I had a band in 2019, I was advised by surgeon that I would need at least 8 fills to see results, so i thought this meant I was having 8 fills no matter what, anyway covid 19 hit and we then go into lock down 2020, I suffered with mental health due to this and was off work a further year due to mental health I have advised this to staff at healthier weight and have all medical history on this, I had a band adjustment finally back in 2022 in Cardiff I have since tried and tried to book an adjustment but got no joy, they have now advised that there is no longer a clinic going to be in Cardiff, but it's OK you can still ome to Birmingham bare in mind Cardiff is a 30 min drive, Birmingham is 3 hours drive so there and back to have a fill is going to be 6 hours drive in total,the answer I got is you can always go to someone else as your out of warranty hmmmm I was told to go to somone else when I paid thousands of pounds to this company, avoid this company!!!!!! Would not recommend!!!!!

We have a band adjustment policy in place which outlines the time that must pass in between adjustments – this policy is in place for the sake of patient safety, to avoid the risk of infection. We will not adjust a band unless medically indicated, as our main focus is always patient safety. There is not one fixed number of adjustments included in our aftercare, as this varies vastly between patients, based on individual needs. As we have advised on a telephone call with you, we are very transparent about our adjustment policy in our Terms and Conditions.
The pandemic had an impact on businesses and health care services all across the country, including here at Healthier Weight. As a business, we did our best to adapt during times that were challenging and uncertain, whilst always keeping patient care as a priority. Your Aftercare period ended in 2021, yet we have honoured 2 x free-of-charge band adjustment appointments as a gesture of goodwill, in light of the pandemic and the recent circumstances.
We note that you called us once in 2022, in May, to book a band adjustment. An appointment was booked for you accordingly, in the same month of that call. We received no further correspondence from you during 2022. The next time you contacted us was on the 7th of June 2023 in response to a message received from us, which notified patients that we would no longer be offering appointments in the Cardiff clinic. We understand the disappointment in response to this announcement. The end to our services in Cardiff was out of our control and it is as much as a disappointment to us, as it is to our Welsh patients.
On our telephone call, we informed you of the options going forward. To offer a solution where you remain under the care of Healthier Weight, we suggested travelling to Birmingham, as this is the nearest clinic to Cardiff. However, we have also explained clearly that you can still attend the same Cardiff clinic directly, separately from Healthier Weight.
We care deeply about our patients and will always do our very best to accommodate the individual needs and circumstances of each patient. As a Healthier Weight patient, you are a patient with us for life and we will continue to support you on your journey, if you are ever in need of assistance.

HW have been the perfect team
HW have been the perfect team, seamlessly managing my care for 20 months now. They helped manage my disappointment when my test results meant postponing surgery, they liaised with me about possible dates, pre op dieting, what supplements to take and generally preparing me for this life changing surgery.
When my initial date was postponed, there immediately refunded the money I’d paid which really helped me to build up trust in them. After the surgery they telephoned regularly to check up on me, making sure I was ok and managing. Each time someone different rang, they knew all about me and knew what conversations I’d had with their colleagues. They really were the best and I am ever thankful that this company was recommended to me. I wouldn’t hesitate to do the same.

Good and the bad customer service
Communication from my first enquiry was never great. Difficult to get hold of via email. Paitent coordinator could not answer questions I had and only seemed interested in getting my money and signing up. Then I never heard from that person again once I signed the documents.
I had almost no information prior to surgery but told someone would contact me. It took me to email and complain for things to start happening and pre op appointments to be made. Then everything all hit at once around 2 weeks pre op and I missed key information which I needed to know.
Dietician team is really good! Really helped with reducing sugar levels pre op. Friendly lady and felt comfortable talking to her.
I had an issue gaining my bmi 'proof' which I was hounded for multiple time by different people who I did not find to friendly.
Surgery - Amazing facillities, room was lovely and the night staff were amazing. Helping me out of bed after surhery when I just needed to stand up. Charge nurse couldn't do enough for me! Lovely lady.
Surgeon was great too. The anesthetist and his assistant were funny before they put me to sleep.
Post op-
I was told I had to keep something down before I could go home but I was never offered anything and had to ask for it.
Hospital did bring fresh jugs of water round 3 times a day.
Post op, had call back quickly with concerns I had which was good. 2 days post op and 3 week phone calls. No idea when the next one is. There is no pre warning of a call, they just call. Also post op, I had not seen amd email among the multiple emails I was suddenly sent, to follow a link to a website to see what I can and cannot eat and exrcies until over a week post op and again, I had complained to Healthier Weight I had not been given this information and was told I had been emailed once with a link to the website so look for the email
Having reminder emails for post op really should happen so information is not missed.
The app is not very good. Only helpful thing is tracking my weight and steps counter. I have deleted it now.
I feel having one or two people as main contacts would be best as I was speaking to different people each time a phone call would come in or email and it would be nice to build a rapore with someone during my treatment instead of multiple people who do not know me and are only picking up a file that morning like a lucky dip. I have spoken to around 5 or 6 different people within 5 weeks pre op and post op.
(Dietician has been the only constant person ive spoken to and has made me feel comfortable during this process)
All in all, I feel Healthier Weight needed the staff to improve how they may come across to paitens.

It is important that we obtain evidence regarding patients’ BMI records, as this will help us identify if a patient is required to have additional care or assessments, hence our determination in obtaining this information from you. We would like to clarify that we take the safety of our patients very seriously and strive to provide them with all the necessary information prior to their weight loss surgery. Information regarding the post-operative stages are sent to patients ahead of the surgery date, to allow for sufficient preparation and planning.
We further note that you reviewed your terms & conditions when booking and signed to acknowledge you had understood them, as well as confirming you had read and understood the clinical information we provided. Our aftercare package is explained within this document and information is provided regarding the scheduled telephone contact. We understand that you have since asked us to contact you via email (prior to calling) and this is something that has been acknowledged and put in place as requested.
We would also like to confirm that our Patient Support Team and Bariatric Nursing Team work closely together, to ensure exchanged knowledge and insight among all team members. Please note that each team member has the same access and insight into each patient’s journey.

First class care…
Staff very efficient and informative esp pre surgery, numerous emails with information almost daily. Surgery went ahead as planned 10 days after consultant appointment. Staff at Livingston hospital were 1st class and very attentive, esp to a patient who was upset all night. Aftercare is ongoing with follow up appointments/phonecards. No issues personally, would highly recommend Healthier Weight.

A genuinely good experience
The only reason I have given a 4 is due the nursing staff in the hospital where I had my surgery. My surgeon and the home team nurses are amazing, kind and caring. I have recommended Healthier Weight to several people and will continue to do so.
