying because no one pays for my time to do that. The PIR is the main problem. It fails. Some of the LED’s gone also. I only install Timeguard now.

Extremely poor performance

Electrician fitted all the ceiling lights with Collingwood WHITE DLT551500A for 3 rooms total of 25 . Since installation 7 months ago we have had to replace 4 of them and that’s not a good rate to me, when they have hardly been used . They 1st start flickering intermittently and then continuously! It would have been better ,At least if we could have just replaced the led which we can not .

Very disappointing

Very disappointing.

We ordered some expensive ground lights from Collingwood, and a Collingwood constant current driver (350mA) to run them. I couldn’t figure out why the lights wouldn’t even turn on, so bought two non-Collingwood ones to add to the circuit in case it was a minimum load issue. These worked but only glimmered or flashed. The Collingwood ones stayed dead. I then got my dad involved (electronic engineer), and we built a set of circuits to test each component, together with some resistors and a multimeter. The multimeter showed almost no voltage across the circuits and barely any current (when in series). At this point I wrote to Collingwood asking for help and suggestions. They never even responded. Long story short, it appeared their driver had blown up when first used, and had simultaneously taken out the £70 ground lights with it. The driver was then only able to provide intermittent power to the unbranded lights. A new driver from another company confirmed this.

Finally, there’s NO WARRANTY on the lights, so once you’ve spent hundreds and their own kit has destroyed them, you’ll never get your cash back. I resorted to taking them apart (you have to dig through the rubber and use a U screwdriver to undo the security bolts, which means they won’t be waterproof anymore), replaced the LEDs with new chips from China and connected everything to the new driver. So they are fixable and reusable… if you’ve got an Electronic Engineer PhD in the family and a ready supply of liquid rubber… Really disappointed that Collingwood flogs this stuff for so much money, and then provides no support to customers. Won’t be going back to them, that’s for sure.

AVOID COLLINGWOOD - ABSOLUTE TRASH!!!

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD !!!
I HAVE NOW PURCHASED TWO OF THESE COLLINGWOOD SECURITY LIGHTS.
Firstly, IN MARCH 2024, AND AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2024.
*** BOTH INSTALLED PROFESSIONALLY***
BOTH HAVE FAILED WITHIN A FEW WEEKS!!!

***THEY ARE NOT WATERPROOF *** AS SOON AS There IS HEAVY RAIN, THE LIGHT FAILS. THE LATEST ONE WAS INSTALLED ON THE 14TH November 2024. IT HAS NOW FAILED DUE TO WET WEATHER.
IT'S LESS THAN THREE WERKS AGO!!!!

Avoid ! AVOID! AVOID!!!!

Don't buy their Chinese Downlights!!!!

Just to let customers know who are thinking about buying their downlight units..Collingwood are now using Chinese parts in their lights to save money but funnily enough the price of their light units havent changed.! 36 thousand hour lights are now blowing in under 2 months! Ask suppliers on just how many returns there have been..disgusting!

Customer Service as it should be - totally 5 Star

How many times does a call to customer service disappoint? Almost always.
The exception is Collingwood Lightening - a single call, and an exchange of emails and the problem fixed. All within a few hours.
An exceptional performance with a replacement arriving the next day.

Great service

Our Collingwood downlighters throughout our new build flat were subject to a 7 year warranty and a couple of them were replaced free of charge under the warranty. When a light failed and we were just out of the warranty period I enquired about the product number so that I could order a new one and they kindly offered to replace it as they could see that the warranty had only just run out. This is a mark of excellent customer service.

Dreadful company

Dreadful company. Awful customer service who don't seem to care and even when you manage to get through to a manager they refuse to do anything to solve issues. One of my down lighters went out and they refused to replace it as they don't make them anymore - I would expect it to be free as we are supposedly under warranty but I cant even pay for a replacement! So we are left with a hole in the ceiling or are going to have to replace the lot - this is a huge flaw in their business and collingwood don't seem to care whatsoever!

poor quality and environmentally unsound

We had Collingwood lights fitted, they were recommended as a quality product and they are certainly that from a visual point of view.
We have six of one design and three of another, one of the six has failed, not the unit it’s a bulb issue, and two of the three have failed, those have five bulbs in them, none of which can be replaced. The units are discontinued so we cannot even buy new ones, we are left with lights that don’t work, or holes in our walls, or lights that don’t match/fit, they can not even supply any of the same size to mismatch them with.
The lights are in a holiday cottage that is used less than a quarter of the year which makes the product even worse as they have had barely any use.
Their customer service department was friendly but useless, they can’t even mend the units at our expense. These are solid brushed steel units, I do not think it is acceptable that every few years light fittings go into landfill because of poor manufacture, particularly top of the range priced ones. How absurd that it oh can’t change the bulb element of a light fitting.
DO NOT BUY COLLINGWOOD PRODUCTS, FOR ALL THEIR HYPE THEY ARE OVER PRICED, BADLY THOUGHT OUT, AND ENVIRONMENTALLY DISASTROUS!!!

ABSOLUTE IDIOTS

They claim that their LED lights are the best and will work for "75,000 hours" and have a seven year warranty. Sounds good right? So I bought 100 lights for my home (at £48.00 ea plus vat) very expensive considering an alternative is only about £4.00 each. I was convinced by the claims for energy in the sales blurb.
I then started having problems……. The lights that dim, don’t… I have the correct fittings the correct type of dimmer. The lights are either on or off or flicker. My installer changed some of the lights and the worked fine, he said the old ones were faulty and I agree, if a direct swop for the same item on the same cable fixes the problem the item removed must be faulty. Right? Makes sense so far?
So I contacted halers to arrange an exchange as recommended by the place I bought the lights from (who were very pleasant, honest and upfront I must say). Shame I can’t say the same about halers…..
One of the most devious and conniving companies I have ever dealt with.
They will lie cheat and steal without breaking a sweat, I had the misfortune of speaking with their managing director – I can’t write on here what I actually think of him.
They claimed that their lights cannot be faulty and would flat out dodge my telephone calls they know who I am and I have told them exactly what I think of them and their “customer service”
Take my advice I learnt the hard way DO NOT buy any of their products, they don’t work as they claim and when they break they don’t want to know.
Am about to start case with the courts as they won’t speak to me…..
