This is a great product
This is a great product, and offers small companies like mine assurance that our H&S offering is as up to date as possible (The software is regularly updated)
The software can be sometimes challenging, but the more you use it, and you build up your own data base with the information that you have previously inputted, it becomes very easy to use, stick with it!!

helps make pricing bearable
I'm a small builder who specializes in household extensions. I've been using HBXL Estimator Express for around 5 years now, and have been really impressed with it. It takes some time to get the hang of, but produces professional and accurate quotations, which I know from feedback impress customers and have helped me win work. The program is incredibly detailed, it is possible to get right to the smallest details of any project, although i tend not to get too involved in the more complex elements as I only price between 6-12 jobs a year.
The best thing about the subscription is the tech support on offer. During working hours I often phone through and am guided through anything I'm struggling with by their support team (Joe is especially helpful) .
Strongly Recommend this product.

Having been a user of the suite of HBXL software for 20yrs + I found the input very intuitive and could adapt to your working style, the result was a consistent output with a detailed estimate that stood out from the others.
I liked the way the software packages interlinked and a full set of project documents could be generated from one set of input, or each package could be used as standalone software to generate specific set of documents to suit the requirements.
With the support & updates it always felt more like partnering and you always had IT support in the back office on call, ready to answer any specific queries but more importantly keeping your software & prices current and up to date.
I'm now on my retirement pathway and can say that the HBXL software helped me grow my business over the years and I know they will continue to support SME's for years to come.

The team at HBXl are fantastic, nothing is to much trouble and the fact they just contact us not to sell us a product or update but just to check and see how things are going is great. The software is excellent however i dont always opt for the updates as i like tried and tested and change isnot alway easy but in the main i find using the software time saving and easy. we have been with HBXL for around 10 years now and have nothing but prise for their system, staff and customer service

I signed up for the free trial of the software with HBXL to aim streamlining my Estimation process.
The software initially came across as daunting due to its impressive ability to cater for such an array of projects in such detail.
I was able to schedule an online call with Sam Smith who spend an hour and a half running me through the software's capability's.
Sams demonstration was thorough yet succinct, checking throughout that i was understanding with no sales pitches.

Expensive package rendered useless buyer beware
I purchased HBXL’s software package in 2018 for £1,519, believing it included perpetual licenses. Recent server-side changes by HBXL have rendered my licenses unusable, despite their initial promise of indefinite access. HBXL acknowledged the issue but offered only expensive upgrade options, effectively forcing me to pay again for software I already bought.
If you’re considering HBXL, be cautious about their licensing practices. Alternatives like BuilderStorm, or Causeway Technologies may offer more transparent and reliable options.

Sorry that our recent discussions, and an offer of a discount as a gesture of goodwill, have resulted in this review. We understand that you’re disappointed with the requirement for upgrading the three HBXL software tools you paid for in 2018, prompted by your transfer to a newer computer, and not the quality of the software itself.
In the seven years since you bought the software there have been changes to security protocols from Microsoft (the owners of your operating system) that are beyond our control. This means that we cannot implement any work-arounds that would keep your 2018 software functional.
HBXL is committed to ensuring our software works effectively and securely on current computers, where the Windows-owned operating system is regularly updated. A chunk of HBXL’s software development time goes in addressing these changes.
In your case, with PlansXpress and Health & Safety Xpert, your 2018 versions are unable to interface with TLS 1.2, Microsoft’s latest protocol (they recently deactivated the version you’re using). We communicated with users over 12 months ago warning of this likely action from Microsoft and the impact it would have, with support at that time. With EstimatorXpress, you can continue using your current software but would need to use a 32-bit version of Excel and Word from pre-2016.
The Support & Updates package that we have offered perpetual users since we founded the company 25 years ago, is an annual payment that gives users unlimited phone support Mon-Fri. It also includes access to the new features we regularly add to the software products, plus any bug fixes and operating system changes. Annual subscribers automatically have the latest software.
