Disappointed

I booked a consultation after experiencing long-term scalp inflammation and hair breakage, and was looking for specialist input after already doing other investigations (e.g. vitamin D, iron, etc.).
My appointment was initially scheduled for 14:15 and rescheduled to 16:15, which I had no issue with. During the consultation, my hair and scalp were looked at briefly with the trichoscope and she said my scalp looked inflamed, but still I felt my concerns were being dismissed. I was given general advice (moisture, avoiding tension/heat, protein treatments, washing frequency), all of which I had done and had explained that during the consultation.
I was diagnosed with scalp inflammation, but no treatment options or next steps were discussed. No consideration of whether further medical evaluation or anti-inflammatory treatment might be appropriate, given that the hair loss/inflammation was chronic.
I was also not seen for the full 45 minutes, and part of the consultation focused on recommending products from her own hair care line.
Given the cost (£170), I expected a more in-depth consultation (especially with me having scalp inflammation) other than the general advice I can get online. I came out very disappointed and I won't be going back

I was welcomed by the person at the…

I was welcomed by the person at the front desk, and the appointment started on time, which was brilliant.

I received a lot of education about my hear, and reassurance from my hair coach, which was amazing and I feel confident moving forward with my hair care.

The salon is clean, and the music was lovely instrumental music.

There appeared to be some issues with the water pressure on my visit, but they worked really hard to accommodate this issue, and still thoroughly cleaned my hair.

I was given a good blow dry and six straight back braids. The stylist was super gentle with my hair. I would love to have her specifically do my hair again, but there does not seem to be an option for choosing your hair coach, which is the reason for the 4 stars. A coach should develop a relationship with you, and your hair, so they know where you started, and help you to achieve said goals.

More needs to be done

The staff are very polite and professional. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. Scalp washing needs to be more thorough, not rough, but clean, with hair properly rinsed. At times, it almost feels as though water is being rationed. On one occasion, I noticed visible product buildup on my scalp while my hair was being detangled after washing, but I didn’t mention it because I didn’t want to make the stylist uncomfortable.
Another concern is that clients are not able to choose their preferred stylist and must go with whoever is assigned by the salon. I don’t think this is ideal, as clients are paying for a service and should have the right to choose who works on their hair.
Additionally, the stylists need further training in weaving and plaiting—specifically neat, clean partings and well-done cornrows. I’ve had cornrows from this salon that I was honestly too embarrassed to say were done professionally. A natural hair salon should be able to plait confidently and neatly.
Lastly, there is limited follow-up on hair progress. When clients ask about progress, the information is often forgotten. This is why having a dedicated hair coach would be beneficial-someone who consistently works with your hair, remembers previous sessions, and properly tracks progress over time.
If these issues are addressed, I truly believe the salon has the potential to be one of the best in London.

Five-Star Experience at Healthy Hair…

Five-Star Experience at Healthy Hair Studios

I had my hair done by Sabrina, and she was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The moment I sat in the chair, she began educating me about my hair — and it continued right through to the end of my appointment. I already know a lot about hair and health, but she still managed to teach me even more. That really impressed me, because not many hairdressers take the time to explain and educate you when it comes to natural hair.

I left feeling confident, informed, and fully in control of the decisions I make about my hair. Sabrina didn’t just style my hair how I wanted she didn’t force me to blow dry my hair which I loved — she gave me personalised advice on how to care for it at home, and even wrote down the key steps and tips for me to take away. That level of attention and care is rare.

Overall, it was a five-star experience, and I’ve already booked my next appointment. I would highly recommend Healthy Hair Studios, especially Sabrina. She’s truly amazing!

Best hair products for Afro hair but,

This is the third time l have bought hair products from here.
First experience was exciting, deep follicle oil came packaged like a Christmas present. Product was the best, grew my edges like crazy. Opened second bottle with excitement but this time the ingredients were not the same, wasn’t as green as previous. Most recent purchase came in an old cardboard box instead the usual and this round l one item wasn’t what l ordered so l reached out to them and l was asked to send a photo of what l ordered. Sent the photo of the 4 items l bought on the 4th of this month and no reply has come back. I have kept the product l didn’t order because l know l have to pay for the return myself.
