The unboxing experience alone was worth half the price. There were so many layers of beautiful boxes and soft, gentle tissue paper that I thought I was performing surgery on a very fancy onion. I've kept the box. It is now my primary residence.

Hidden customs fees for UK buyers.
I bought a pair of shoes from Hammargruppen to be shipped to the UK. However, the check out process did not explain that the I would have to pay 30% of the cost in customs fees and taxes. Upon check out, the website only stated that there were "shipping costs" attached, which the customer pays together with the product price. But now I understand that these shipping costs do not cover the customs clearance which is completely misleading. It was extremely disappointing and disturbing when UPS was claiming more than £120 in customs fees and taxes upon delivery to the UK.
The Hammargruppen website is not transparent on the final cost for the customer. Before buying I had also checked Trustpilot reviews and there were no reviews about hidden customs fees. In fact, most of the EU online sellers in the UK either assume the customs fees and taxes themselves (without passing them to the customer, as it's quite a deterrent to buy) or are very clear upon check out about how much the price would increase in case of delivery to the UK.
However, Hammargruppen does not follow any of these two established principles and instead leaves a very disappointing surprise for the customer. And I am sure that this is not the first time that this has happened. Then, why not being clear in their website?
The worst thing is that, despite cancelling the order so UPS would take it back to Sweden, I will have to assume both the shipping costs for delivery to the UK (£38) and the return shipping costs. The response from Hammargruppen customer service has been swift and polite but disappointing, as they don’t assume any responsibility on the misunderstanding or on the costs that I will have to assume. I find shocking that such a renowned company provides this awful customer experience for UK buyers.
