Selling a car with sentimental value…
Selling a car with sentimental value isn’t easy, but Hampson Auctions made the whole experience calm and straightforward. They genuinely care about their clients and not just the transaction.
A further follow up to my previous post regarding Hampsons Auctions
Given that most of the coolant hoses were damaged and the core plug was heavily corroded, the only reasonable conclusion is that the vehicle was not roadworthy and was either towed or otherwise transported to the auction premises. It clearly was not driven there.
In these circumstances, it is wholly unacceptable and negligent of Hampsons not only to have misdescribed the vehicle as diesel engined when it is in fact petrol engined but also to have failed to state explicitly that the vehicle was a non-runner at the point of sale.
Always sell with a reserve.
After a very bad experience with this company I would recommend that if you sell through auction, no matter what they say, push or do, always sell with a reserve for what you know your pride and joy is worth.
After selling my Audi RS7 with them, I am now out of pocket by approx £12000. This has seriously affected my mental health and financial status.
If they try to get you to lower or take your reserve out before or during the auction. DONT. They told me that no reserve sales always sell for more. That confirms their commission, that’s all.
My 28-30k car sold at 17750, took ten working days to clear into my account even though they released the car the following morning by 9am.
Many people have been caught by this, they keep on reporting my reviews for defamatory comments, I will keep going to get my story across so others don’t suffer the same fate as me.
As a first-time seller, I would have appreciated clearer communication at key decision points
I consigned my car with a reserve and was later contacted shortly before the auction and advised to remove it to improve the chances of a sale. At the time, I did not fully understand how this would affect the overall costs, as this was not explained during the call or in the follow-up messages.
After the sale, communication felt slow, and when I asked for clarification, responses referred back to standard terms rather than addressing the specific questions I raised.
Staff were polite throughout, but the process felt rushed and left me unsure at times. Clearer explanations during calls and more detailed post-sale communication would improve the experience, especially for first-time sellers.
Please don’t use this Hampson Auction…
Please don’t use this Hampson Auction they are crooks who wants your £300 for listing after that they don’t care, I dropped my Bentley Bentayga 2 weeks before Auction 23/11/2025. 2 days before Auction date I had a buyer who wanted to buy the car i called Luis he said please ask them to register and bid on auction day, I asked the buyer to register then he came back saying Bentley isn’t listed on their lot since then I have been calling Luis he never answered me I also called his office they said his busy he will return your call also left messages for his boss Zack no one bothered returning my call, you can imagine what I am going through £140K car, I waited suddenly Luis messaged me saying I will call you back in 10 min then 20 min never heard until 24th Nov 25. Day after auction I decided to call 1 last time before I make my way to Helsby which is 300 miles from me. Finally Luis answered saying sorry we couldn’t sell your car you can pick up your car. Zach didn’t bother to call and explain why they didn’t list it on their lot since auction. Utterly disgusted with their service.
please don’t waste your time with these…
please don’t waste your time with these people. never give them your details or they will just spam you texts, calls and emails!
Give them your car details and they will try to sell it for you using other means than auction very dodgy dealings with this company!
just keep away from this company!
The reason I left this feedback (others have a similar experience with your company) is because I made a genuine enquiry about selling my husbands car with you and although I didn’t proceed, thankfully now all I get is spam!! Texts and unruly hours and emails that is why the negative feedback was left. If you don’t like the feedback left I suggest you don’t continue to spam your potential customers or sell their details on to third parties!

I've been trading classics for years
I've been trading classics for years. It's getting harder and harder to buy at Hampson's because the prices avhiced are so string. That alone tells you everything you need to know about hw well the team perform.

Be VERY cautious buying from Hampsons
My experience of buying a (£42,000) supercar from Hampsons Auctioneers was horrific.. Please be very, VERY careful and don’t fall for their dirty tricks..
The description stated the car was recently serviced and ran well. Hampsons claimed the keys & service history were still “in transit” due to probate issues..but assured me the car ran perfectly and fully serviced..
After winning & receiving the car it is very clear the bottom end has mere hours left and my local (independent) supercar centre want a ridiculous amount of money to pull the mid mounted engine & rebuild it.. Hampsons want nothing further to do with me & wontreturn my calls..
BUYER BEWARE has never been more appropriate than with Hampsons.. Ignore their fictional descriptions, get an independent inspection or better still, buy from a reputable source..

Do not rely on their descriptions
Whilst waiting to bid on another car at the Hampson Auctions on-line, a Beach Buggy came up that looked good value. I read the description which was glowing about the car including 200 hours of restoration, body and paint work excellent, engine been re-built, not many miles and pulls like a train. When it arrived it was the complete opposite of their description. It was fact it was complete write off. When I informed Hampson they took no responsibility for their description but just pointed to their T&C's. I even offered to donate the profit they made to an animal charity as at that stage it was not about the money more about the principal that they are a professional auction house who in my opinion wholly misrepresented the condition of the car in their auction.

Beyond my expectation
Beyond my expectation
I hoped for a fair price but the hammer result was far higher. Great energy in the room and the team clearly worked hard for me and my family.

Repeat sellers choice
This was my second time selling with selling with Hampson Auctions and Zach once again went above and beyond to deliver a great result. Consistent professionalism, excellent communication, and strong prices they'll always be my first call when selling a car.
