Buyer beware - after sales and customer service is dire

I bought an Evoke in May from the Croydon dealership and at that time I thought the sales experience was very good.

I'm glad I didn't write a review on the day of purchase as it's 5 months later and having made 10 calls and emails to various people at Harwoods, I still don't have an invoice, warranty information, service history, app details or any other supporting documentation.

Something did go wrong with my car a couple of months ago so I contacted them yet had no reply so I arranged to get it repaired elsewhere.

I recently needed a service and chose another dealership - if Harwoods can't arrange something as straightforward as a post-sale receipt and care pack, then I'm not trusting that they will service my car to a good standard and I doubt I'd have any come back if anything went wrong.

I've now given up contacting them as there's no point; no call back, no apology, no documents.

I really like my car but not Harwoods. They simply don't put enough care into post sales and I suspect they focus on bottom line and sales as is evident in how they treat the customer once you have parted with a significant sum of money.

Sytner were exceptional in servicing it and I'll be using them from now on.

**UPDATE** It's been over a week since Harwood's replied to this review and asked me to contact them, which I did immediately. I still haven't had a reply - I suspect they respond to negative online comments as a PR exercise to appease potential purchasers, then don't bother following up with their customers.

Jaguar Land Rover Hardwoods will mislead you

Having visited Land Rover, Range Rover Harwoods across various franchises. I can honestly say in the real sense this company is “dodgy”

We all target or get upset with companies, but seem to forget that it’s the people in them, the ones that occupy the desk, who answer the phone and build things that either do or don’t care.

An empty desk in any organisation world wide does nothing good nor does anything wrong,,, it’s the people.

So back to Harwoods in fact JLR generally they have cars on the multiple forecourts and platforms via their franchise companies which display a sum of money for the sale of the vehicle.

Have a look around and take a look at another web site and don’t be surprised that the vehicle has a bigger or smaller price and a different mileage,,,,,,,,,,why?

It’s a relatively easy answer on this one,,, the Indian owned JLR think that we here in the UK are stupid.

They display cars with x mileage and the mileage on the actual car is different,,,,as in higher.

In 2024 why are such companies in the UK allowed to mislead people like you and me,,,, just goes to show how affective the FCA are, I was going to say also the ASA advertising standards, but they are entirely pointless.

These Indian companies and staff especially at the franchises and arguably at the plant - Jaguar Land Rover Range Rover seem to really struggle with ethics even today.

The whole of Indian owned Jaguar, landrover and Range Rover really do not care at all and just want to sell you “stuff” and the trust bit has entirely gone,,,,,,which is real shame as these brands were not any better being English owned,,, but the people in them seemed honest.

Superb customer care

I visited Harwoods JLR Brighton recently for an annual service. I received quite simply outstanding service from everyone involved. From a lovely warm friendly welcome at customer reception (Abbi and Andrea) then to meeting up again with Katie Groves and Hayley Brooks heading the service team. Zacc Heasman looks after my vehicle and is a very professional technician. Well done everyone Top Team

Awful experience

Awful experience. I had a clutch changed last week in JaguarLandRover Brighton and they gave me a quote. Two days into the job, they decided to add another £408 pounds onto the total cost. I refused and they said the car was undriveable without doing the extra work (new master cylinder) so I had no choice. They told me the part was £130 and they charge £222 per hour! Top lawyers in London don’t earn that! I was in shock.
After four days I got the car back and it was completely different - someone had been playing around with the computer system and lots of things had been messed with. They had changed the electric speedometer into kilometres per hour. Because the car is from Europe the speed dial is in km/h so it’s very important the electric speedometer must be in mph. One of the conditions of matriculation from Europe is that the speed must be measured in mph.
The windows no longer close when you long press the lock button on the fob, and there is a red warning light on the dash which says “restricted performance”. When I came to put diesel in the car, the fuel cap fell off because someone had disconnected the fuel cap from the car.
I phoned up many times today to speak to someone, no one called me back, and I was disconnected many times. I will never take it here again. A rip off and unprofessional job done.

Tea and coffee doesn't smooth over the obvious cracks....

The charge flap on our £40k Q4 Etron wouldn't open so had to drive all the way there for the technician to just rip it open....!!! Why they couldn't tell me to do that I don't know.

The next available slot was 4 weeks away with no guarantee of fixing it that day so I waited patiently for 6 weeks for a courtesy car. Turned up today at 8am only to be called just now at 11am to be told they need it for another day - THEY HADN'T EVEN LOOKED AT IT?!

It's so obvious that they have too much work and are just trying to stall people seeing as they had the part in weeks ago to fix and unless they had actually found another problem it doesn't take over a day to replace....how do I know this, because a woman sat next to me had the exact same problem!

On top of this, about 6 months ago we had to take it in and had the same experience with them fobbing us off that it would take three days to update the software??!!

So sad as the receptionists are really nice personable people which is the only credit to the company. I think if it's a warrantee issue you take second place......awful experience x 2!

Window replacement with Harwoods croydon

I was attended to by Mr Abdul Nuhu at the Centre in Croydon where I brought my car glass window to be replaced. What a professional gentleman?, very nice welcoming smile. His approach was very positive and kept me informed of update of my car. Generally I was happy with the work done and I appreciate the team at the reception too. Good experience always.

Not Fit for Purpose

Even the one star given is too much for the appalling
service given at Harwoods Audi, Hants.
I used their website to book a service and MoT or so I thought. Although the site showed the 'next date available' on their calender and the time of '10:00am also available', it turns out that neither were available until the week after. I was told also, that the booking isn't actually a booking but a request for a booking.
Where is the logic in that and why have a website that isn't fit for purpose?
I am not sure if Audi CEO's ever look at these reviews but they seriously need to know about the lack of customer care at their dealerships/websites.

I brought a new jaguar XF from the Chichester branch, they made it very easy to purchase the add ons which I accepted were explained throughly but the nice little touch was after a couple of weeks I received an afternoon tea voucher saying thank you for purchasing the car, all the team at Chichester were good and knowledgeable especially Paul Walter

I Harwoods Audi to Harwoods Southampton Audi…

I went to Harwoods Southampton Audi with very low expectations as Audi had ceased production of the A4 Avant.
However I was met by Ellie who listened to my needs and promptly set about finding the exact model and specification I required even down to the colour.
Ellie has only been in car sales for Seven months but she is definitely a star, and the whole experience at Harwoods has been very satisfactory.

Harwoods Brighton

I recently purchased a Range Rover velar from Harwoods. We were dealing with Jack and when we visited the showroom to view the vehicle we went round it pointing out any issues with Jack even pointing out a few things he had noticed and we clarified them all with him and arranged a collection date for the following Friday and he advised that he would be in contact on Wednesday with the bank details for payment to be made. Late Wednesday afternoon I received a call from Jack to say that the vehicle would not be ready for Friday. I advised him that I had sold my current vehicle and had made arrangements with someone to drive us the 170 mile round trip so it needed to be ready by Friday. His attitude in all honesty was very poor regarding this I can’t understand why as it had all been arranged the previous weekend. On the day of collection we unfortunately got stuck in traffic and were delayed by around an hour and again his attitude was severely lacking and on arrival we found him to be quite rude as if he didn’t have any time for us. When we walked around the vehicle two of the marks that had been pointed out to him (black paint) had not been removed and he adamantly refused to accept that these had been pointed out to him (even though they had) and it was as if it was a big deal to get someone to have a look and said it is a second hand car. Well that really is not what you expect when paying over £40k for a used car. He went and got a valeter begrudgingly who simply rubbed it with a cloth and said no it’s a scratch. Well it definitely is not a scratch but we couldn't be bothered to argue. We asked Jack quite a few questions with regards to the car and to be quite honest some of the things he said he didn’t know or wasn’t sure on and some things he’s told us we have now found are completely wrong for instance we asked if the steering wheel position moved when you get in and out the car he said no but lo and behold it does by pressing the auto button on the side of the steering wheel column and the Land Rover app that he said you could only have on one device. We have had the vehicle since 20th September I have been eagerly awaiting the receipt of the V5c so I could put my personal plate on and have been checking DVLA to check if it had been issued yet after 8 days I emailed Jack and then received a reply saying he would check and let me know then nothing so I have had to phone and speak to someone else and it turns out Jack did not register the change of ownership which has now been done by someone else at Harwoods (thank you Ros) 11 days later. If you are looking to buy a new or used car take my advice and avoid Jack like the plague as he is more suited to a fruit n veg stall on a market.

Poor service

Cannot speak of the whole company. But was thoroughly let down by the Crawley branch. Would approach with caution. Aftercare service levels a real issue.

Un-Road worthy used car/ Poor used car checks

Hi, we purchased a Range Rover Evoque back in June 2024 from your Brighton showroom and 2.5 months down the line we noticed horrendous wear on the inside of one of our tyres. Having spoken to a number of tyre specialist they have stated that the tyre should not have worn like that in the time we have had the vehicle and that the tracking must be severely out. Having spoken to the dealership where we purchased the vehicle from, they confirmed that the tracking had flagged up on their pre used vehicle check and needed doing. I have had the tracking checked by an independent garage and have confirmed that the tracking on the rear of the car is still way out and with it being a 4x4 this will be effecting the driving of the vehicle all round. Apparently the tracking had been done by the Croydon showroom where car was originally for sale, but seems like the faulty tyre had forgotten to get changed leading to a near miss of a potential accident. The showroom we purchased the vehicle from had offered a GOODWILL GESTURE of £100 for this and 13 days on we are still awaiting this payment.
This is unacceptable customer service
